I think the biggest losers in the late playoff game TV times are the kids! I mean, I sometimes struggle to make it to the end of these games, being on the east coast, but there is no way my kids are watching much of these games. Half of them have started at or shortly after bedtimes!

LET THEM STAY UP AND WATCH BASEBALL.

At the beginning of trade talks, do you start with asking for the other teams top prospects even if the deal would never warrant that much talent in return?  Or is that an insult to the team you are trading with?
Kevin Goldstein

Usually you don't just go in blind. More of a "Hey, would you discuss Player X and if so, what kind of return would we be talking about?" Get some guidance first. Same with FAs.

Do you think expanding roster sizes will be on the table this off season?  Or is that not a big enough issue for the players union to care about?
Kevin Goldstein

I think it will be on the table. Could see expanded rosters, and could see a permanent taxi squad with the ability to declare your 25 for each game. Could be neither.

When you have a highly rated player or prospect who you like less for whatever reason than the consensus, do you have to wait for another team to bring him up in trade talks or do you risk tipping your hand if you bring him up as available?
Kevin Goldstein
1:25
Yeah, it's a slippery slope there. You definitely have to play it right.

If a team is replying to the inquiry "Hey, would you discuss Player X and if so, what kind of return would we be talking about?", do they reply with specific names, or tiers, like "We'd need one of your top 10 prospects and another in the top 20"?
Kevin Goldstein
1:26
Yeah, more tiers, but sometimes names come up quick. "We'd talk about someone at the end of our top 10?" response: "Does that include Prospect X?"

Corey Seager's baserunning and defensive numbers were pretty poor this year, but in the past they were better; just a one-year blip, or do you foresee continued poor showings in these aspects of his game?  Is he destined for 3B or 2B?
Kevin Goldstein

I think in terms of defense, Seager is a 40-45 SS, and it's really the big separator between him and Correa. VERY big separator.

Is there a better alternative than Gary Sanchez on the FA or expected trade market? I can only think of Contreras
Kevin Goldstein
1:28
I mean, that assumes you see Gary Sanchez as a catcher, which is something many teams do NOT.

For the past few years, it seems KC has had a deserved reputation for struggling to develop hitters. They’ve made some organizational changes to the hitting dev side, and this year it appears to be paying off. As a Royals fan, am I just biased, or are folks in the industry thinking the same?
Kevin Goldstein

The are thinking the same.

Ok folks, I gotta go, but thanks so much for all of the great questions, and enjoy the World Series.
