Hi, Everybody!
It's always nice to start off Monday with a joke - even if it is pun-related, so...
fantasy team name
11:00
I grabbed Skenes last year at the first chance possible for my dynasty team.  Any pun like fantasy teams names that involve Skenes that come to your mind?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:01
The answer is clearly "Uncut For Skenes Win"
Steve the pirate
11:01
which notable names are you considering dropping at this point? Any good waiver pickups you recommend?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:02
As a general rule, I'm not dumping anyone that high profile in mid-May. Assuming you're (us) not a terrible drafter, no one you took in the top-100 is probably worth giving up on, assuming health.
11:03
But guys like Torkelson, Outman, Kirk, and the like, are at the point where you could pivot IF there's actually something better on your wire. Which is definitely not a given
South Side!
11:04
Should I pivot from Elias Diaz (half his games on the moon!) to Danny Jansen until Sean Murphy is back?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:04
M-O-O-N that spells Coors
Yeah, I'd rather have Jansen
11:05
Is getting the lion's share of time now and is actually healthy. Ride him while both continue
Start or Sit
11:05
Hey Nicklaus,Start three this week (roto, QS instead of W's) -- Butto, T Williams (both with two steps but both face Philly), Verlander, Paxton, Gil or do you prefer Paul Sewald in a third slot (need to make up ground in saves but already have Hader, Romano and a just acquired Suarez)
Nicklaus Gaut
11:05
Give me Gil, Verlander, and Williams
Joey Loperfido, Mike Tauchman, Davis Schneider
11:05
What do you think of these three? Long term assets, or flash in the pan? Tauchman obviously older, but seems to hit everywhere he goes?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:06
Loperfido is long-term but I'm not a Scheider believer
11:07
It's hard to view Tauchman as a long-term asset given his playing time/batting order always seems in flux, depending on current team context.
Brent Rooker
11:07
How real am I? Should folks in reasonably deep leagues be rolling with me indefinitely, or just while I stay hot?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:08
Crazy hot but he's still kind of what he's always been - a three-outcome type that can compile at a decent rate
11:09
His .368 BABIP and 31% HR/FB will eventually normalize, as will the A's offense (dipping his R+RBI) and then he'll be about the same old Rooker. Useful but limited
Dylan Crews Is Nervous ...
11:09
How am I doing adjusting pro ball? I seem unable to get on a hot streak.
Nicklaus Gaut
11:10
Ehh, not worried. Has struggled at Double-A but still has < 200 PA there

The Reds need to shake things up.  What if the reds were to trade CES (once he is healthy) a solid prospect to the Marlins for Chisholm?  Steer could move back to first and reds add more speed and defense.  CES gives the Marlins a slugging  first baseman for the future.
Nicklaus Gaut
11:11
The Marlins would need a lot more for a going into 2nd arb Chisholm
To be fair, the Marlins are terrible at trading so maybe yes?
BJ
11:11
Is Esteury Ruiz worth hanging on to in a dynasty league? Still hard to believe the A’s are set on playing the likes of Seth Brown, Tyler Nevin etc. over him — my only hope is that they are trying to play these guys so they can trade them later this season and finally give Ruiz every day at-bats. The other sh*tty part about it is even when he starts it’s  against LHP which are harder to steal off of.
Nicklaus Gaut
11:12
Yeah, I think you have to given the category-changing speed. It'd be different if he was more Billy Hamilton but this is just ridiculous A's shenanigans and I think you have to wait it out.

Trying to upgrade my 1B/3B, have pitching to spare. Who's a guy I can target while trading away Shota Imanaga, or Logan Webb? Could also include Corbin Carroll in a larger deal. Thanks!
Nicklaus Gaut
11:15
I'd probably want to use Imanaga to try and shoot for the moon. Don't doubt the success continuing but his value should be crazy high.
11:16
That's some serious chum to throw in the trade market and you should be able to pull a top hitter of your choosing

I've got four young SPers in Jones, Cecconi, Gasser and Black in an NL only.  Will they be productive this year? What about '25?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:17
Yeah, I kind of like all of those guys. Their biggest hindrance in '24 will be general usage/IP limits but if those get out of the way this year then they should be setup strong for '25
RAGBRAI
11:17
My OF seems a bit week with Marsh, Frelick and Benson.  Are any of them going to pick it up or are they just PT players?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:18
They're all kind of fantasy tweeners for me, though, I like Frelick the most. Fine to get away with as your 5th OF but you're asking for trouble when you start stacking them up
RAGBRAI
11:19
In an NL only keeper league what kind of bat can I expect in return for Jared Jones?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:20
Elite (and hyped up) young pitching in NL-only? The upper crust
11:21
Like just about anyone outside of the Acuna Jr./Ohtani/Elly/Mookie god tier
He's the type of asset that makes people get loopy and you shouldn't treat him as anything lesser
Itching to trade
11:22
Bryce Harper for Logan Webb? Who hangs up first?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:22
The person with Harper
Gwynning
11:23
For ROS-
Bobby Miller or Ryan Pepiot?
Christian Scott or Robert Gasser?
Thanks Nicklaus, we love your chats!
