What would it take to strengthen the pre-draft medical checks? Would the draft have to move to a different part of the year because players are still playing? Would that even be possible?

MLB's MRI process is a mess, over half the pitchers that were eligible for it didn't participate, for a number of reasons. Gotta have MRIs done on the kid's terms so that every player has them done before the draft, then this gray area business about having an agreement then seeing the MRI and being able to do anything you want goes away. Currently, the players/advisors don't have incentives to uniformly participate.

Still may be early enough to improve it, but yes this is the concern. Has plus bat control which can sometimes be a double-edged sword
