14 team Dynasty question. I'm a yearly contender, not in a rebuild, just for context. Last keeper: Xander Bogaerts or Drew Rasmussen? I have mookie and volpe in the infield and my rotation as of now is crochet, burnes, king, mcclanahan, strider, (bieber and eury perez hoping for a second half). Is the rotation depth more important than a solid accumulator?
Justin Mason
12:20
Yeah, I am going Rasmussen here. That rotation has some risk and I want the depth

Has any news been reported as why Elly stopped his torrid SB at the end of last year?
Justin Mason
12:21
I haven't seen anything but that is something I will dig into because I hadn't really noticed it until you pointed it out.

16 team keep-8 with max 5 yr ownership. Prices listed after player names represent remaining price/yrs of ownership with keeper inflation rules baked in. (studs go for $55-$70ish for reference) Help me pick 8 please(!) from the following:
  • $4 Colt Keith ($6 / $12)
  • $3 Elly ($5 / $10)
  • $4 Edman ($6 / $12 / $12)
  • $12 Santander
  • $66 Ohtani
  • $22 Glasnow
  • $5 Taj ($10)
  • $3 Felix Bautista ($5 / $10 / $10)
  • $5 Jeff Hoffman ($8 / $16 / $16)
  • $16 Bibee ($24 / $48 / $48)
  • $12 T.Ward ($18 / $36 / $36)
  • $15 Vientos ($30)
  • $8 Cristopher Sanchez ($12 / $24)
  • $1 Vaughn Grissom ($2 / $4)

Elly, Ohtani, Sanchez, Keith, Edman, Bibee, Vientos, Buatista

Thoughts on Glasnow and Bibee this season plz/thx!
Justin Mason
12:23
Really love Bibee. He still feels a little underated in the market but he is a really safe SP which I love. Glasnow scares me a ton with his injury history. I would roster him in a shallow format, but anything 12 teams or deeper and I am staying away

Rays bats seem primed this yr playing home games at Yankees Spring Training facility. Is this likely for all bats, or just the ones that bat lefty?
Justin Mason
12:24
I think it will help all their bats but their lefties a lot more. Just getting out of the trop will be huge for the Rays.

I have read that Sacremento is among the more pitcher-friendly parks in the PCL. PCL though AmIRight?! How do you think it will affect the A's bats? A's pitchers?
Justin Mason
12:26
It is one of the more pitcher friendly ones in the PCL but compared to Oakland, it will be a massive help to their hitters. I am targeting Langeliers, Butler, Soderstrom, Rooker, and Gelof depending on their prices in my drafts. I am stay away from all A's pitchers except Springs.

two Phillies questions: is Schwarber more valuable at the 4 hole and would you expect Trea to steal a substantial amount more if he leads off?
Justin Mason
12:26
Yes and yes. I love Schwarber and those RBIs will be amazing hitting lower in the lineup. Trea should bounceback with some health and I think he is going too low in drafts right now.

Wiped out watching 12 hours of Podapallooza. How much was raised.
Justin Mason
12:28
I am wiped out too lol. $7800 raised during podapallooza and from TGFBI participants! You can still donate too at https://donorbox.org/tgfbi-2025 and be eligible to win prizes!

Also check out my youtube to watch the live streams and I will be releasing them in podcast form on the Friends with Fantasy Benefits Baseball Podcast feed today and tomorrow

No matter how much I make tweaks, I can never get the Auction Calculator to line up with the historical costs in my keeper...namely at the top end where the stars are usually $10-$20 more than the Calc numbers that get spit out. Should I just manually add inflation or should I take those numbers at their value and avoid paying the extra $10-$20 for a star and instead focus on the 2nd/3rd tier of player ($20-$40)? Basically what % overpay is acceptable if you don't want to lose out on a star?
Justin Mason
12:31
So personally I like Tanner Bell's Smart Fantasy Baseball software the best for stuff like this. You can adjust the inflation rate, enter the keepers and adjust category prices.

However, in these scenarios, I would be fine adjusting because you have to play in the pool that your league plays in. Just make sure what ever you add to some players, you need to take away from others at the bottom of the pool

Giants and dodgers both have some interesting names for their 5th starter role (harrison/birdsong/roupp, Gosolin/May/Knack). Any you're interested in drafting?
Justin Mason
12:32
I am interested in Gonsolin and May. I don't know what their workloads will look like but getting cheap parts of the Dodgers team is always a good bet in fantasy. I would love Birdsong if I really thought he was making the team, but I don't right now.

12:32
What line are you expecting from Vientos this yr? Any playing time risk or is he locked in?
Justin Mason
12:33
I think there is some risk because of his swing and miss and defense. However, he has the upside for 40 bombs and I think he will have a decently long leash to start the season. I am a cautious buyer.

12:33
I can keep Felix Bautista and/or Jeff Hoffman at low prices. 15 teamer so SV are a knife fight. Am I keeping both or is Hoffman's shoulder too dicey?
Justin Mason
12:33
I would keep both if the price is good, but Hoffman does scare me a lot.

What are your thoughts on Zebby Matthews?  1: Any news on his injury?  2: how does he look for this year 3: What's his future ceiling 4: Do you agree that he has an 80 grade name?
Justin Mason
12:34
For sure he has an 80 Grade name. If he can figure out the command, he could be an SP2 type of guy. Looks good in spring, but I just don't think he is going to break camp with the team. Someone I am putting on my watch list for sure.

You think Jordan walker carries any trade value in 15t roto dynasty? What type of return should I be looking for (sp’s)?
Justin Mason
12:35
I don't think now is the time to trade him to be honest. This is going to be the low end of his value. I would try and hold and see if you can recoup some value on him first because I don't think you get enough back in return other than like a mid rotation starter.

12:36
Hey Justin, what are your thoughts on Ben Rice dynasty 5x5 with OPS? Passed up a dynasty trade for Brady House but I’m not sure if the Yankees will give Rice enough runway to succeed. His minor league numbers and statcast data is great
Justin Mason
12:37
I really think he needs a trade. Unless someone (or two guys) get hurt, I just don't see him getting enough plate appearances to matter. I do think he has talent and I would be willing to hold him in dynasty, but the Yankees are a bad team for a guy like this.
Jorge
12:37
I am debating between Edman ($4) and Bibee ($16) in a 15 team 5x5 roto. Who ya keeping?
Justin Mason
12:37
Bibee for me but that is a great price on Edman
JarJar
12:37
I can keep Taj for $5 and $10 this yr and next. $250 budget standard 5x5 roto with a 400 player universe. I am worried about Rays arms in that stadium. I have to keep Taj though at that price, right?
Justin Mason
12:38
Depends on the depth of your league, but I would probably keep him at that
2nd season hope
12:38
I want to believe time served last year for Junior Caminero will prove valuable for his 2nd season.  I see projections fairly average from most.  Do you feel ok for slotting him at 3B in 10- team league?
Justin Mason
12:38
I do because the upside is massive if he can elevate.
