Yeah great question! And of course there are a bunch of other factors that could impact the stock's performance, but typically when you see that big money flowing in it can spark a new month or two trend.

When an institution buys into a position it can be over days or weeks even. Depending on the institution of course, but most rarely sell out quickly after making the decision to get in

So it depends. In this scenario, Mike is saying you could enter the trade today to expire for tomorrow but brought up the idea of if the work is worth the credit you would receive just to roll it again tomorrow to next Friday.

So he is saying that normally if he found a new position on Thursday, he would just start the trade with the expiration date for the short put selected for Friday the following week.

If the new trade is started earlier in the week (Monday or Tuesday), it might be worth it to set the expiration date for the same week you are in.

Normally, most of the new trades are started in the earlier parts of the week.
