That is NOT overrated, but I don't think they should start thinking about that kind of thing until after the AS break.

How many injuries are
Kevin Goldstein
1:24
Many injuries are.
Alberto
1:24
How many injuries are hidden from the public?
Kevin Goldstein
1:25
Tons of little ones where a IL stint is avoided. Somewhere between a third and a half of players are dealing with SOMETHING...

Recent podcast, you used the term "fills the box" - I've never heard that before. Ideally, you want a pitcher to move the ball in and out and up and down with command. So, is it "almost" as good to fill the box with control but little command?
Kevin Goldstein
1:26
It really depends on the raw stuff. If you have big big shit, you just need to fill the box. The worst the stuff is, the more you have to locate.

Is Francisco Alvarez's bat too promising to risk having him get beat up behind the plate?
Kevin Goldstein
1:26
The problem is he can really catch....

Does a team take a chance on and pay Hogland enough for him to still go pro this year?
Kevin Goldstein
1:27
Yes, Will likely still go in the first round.

Speaking of...How does Harry Ford compare to Alvarez?
Kevin Goldstein
1:28
He doesn't. Very different players.
Dalton Wilcox
1:28
Does anyone like Harry Ford as much as I do?
Kevin Goldstein
1:29
Many do! He'll likely go in the teens somewhere, but future position is a question mark. Not in a bad way, he's just so athletic, that some have talked about the infield or even CF.

We waited until morning for lots of things back in the day. Newspapers thrived for years bringing you yesterday's news today.
Kevin Goldstein

And they don't anymore. I don't think of that as halcyon days.

thoughts on the Reds trying Alfredo Rodriguez at SS?
Kevin Goldstein
1:30
I hope they're keeping a close eye on Jose Garcia...

Where do see Bryant signing? How much arguing was there between internals on Appel over Bryant?
Kevin Goldstein
1:31
West coast is my vague answer. There was a lot of arguing that year....

With so few minor league affiliates, will teams start drafting for need? Like if you've got a crowded middle infield situation in the low minors, would you take a 1B/3B or something instead?
Kevin Goldstein
1:31
Nah, take the best player. Let PD figure it out from there.

Long chats are awesome! Do you eat or drink anything to keep you going?
Kevin Goldstein
1:31
Nah, I'm central. Ice coffee to start and then figure out what to eat after.

You've been very complimentary of Oakland's FO in previous chats but what was your reaction when they drafted (and signed) Kyler Murray?
Kevin Goldstein
1:33
My understand at the time was that his football trajectory was much lower than what it became following his draft year.
1:34
Maybe something by The Free Design, like Kites are Fun or something to really throw them off.
Thanks...

KG - appreciate the wisdom, humor, & your time.

Thanks! I don't know about the wisdom, and it's clear some don't like my humor, but happy to provide the time. Thanks for all the great questions and I'll see you next week. If I didn't get to your question, you can bug the great Ben Clemens in a bit!
