I still prefer the notebook, which makes me look pretty traditional next to a guy in his 50's on a big tablet. Scout literally chewed on one notebook recently, so I think she's trying to push me to digital as well

How many guys do you write legit “reports” for with grades after you watch a game? Essentially, what’s the breakeven point on players when you feel you’re not devoting enough attention to everyone and can’t confidently assess their tools?

Depends because from a HS game with one notable prospect, writing up more than one game is a waste of time. Some SEC friday night games will have 15 top-10 round prospects of different classes on the field so you can't bear down on all of them. Some MILB games have just 1-2 guys that interest us and others have 12. Loaded HS showcases or the Futures Game are near impossible to catch every meaningful thing
But, in general, if they're on THE BOARD at all, we're paying attention to them, but the most pressing (draft eligible this year) and higher rated get the bulk of the attention

I was initially excited about the Angels selecting Kyren Paris in the 2nd round this year... However I have read that his HS batting average was in the low .300's... Can you explain why this shouldn't be concerning?

Some toolsy upside types are not "good" or consistent hitters in HS, they simply have all the elements and don't often put them together. I always use Lewis Brinson as an example of a MLB starter that was a 1st rounder and his HS team had not other D1 talents and he wasn't the best present hitter on his team.
Gangly awkward physical types and dual sport limited reps guy have the easiest excuses for this

Eric did PG National, I'm doing PDP and college Team USA. I'll do East Coast Pro, Eric will do Area Codes and the PG All American. We may skip the Under Armor game, but I'll do it if we cover it.

May or may not go to the Cape. Jupiter in October, HS team USA stuff later in the summer are other event. And Marietta happens around me in July but I may not be around then

With Criswell and Kauffman fresh, it feels weird to say, but does Michigan actually have the edge tonight on the mound over a loaded Vandy team?

I would say Vandy has better P depth, but Hickman vs. Kauffman/Criswell means Michigan has a slight P advantage for tonight. Vandy has a better lineup but not by much. Have no idea if you can bet on this but I'm thinking Vandy is a very slight favorite.

You hear pretty often about MLB players who are "on the market" for the trade deadline. Are there ever any prospects who are telegraphed as available by their teams?

There is value in a protracted negotiation with a club that doesn't end in a trade because when you give them a list of prospects and they say yes/no, you can impute what their internal ranking is of their guys. Anytime you get yes/no's on 20 players, at least one will stand out as odd
so that isn't like announced formally, but you can figure it out vs. your reports and public rankings

Alrighty well I haven't gotten deep enough in the queue to even find the jokey questions, but it's time for me to split.
