They definitely could as a way of monitoring his innings but I think he is more likely to be a guy that has an opener making him a really interesting option for fantasy. The problem is they could definitely use him as the opener and give him a follower which would be awful for his value.

Tell me what the Cubs are doing. They've indicated Michael Busch will spend a lot of time at 1B but I think that's just signaling they're in no rush to re-sign Cody Bellinger. But they aren't really going into the year with Nick Madrigal getting full time run at 3B, are they? Will I ever see my boy Matt Mervis on the north side again?
Justin Mason
10:25
I think they still end up with Bellinger. Busch really is bad defensively so I think he should play first but Tauchman can't be their every day CF.

How worried are you about Corbin's shoulder being a repeat issue like it was for Tatis? I have him as a cheap 3-4 year keeper and wondering if I should try to get out in front of any long-term injury by moving him now
Justin Mason
10:26
I am not overly concerned with it. I think unless we hear a reason for concern, he is as still a stud

What do you make of Braxton Garrett going into the 2024 season?  Is he a guy that could be a potential top 20 starting pitcher?  Thanks!
Justin Mason
10:29
I feel like I am out on an island on Garrett because I love him and no one else seems to. He is a k per inning guy that gets a lot of ground balls and pitches in a great park. I don't know that he becomes a top 20 guy, but his current ADP has him as guy in the 50s and that is way too low.

For a 5 OF NL only auction league, are there any cheap sleepers that you like? Need this years TJ Friedl!
Justin Mason
10:32
I am still working on my outfield projections but NL guys that stand out to me are Sal Frelick, Alek Thomas, Jung Ho Lee, and Edward Oliveras
Tim

Better last keeper in AL only. $5 R Lewis or $17 L Robert?
Justin Mason
10:33
I'll save the money and gamble on Lewis

Do you expect Andrew Abbott to make some adjustments and bounce back from his rough few months at the end of last year?  He was so dominant to start, I know there is a good pitcher in there somewhere.  Thanks for the chat.
Justin Mason
10:33
Obviously a guy like him could but I worry about the park always being a problem and he is very hittable. Someone to watch in spring just in case but so far I am less enthused than I though I would be.

I have Buehler for $10 (5x5 roto 12-team NL-only deep league with very high inflation & $260 salary cap). Somewhat worried about his 'late start' but should I keep him going into the auction knowing that few quality pitchers will be available?
Justin Mason
10:35
If I am looking to compete this season, I am less likely to keep Buehler. I would honestly try and trade him for someone similar but that is starting the year healthy. Guys coming off of TJ struggle with command and control, plus there is innings risk.
Raggedy Ragans
10:35
Is the Ragans Helium too high? Debating him or Woo, who is lower in your ranks but pitches for a team that wins and will face more A’s/Angels. (FWIW, all the projections have Woo ahead.)
Justin Mason
10:35
I am honestly surprised that Ragans isn't higher in the ADP. I don't think they are close in talent level and don't forget that Woo had elbow issues last year that scare me a bit.

Best AL IL stash? Rasmussen or Springs? Degrom? Luis Garcia?
Odds Shane McClanahan pitches this season?
Justin Mason
10:36
I don't like stashing guys like this if I want to count on them for this year but the answer is deGrom if you are going to do it.

Out of the 3 Seattle starting pitchers, Castillo, Kirby and Gilbert, who do you see having the best 2024 and who would you be spending your auction dollars on?
Justin Mason
10:36
Castillo for me, but I love all three

AL Only, 10 team OBP. Pick 2 of: Ragans ($10), Woo (10), Jarren Duran (12), Davis Schneider (10)?

Why do NFL defenses trade yards for time at the end of the game?
Justin Mason
10:38
It is the idea that you can bend but not break. I think it is often just bad strategy. I understand you don't want to give up the big play, but I would rather give up the big play and there still be time for my offense to score as opposed to being killed by paper cuts. Your defense got you to this point, why change things so dramatically?

Standard 5x5 NL-only keeper league, $260 cap auction, 8 keepers with inflation. As my last keeper I have Cristopher Sanchez for $5. Unique rule has players switching leagues bid on before the auction, but the high bidder must keep. I have rights to Sale. At what $ should I be willing to take Sale over Sanchez? Is he worth $5 more? $10? Or none?
Justin Mason
10:39
I think Sale is worth at least $10 in NL Only

Thanks, following up on that Strider question: Do you see this as a perhaps his peak value, and maybe a good time to sell in a dynasty type format? Or no real concerns outside of just general pitcher injury worries
Justin Mason
10:40
I don't think there is much reason to think he has any more injury risk than any pitcher.

If you had to guess 5 closers to start the season that would end the season with the job, who would they be?  And I'm not talking the locked in guys, maybe some middle tier closers.  Thanks for the chat Justin.

What position do you see as being the weakest that we should prioritize early in drafts this year?  2B seems pretty shallow, but so does OF.  Thoughts?
Justin Mason
10:44
To be quite honest, I don't think any position is really bad. 2B seems like it is the worst, but SS and 1B fall off steeper than in year's past.

12 team roto with QS instead of wins. My 3 SP keepers as of now are Ragans, Eury, J Ryan. Is it worth me trading away JRam to get Devers and Bobby Miller?  Is guess my question is Miller a big upgrade over any of those arms above?
Justin Mason
10:45
I think I would do that if I could keep all of those pitchers, but with you having limited keepers I don't know that I would. Miller over Ryan for sure for me, but is that worth giving up a stud in J-Ram?
Kingpin
10:46
With the increase in stolen bases, it seems SBs should be easier to find & we should emphasize accumalting HR? Is that correct, or faulty reasoning?
Justin Mason
10:46
I think that is correct. Stay balanced though because SBs may be easier to find but you need more to win the category

In a keeper DMB league would you take a chance on Walcott or more ready SP (Hampton,  Waldrep)
