Skenes or Soto
11:52
Long-term keeper league, all things considered would you rather have Skenes or Soto?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:52
Soto. Love me some Skenes but it's hard to trust the long-term value of pitchers who throw so freakishly hard.
11:53
Soto is a metronome and one of the safest keeper assets there is imo
Caminero
11:53
Please tell the Rays to trade Parades et al so they bring up Caminero
Nicklaus Gaut
11:53
Right???
Chris
11:53
Nicklaus you are the man, I’m about to become a subscriber

11:54
ROS - Toglia or Busch?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:54
Toglia
drop pitchers
11:55
Please rank Jake Bloss, Joey Estes, José Soriano, and Alec Marsh on both ROY and 2025 performance
Nicklaus Gaut
11:55
Soriano > Bloss > Estes > Marsh
1st round draft results
11:58
So which players - outside of the top 10 - do you like?  Also any players look better now based on the team that drafted them then yesterday?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:59
Theo Gillen going to Tampa Bay seems like a match made in heaven
12:00
Montgomery falling to Boston is also a nice pick
Draft Detail
12:00
Caglianone & Wetherholt & Rainer a 6-7-11 last night in the draft were real good picks. Thoughts on Round One?
Nicklaus Gaut
12:01
I like all three - Rainer at a 11 is a great value
But sweet lord, if my Cardinals screw up with Wetherholt I will be Hulk mad
I really like him - great pick
Chris
12:02
In your opinion who should Seattle trade for?
Nicklaus Gaut
12:02
Robert Jr. but I suspect they'll get outswerved for him
12:03
Jazz seems right up Trade Jerry's ally tho
Eh's
12:03
I can't get a handle on these A's starters. Just when I think Spence is the best, he craps the bed and Estes soars. Then they flip-flop and it's Hogan or Medina who has a decent start. Would you trust any of them for more than a spot start?
Nicklaus Gaut
12:03
No-oooooooooo
-ooooooo
Jay
12:04
Blake Snell back??!???!?
Nicklaus Gaut
12:04
Just wait till they hang 10 on him at Coors

What is Yahoo thinking extending the week through the ASB and including the following weekend of games?!? Finished my pre ASB moves last night and woke up to a full week with zero moves left, ooof.

su-uuper annoying

I know we are all guessing, but doesn't it seem llike Atlanta should go get J Winker?  And what's your crystal ball say about Bellinger?
Nicklaus Gaut
12:05
That would be a solid move for Atlanta. They need an OF upgradde
12:06
My feeling is he stays put but it's not a strong one - could go to Seattle if they miss out on Robert Jr; ATL might also be a possibility
draft
12:08
We have our minor league draft next week. I'm intrigued by Chandler Simpson. Would I be better off picking him or one of the newly drafted players like Nick Kurtz, Jac Caglianone, Christian Moore, or especially, Braden Montgomery. (Someone ahead of me will grab Travis Bazzana.)
Nicklaus Gaut
12:09
I like Simpson a lot but I'd probably rather have Caglianone

H2H points league with k penalty for hitters and short bench. Currently in 1st place so mostly aiming for upside for the playoffs. James wood is back on waivers, would you take a chance on him?
Nicklaus Gaut
12:10
He's worth a pickup as an upside flyer but his K-rate is going to put a lot of pressure on his value in your league.
buffy, the umpire slayer
12:11
The numerous rules changes have significantly impacted both hitting and pitching. The pitching academies (a fairly new concept) have had major impacts on pitchers and their pitch mixes. Finally, MLB seems to have played just enough with the ball to reduce how far it flies. The various ROS numbers cannot take all this into account as, I suspect, most of them lean strongly on prior year's numbers. My question is, what value do ROS numbers make and why should you almost never look more the three months back in a players numbers when projecting future value?
Nicklaus Gaut
12:13
The best thing ROS projections do, imo, is show you expectation baselines. From those (in which the most recent season is most heavily weighted), you then need to make your own adjustments based on the things you mentioned that aren't necessarily being taken into account.

12:14
Are there any players in this draft that will be fantasy relevant in 2025?
Nicklaus Gaut
12:15
Not anyone so relevant that they'll be worth drafting - just aren't really any of those types this year
