Thanks for the words, Steve. It sounds to me like you've done a decent job patching things together on the saves front so far. I'd start by tracking your saves pace with other teams in your league -- it could be that although you've fallen behind, with the moves you've now made, your PACE might be ahead of other teams', which could lead to making up the points you need in the standings. Don't stop looking for those guys who can help (curious about setup guys in KC, for instance), but feel like you're on the right track. Intrigued by AJ S-S, though probably a better keeper lg play than redraft. ATL has had success with young pitchers, tho.

Mixed League Roto 5x5 keeper - what are your thoughts on Vinnie Pasquantino moving forward? Do I need to look to upgrade via trade at 1B?
Brent Hershey
12:44
Think Vinnie will be fine and is a good keeper lg investment, given his plate skills, etc. Not too worried there.

9 team 4X4 AL only. DH spot open. Please rank the following waiver wire adds Taveras, noda, Royce Lewis, Kirilloff, mckinstry, baddoo, Pratto. You are the best!
Brent Hershey
12:46
Lewis, Taveras, Kirilloff, Noda <<<gap>>> then the final three in your order.

H2H points league. Have France and Tellez at 1B, but wondering whether it would make sense to drop one of them in favor of JD Martinez, who is on the wire. I don't love having a player who only qualifies at DH, but he's obviously outproducing both of them. Worth making the move and, if so, who should go? Thanks for any thoughts.
Brent Hershey
12:47
Would not move Rowdy for JDM, but probably would look for more thump at DH than France gives you. I'd think that would be an upgrade.

Thoughts Duvall in a 12 team 5x5: I'm first in pitching, but near last in batting, I have Sale on my IL (we get just 1 spot) but could drop Chafin for Duvall (Clase, Finnegan, Alvarado). Thoughts?
Brent Hershey
12:48
Yep would absolutely do that as you have it described.

Hi Brent,  approaching the trade deadline in my 4x4 NL only.  Would you do this deal:     Estrada and Frelick for Schwarber?  I'm leading the league in SB and Avg, and i'm needing HR and RBI, but i'm also trying to figure out my situation for next year.  I have Estrada for $20 and Frelick for $12.   I will not be keeping Schwarber at the price i would acquire for him.
Brent Hershey
12:51
Those prices for Estrada/Frelick don't seem like slam-dunks to me as far as March 2024 keeper league values. Still aways away, obviously, but I don't see them as 'cornerstone' pieces of a keeper list. If you're able to stomach the BA hit in Estrada --> Schwarber, then I think this works. BABIP says its likely there's "some" BA upside, and that park/lineup in the summer has to get cooking, I'd think. Solid trade it seems.

Chances Jake McCarthy falls back into the slump that got him sent down earlier this season?  Runs every chance he gets which is great, but wondering if i should take an offer for him now before the dog days get here.
Brent Hershey
12:53
I'd probably consider it, as though he has great value with the SB, there's still some questions on the hit tool, and I'm not sure I sense from ARI that McCarthy is a foundational piece for them. Lots of OF mouths to feed, etc. As with everything, depends on the return ... but no, he's not untouchable for me as far as trading away.

Miller Time - Is Bryce Miller going to level out and give us back end rotation production moving forward or is he a FA level arm in 12 team leagues?  Bobby Miller similar early results to Bryce in his first few starts, however with a lot more swing and miss. What does his ROS production look like?
Brent Hershey
12:56
Bryce: well, we're going to find out how he responds to the past two starts soon and that will say a lot. My hunch is that yes, he levels out and is not drop-worthy at this point even in 12 teasers. Bobby: does feel like a half-step up from Bryce, better sw/m as you state does work in his favor. Trust the Dodgers more, which is a part of it -- but that also means they won't be shy in shutting him down or backing off him some if they feel the need to do so.

Are we ready to abandon ship on Brandon Lowe in all formats?  I'm sure he'll go white hot for a week right when I cut him.
Brent Hershey
12:57
Always depends on alternatives. Want to hear more about current injury, which plays into things. In general terms, I'm still holding, esp if the back issue passes for now.

Thanks, Brent, for these chats.  Great info.  4x4 NL only.  Needing to move in ERA & WHIP with any gain in Wins helpful.  Urias and Burnes may be available to trade for.  Your preference for ROS?
Brent Hershey
12:58
Sounds like Urias slightly favorable given your situation, assuming the injury recovery is smooth.

Brent Rooker, is his awful May the real Rooker or not?
Brent Hershey
12:59
Nope. The real is likely in between April and May. This is just the streaky slugger downturn.

One of the leaders in our 10 team AL-only league with plenty of innings cut Lance Lynn last week for a reliever, so Lance is in the FA Pool. He is one of leaders in BPV having some very nice outings, but the disasters mixed in have created some ugly stats. Is he a keeper worth throwing some FAAB at with the expectation he could provide above average 5x5 help, or should I focus on younger names out there with upside? I already feel like a trauma center with Cole and Giolito.
Brent Hershey
1:00
As inferred earlier, I'm skeptical even though our BHQ metrics  say to hold. Personally I'd probably go younger.

In a 4x4 home league (no K's), I need to drop Montgomery, Bibee, or Severino to activate Hendriks. Which one?
Brent Hershey
1:01
Probably Severino, given his recent health history. Very close, though; could make a case for all 3.

ROS: Odor or Dejong? Need OBP, R and RBI. Thanks!
Brent Hershey

DeJong; mainly b/c I trust his ROS playing time outlook more

NL-only keeper, Elly or Holliday?
Brent Hershey

Given that Holliday is AL ... Elly

I have Sabol as my second catcher, and am spooked by this morning's update. In a 5x5 where HRs are tightly contested, would you rather Gary Sanchez. Does he have the job over Nola, with a chance of Campusano taking it in July?
Brent Hershey
1:04
in a 2-C league, I'd go Sánchez for now and just run from there. Might need to revisit at some point in the season, but deal with that then.

Thanks for the chat. Deep NL keeper league. Considering a free agent bid today on Jonny DeLuca for his 2024 potential and beyond. With their embarrassment of riches, the LA OF picture is probably their most muddled. Reasonable gamble?
Brent Hershey
1:05
Eh ... not overly convinced of this. I like Outman better, for instance. And seems like a late July trade (upgrade) waiting to happen.
Jim

Playing in a keeper league and hesitant to activate Smith-Shawver. Seems like his innings will be managed and limited to middle relief. Is there a world where Atlanta turns to him for their 5th? I mean, Kyle Wright is not expected back for another 6-7 weeks?
Brent Hershey
1:06
Yes, there is ... but could be a while. Depends on your patience level and/or bench space.
