Borderline; is 34 and the injuries seems to always be around. I'd probably hold and hope for one more good year ... but if you're in a full rebuild, then also could see moving on and letting someone else take on those risks.

With more and more teams pushing 6 SP’s, how much do you discount the values of those SP’s? 6 vs.5 is like 5-6 starts a year. Balance the intent to keep healthy vs. IP. How do you lean?
Brent Hershey

From a site/projections perspective, we attempt to adjust for this in-season when teams go to 6-man rotations (lessen the overall innings projections for those that were in 5-man rotations, etc) and back. As far as MLB/ in real life .. not sure I've seen a study that proves that these fewer innings keeps guys healthy. Maybe .. but I take it as just a theory at the moment. Bullpen strength and management is the most important side effect, I think.

5x5 H2H, my opponent has RPs BBaker, JDuran, GTaylor and Jax (2 starts this week), so likely to get a bunch of saves.

Trying to decide if I want to start Nick Martinez @HOU at RP over one of these guys:
Alex Lange KC
Jacob Webb CHC
(I'm already starting Bednar & D Williams, also have Erceg on the bench)
Brent Hershey
12:45
I'd go Martinez, yes

AL only, Saves/HOLDS.   BAbreu or AKittredge ROS?  (I keep thinking Abreu will find something but it does not seem that way... but he still has role for now?).
Brent Hershey
12:48
Kittredge. More about Abreu's season-long loss of strike zone (BB%) and velo dip than an endorsement for Kitt.

NL only, Saves/HOLDS.  Please rank these Reds for Saves/Holds:  TAntone, BBurke, CFerguson, PJohnson.  Favorites and "stay away" are always welcome.
Brent Hershey
12:49
Burke and Ferguson are the two I'd consider; Antone and Johnson are too far away from leverage spots.

H2H, Weekly points:  Ray is somewhat keen on Sproat's two-start week.  Do I start him over single-start aces Sanchez and Burns?  Neither Wins nor QS are a consideration.  IP are a criteria, however.

Second question:  Is it time to give up on Noelvi Marte?
Brent Hershey
12:50
No; always start your aces.

Marte: Likely yes if you're in a 10 or 12-teamer.

reading alot about these players with good underlyind stats...how would you rate them power wise, for ROS as well as keeper? Conine, H Hernandez from Miami... and from Pit E Valdez, E Rodriguez and Callihan?
Brent Hershey
12:52
For power, ROS: Hernandez, Valdez, Conine, Rodriguez, Calihan
Keeper: Valdez, Conine, Hernandez, Rodriguez, Calihan

Don't think Calihan is in the same stratosphere as the others.

10 team H2H Jax or Seymour (TB) Which is the best to pick up for a win this week?
Brent Hershey

Seymour

Hi Brent--Is it time for me to move on from Tyler Glasnow? I'm in a 15-team mixed league and I have a deep enough bench that I have been able to stash him. But is it worth keeping my fingers crossed that he comes back in late August or something? Thanks.
Brent Hershey
12:53
Yes, I think I'd move on. Can always come back to him if/when we get a positive update

For that Nick Martinez v Lange / Webb question, which of those 2 RPs do you bench this week?  KC has 3vTB and 2vPHI, CHC has 3 v SD and 3 v STL.  All are home games.  (it's 5v5 H2H)
Brent Hershey
12:54
Bench Lange. Webb better pitcher

12:55
Rest of season AL only 5x5 categories who would you roster Zebby Mathews of Jack Flaherty
Brent Hershey
12:55
Matthews, likely. Though if Ks are an emphasis, then Flaherty

How likely is it Melton keeps his rotation spot when (if!) the rest of the DET pitchers get healthy?
Brent Hershey
12:57
Has the stuff to remain in the rotation; no IP concerns. Not 100%, but a world where he succeeds enough that they just roll with him.

For speed, I have Simpson, Justin Crawford, and Carrigg. Problem is Simpson hasn't been running or hitting, Crawford isn't either and seems overmatched, and Carrigg hasn't been up long enough to really know. How do you value them for ros and also in a dynasty league? Thanks Brent.
Brent Hershey
1:00
ROS: In the order you have em -- though I hear you on Simpson. But as long as TAM is playing him, he's the best bet.
DYNASTY: Probably flipped. Not sure Crawford is ever going to hit enough to get into the top third of that lineup, and so while he'll do some running at the bottom, his SB totals will suffer. But feel like he's more likely than Simpson to maintain his PT. Simpson could well follow the Billy Hamilton career path, IOW.

Other than one great game (which didn't help me because he was on my bench), Colt Keith hasn't done much and hasn't shown any growth. Long-term what do you think? Would you keep him over struggling Baty? When Donovan comes back, how would you rank those three long-term?
Brent Hershey
1:02
Still like Keith over Baty, though each still an adjustment away. Long-term, I'd go Keith/Donovan/Baty. Feel like DET going to have more patience with Keith developing than NYM will with Baty; his time is now. Donovan is older, and is what he is.

5x5, who do you like better ROS, Mauricio Dubon or Kody Clemens?
Brent Hershey

Clemens, somehow.

Do you think the recent signs of life for Machado and Tucker means they are about to turn it around or will they continue to struggle for the remainder of the year?
Brent Hershey
1:04
Both have the track records to say they'll turn it around. If you drafted them, you kinda have to hold and hope so (and I've got a team or two riding on these guys as well!).

Are JAlvarado decimals going to settle down?  Is he in danger of losing his HOLDS role?  What is the deal?
Brent Hershey
1:05
This is Jose Alvarado. Ratios are gonna fluctuate; stuff is nasty but he just has inconsistent command. He's in a great pen with lotsa hold opps; don't feel like he's going to lose that role. It's just that the numbers are volatile.

Do you think Curtis Mead has shown enough to be Washington's starting 3B long-term? Does Brady House fit into the equation? Thank You
Brent Hershey
1:07
Not just yet, but this narrative could develop. Remember new management in WAS, who were responsible for bringing in Mead; and didn't draft House. Could well be if Mead continues hitting, that by the end of the season he's in place at the hot corner and House is the one seeking a change of scenery. Worth tracking.

NL only, OBP league.  Please rank ROS:  TFrance, MKepler, PSmith.

Smith / Kepler / France? Tough rank; PT will prob determine

In an NL-only 4x4 with OPS instead of BA, I need to drop one of these strong-side platoons, N Church, M Yaz, and G Conine. Which two should I keep or should I keep all 3 and drop L Gurriel instead?
Brent Hershey
1:09
Drop Yaz, unfortunately. Gurriel drop would be my second choice.

10 team NL only 5x5, using OBP.   Endy Rodriguez got a writeup in Steve Nickrand's young targets article - his skills look strong, but he;s sat 3 of the last 4 games.  Is he the guy?
