Good Monday, chatters! Queue is full, so let's hit it!

How much hope to you have for Adelle? As a former number 1 or 2 prospect, would he even be a top 50 prospect now if he were still eligible?
Brent Hershey
12:04
Yeah, the swing and miss is a big hurdle at the MLB level right now. I'm giving him a bit more rope w/ Maddon gone (who seemed to not be a fan at all), but my expectations have definitely dropped.  Would seem like a good change-of-scenery candidate -- but still needs to make better contact.

12:06
Do you see Kirilloff and Miranda both starters for the Twins in the second half this year and in 2023 assuming health of course?
Brent Hershey
12:06
I believe in Kirilloff more than Miranda; better hit tool overall. But yes, both could well be in that lineup come August and next year; feel like the team construction would allow that.

BHQ says Rony Garcia is a strong 2-start option this week. Are you buying?
Brent Hershey
12:10
I personally did pick him up last night in TGFBI on the strength of those ratings. Part of my afternoon today is going to be digging deeper to see if I'm taking the plunge and actually starting him this week. Metrics are pretty interesting, even though ERA so far is not. Matchups are not bad. It's possible.

12:16
How would you rank Stott, Hoerner, Luis Garcia in a dynasty league and is it close?
Brent Hershey
12:16
García/Stott is close; Nico is third for me. Garcia is further along is his career, has always been young for the level, and the pop that is emerging makes sense given his hit tool has been strong, but physically he wasn't as much coming up through the minors. I do think his long-term defensive home is at 2B (range at SS not great). Stott's development in the past year has been eye-opening; his hit tool + power has made great strides also; takes quality AB and doesn't have to be "the guy" in that PHI lineup. Think he is more likely to stick at SS than García. Re: your question, I lean García slightly. Also like Hoerner, but not as convinced he'll have the punch of the other two. Fun Q, though.

Should I stop thinking Winker is going to go on a tear and hit? Should he be dropped in a redraft league?  Dynasty League?
Brent Hershey
12:19
No; I doubt it; no. In a single-year league, depending on the # of teams, you might be able to find an upgrade. Winker's history says that he will come out of this at some point; his BABIP and HR/F are way off his previous established history. I know the parks play opposite, but I don't feel like that accounts for this amount of the discrepancy. I'm benching in some spots where I can, but not giving up yet. Still just a 218-AB sample

Happy Monday, Brent.  For saves only this week, Rainey or S. Dominguez?
Brent Hershey
12:22
Ha ... had to make this choice in a league already, and am leaning Seranthony. He's pitching better, PHI with an 8-G week, Knebel AT BEST won't be worked hard, and SD seems like the next in line for saves. WAS with a tough schedule; Rainey not lights-out or anything. Both fluid situations, and know you (we) could get burned, but my process says Seranthony.

Doug Dennis tapped Lou Trevino as a skilled arm in the A's bullpen, only to see him touched up for 4 runs in 1/3 inning yesterday (he also gave up a homer last Friday). I could continue to wait on Ken Giles, or I could use Trevino and put my ratios at risk. What say you?
Brent Hershey
12:24
I know he had a nice little run prior to this weekend, but I'm not starting Trivino at this point. No sure things in Giles, either, of course. Such is the #CloserLife

Woodruff seems to have gotten over his ankle issue, yet now is dealing with Raynaud's syndrome.  Have other players had Raynaud's...and have they recovered?  Is this a disease that could shorten his career?
Brent Hershey
12:29
Don't know much at all about Raynaud's ... but doesn't sound good for any pitcher (hand numbness; no timetable for return). Don't have any comps for this -- sorry, I can't help on this one.

12:32
Any word on Buehler's MRI?  Elbow discomfort or strain seems to be shorthand for Tommy John surgery.
Brent Hershey
12:32
Flexor strain; won't throw for 6-8 weeks. Then will need a bullpens and a rehab, so best case, looking at late Aug/ early Sept? And LA likely to ease him back, so they have him for playoffs. Again, that's a best case. I'm not expecting much fantasy value from him ROS.

Good afternoon, Brent. I’d like your opinion on whether to bench SS Baez  in favor of Stott in a weekly points league, where HR, 2B, SB, and RBI are weighted highly.
Brent Hershey
12:33
It would be a week-to-week decision, but I might just do that, even with Baez's more certain playing time. He has just looked so lost out there recently.

Replacement for T. Stephenson. 10 team, NL only CBS league. The following are from the bottom of CDG in order: E  Diaz, Stallings, Molina, M Perez, Casali, C Kelly. Which for short term and next 6(?) weeks? Would it be more profitable to make weekly matchup picks? Thanks.
Brent Hershey
12:35
Yeah, I think week-by-week is the way to go; maybe something sticks out. Might try Stallings or Molina first, but keep an eye on Kelly. His history hasn't been nearly as bad as his beginning of the season.

Giolita has reverse splits, walking people velo a bit down...concerns? and im still high on kikuchi, I like saying kikuchi. one reason . thoughts on both please. Thank you
Brent Hershey
12:40
Mildy concerned -- or just aware -- of Giolito's dips. Our xERA says this is his 'earned' level, which is probably not what you paid for. Walks are concerning a bit, yes. Kikuchi is still a matchups play for me; some of the metrics have been rough (and speaking of elevated walk rates ....). Tough week for him this one, as I love the BAL start, but vs Yanks ... no thanks.

First impressions of MJ Melendez?  Above average catcher the rest of the way?
Brent Hershey
12:41
The most impressive thing? KC is finding the AB for him after Sal came back from injury. Playing MJM in the outfield, getting him 5-6 starts a week says that he's here to stay. Hard-hit metrics says he should be. League will adjust, but def above-avg CA rest of the season, yes.

Trying to replace T. Stephenson on this blue Monday, Brent.  Is the PT and performance of either Raleigh or Bethancourt  sustainable?
Brent Hershey
12:43
Those are the two I chased this week in FAAB where I needed to replace Stephenson and/or Jansen. Believe in Raleigh more than Bethancourt, but CB has been doing it for several weeks now. One thing is that SEA seems to have decided on giving Raleigh a bit of run here recently. Might be a Zunino type; could be more.
Michael
12:46
hi Brent, what is your view of Mantiply (AZ) for rest of season?
Brent Hershey
12:46
ERA bound to go up given crazy strand rate. A bit more skeptical of guys who only through 90, but amazing control so far. I doubt that he's in the saves picture even in ARI, heavy GB% helps, too. Deep leaguer help; probably about it.
Porcho Villa
12:52
Losing patience waiting for Vaughn to show signs of growth. Still showing extreme platoon splits, GB% unchanged from last year, and no power growth (hand injuries never help). Any signs of hope or would you move on to, e.g., J. Rojas, Pham, Mountcastle, or L. Gurriel?
Brent Hershey
12:52
Andrew? Making better contact, Statcast metrics stable, FB% up. Team has crumbled around him (mostly injuries), but I'd prefer him to others mentioned here. At 24 with that plate approach; I'm holding.
Brent Hershey
12:52
OK, on to lightning round ..

12:53
Good morning, Brent! It's been a bit, so let's play another round of either/or! From a dynasty context (H2H; AVG/OBP/SLG/R/RBI/SB), who would you rather have between:

  1. A. Triston Casas and B. Alex Kirilloff?
  2. A. Corbin Carroll and B. Riley Greene?
  3. A. Logan Gilbert and B. Roansy Contreras?
  4. A. Michael Harris II and B. Eloy Jimenez?
  5. A. Tommy Gonsolin and B. Jeffrey Springs?
  6. A. Brusdar Graterol and B. Andres Munoz?

Thank you for playing (again)!
