Something called a Yilber Diaz is starting for AZ tonight against Atlanta. Given the surge of AZ this last week and Atlanta's slipping, is this nobody worth a shot? Or is he a stay away at all costs?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:00
Unless you really need strikeouts, I’d stay away. Talented but MLB debut vs Sale and the Braves is not ideal

My first year in an Ottoneu league.  First place in Offensive categories and last place in Pitching.  My horses are Zack Wheeler, Renaldo Lopez, and Framber :( Valdez.  What sort of keeper value do you place on Spencer Schwellenbach, Edward Cabrera, Casey Mize, Andrew Abbott and Cody Bradford?  I assume Javier Assad, and maybe Schwellenback, are a notch up from those guys.
Nicklaus Gaut
11:00
You have it right - Assad is a cut above and I like Schwellenback the most of the others.

Has anything substantive changed for Yandy Diaz?  It looks like last year's power surge was a mirage, but will his .290 - .300 BA return in the 2nd half?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:01
Part of it is batted ball luck, as he got a ton last year (.337 BABIP) but a .300 BABIP this year is back down below his career average. I think, talent-wise, he’s still a .290-.300 kind of guy. But he’s also back to pounding the ball back into the ground, which was always the big knock against him. EVs are down but not substantially so - the biggest problem is a 58% GB% that’s the highest since 2020, with a matching 3.7-degree launch angle.

Any real idea what you think the Orioles will do at the trade deadline ?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:02
Biggest need by far is starting pitching
If they don't aggressively trade for Crochet, I'd be very disappointed
11:03
Window is open this year and Crochet gives them the 1-2 they desperately need.
And controlled for two more years, giving them a replacement ace for Burnes
more of a request than question
11:03
but for most of us in keeper leagues the waiver wire after the MLB draft will be our only shot to get the players.  Could you please consider releasing after the draft a list with of your pitchers & hitters worth drafting.  Maybe divided by likely fastest to reach the majors, and worth waiting for, if you think there is top of the position or Hall of Fame talent that may not be pro ready as quickly.  Thanks
Nicklaus Gaut
11:03
That's a  great idea - I'll see what I can do!
rank these young hitters
11:04
HR/RBI/R/SB/OBP - please rank Jhonkensy Noel, Mark Vientos, Jace Jung, Deyvison De Los Sanos, Mattew Lugo, any other young slugger - with HR potential - you would add to this list.  Thanks
Nicklaus Gaut
11:04
Vientos > Deyvision De Los Santos > Noel > Jung > Lugo

It is a shame that fans are not able to see the best pitcher not in MLB today, based on false accusations by a gold digger. Someone must right this wrong and sign Bauer.
Trevor is waiting.

I hear about all these other leagues i.e... keeper leagues, dynasty leagues and so on. Where can you play these kind of leagues, because ESPN Fantasy does not offer anything like that!!
Nicklaus Gaut

Reddit tends to be a good place to find more interesting league openings.

Do you expect Juan Yepez to get a long leash as the Nationals first baseman?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:08
yeah probably, unless Meneses starts torching Triple-A. Especially considering the downgrades that roster will likely be hit with soon

Is Dansby worth holding?  He's been pretty bad the past month plus.
Nicklaus Gaut
11:09
He's been junky - it all depends on if your waiver wire actually has someone better

I've been enjoying David Hamilton in my al only obp league and have a solid lead in steals. Is it time to trade him? What kind of arm or power bat would you target? Baz/Pepiot? A low level closer? Varsho?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:12
Sure, if you're comfortable on steals and have a need but I also wouldn't sell him short. Should be able to get a halfway decent closer for him, just have to find the right partner.

Can you pick a favorite and least favorite from my middling infield? Daily AL OBP league: Horowitz, Schneeman, D Hamilton, Palacios, Rocchio, Malloy.
Nicklaus Gaut
11:13
Favorite = Horowitz > Hamilton
Least is Rocchio
However, favorite from Hamilton! is "Right Hand Man"

I only have room for 3 in my starting lineup. Who should I bench - Altuve, India, N Lowe, or McMahon
Nicklaus Gaut
11:14
McMahon
Angels hitters
11:14
Although both players have appalling BA's, would I be better off for the rest of the season with Jo Adell or Brandon Drury?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:14
Drury
Schneeman v Schuemann
11:15
Gesundheit. Which one is more real?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:15
Schneeman!

Toward the end of last week’s chat I asked for thoughts on Ben  Rice, with you indicating he may be short on power for 1B. That surprised me as he has 19 HRs this year in a little over 300 PAs, and he had over 20 last year in a similar sample. It looks like a good Yankee Stadium swing. Care to expand?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:20
I'll admit it's a good swing for Yankee Stadium, maybe I sold it short. But I still think it's more 25 HR power more than 30+
11:21
And if he's going to DH, which I think will be his best role, he'll need the latter
