G'day!
11:01
It's the last week before school starts and young children are basically ticking time bombs at this point
So let's baseball!
derek
11:01
will bobby miller make an impact this season?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:01
Minimal from the fantasy side
Tyler
11:01
In a 14 team H2H points league, which would you drop, Cobb, Bobby Miller, and Max Meyer to activate Betts?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:02
I'
I'd drop Miller - feel like he'll be very hard to count on from week to week

Should I consider trading Paul Skenes in a keeper league if I’m getting someone like elly dlc or Jose Ramirez in return?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:03
If it's non- "keep forever", I'd consider it, basically betting on the chances an arm injury eats up some of this roster window
11:04
But I'd still have a hard time pulling the trigger. And likely wouldn't in a keep-forever league, unless getting just overwhelmed

Is Corbin Carroll still a keeper in a 3 player keeper league?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:04
Not for me
The Ghost of Julio
11:04
I formally cast doubt on Julio Rodriguez - formal doubt. Can such a lack of plate discipline be healed?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:05
Your doubt is noted and has been entered into the official record
11:06
In the modern age of programmable pitching machines, my feelings aren't quite as concrete as they used to be on whether whiffers can be healed. IE I'll trust the talent more
11:07
But J-Rod has been struggling with changeups since last summer, leading to further problems with fastballs eating him up more. And it just keeps not getting better.
This is very worrisome

I believe Teams have formulated secret "legal" Spider Tak. This enables better spin but enhances arm injuries for hurlers. What you think N.G.?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:09
I generally believe teams are likely pushing the very limit of what they can get away with in grip enhancers. I've done a couple of articles on spin differences over at FanGraphs and I'll probably do another at the end of the season.
Pitching
11:10
Eovaldi, Scherzer or DeGrom worth stashing or is streaming a better option
Nicklaus Gaut
11:10
Depends on your wire but Eovaldi's the best of the batch
Sox AAA
11:11
Sox moved up Mayer, Anthony, & Teel - in what order do you see their eventual fantasy impact?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:12
Mayer >> Anthony >>>>>Teel
Too soon?
11:12
Is it a year or two early to anoint Ben Joyce as the Angel's closer? He hasn;t exactly been lights out lately.
Nicklaus Gaut
11:14
Young closers will have their share of issues and Joyce might remain in a loose committee for this year. But it'll be his job to lose in 2025. Doesn't make sense for LAA to sign a closer and the rest of the bullpen is a bunch of mostly also-rans
High leverage
11:15
The Mariner have suffered not only from a lack of offense this year, but from a dearth of high-leverage relievers behind Muñoz. Suddenly, they have Yimi Garcia and last night, Troy Taylor made an impressive MLB debut. Should I pick up Taylor as a saves-and-holds guy for next year, or is one outing (albeit it with impressive AA stats behind him) too soon to tell?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:16
Probably too early now but Taylor has been great in the minors and has premium velocity. Given performance, there's not much standing in his way of racing up the leverage chart.
PANIC ???
11:17
Should I panic with Garrett Crochet's terrible outings recently? His last six starts produced a 1.81 ratio and a 6.98 ERA, albeit with good K's.
Nicklaus Gaut
11:18
No panic yet - sometimes dudes get blown up and you just have to assume he won't keep giving up multiple bombs
11:19
But I also won't discount the chances that he might just put the rest of the season on cruise after remaining in the dumpster fire after not getting traded
Chip
11:20
I sort of need innings and I have Musgrove coming off the IL against PIT. Do I tempt fate and start him?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:20
Yes against PIT but no if you also have him for start #2 in COL
riegs
11:22
What are your thoughts on JP Sears' and Nick Martinez's recent success?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:23
Both are good enough to stream and hold. I don't trust Martinez as much to continue going deep in games but Sears has been pretty decent all season outside of a few blowups. And he's been excellent since July
11:24
Just gotta know what you're buying, in that the K's won't always be high and the wins will be hard-earned.

11:25
How would you rank M Miller, D Williams, AJ Puk, R Walker and G Jax? (my league scores saves and holds equally)
Nicklaus Gaut
11:27
Miller >> Jax > Williams > Puk > Walker
Artful Dodger
11:27
While the league has had a number of pitching injuries, the Dodgers seem to be having more. There has also been a number of position injuries on the Dodgers as well. Do the Dodgers need to evaluate the training staff or player selection to see if they are making mistakes?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:28
I'd assume it isn't a Dodger-specific issue  but if it is, they're one of the few organizations that might figure out how to fix it.
