Morning, y'all
We chat!

My lineup has been devastated by injury for the playoffs, head to head points with k penalty. Would you trust Torkelson and Crews down the strech?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:09
Crews - Yes. If you're devastated on injuries, than he's a fine of a risk/reward play as you'll find. And no history of K issues to weigh him down, actually improved his discipline at every stop
Tork???
11:10
I want to believe this is the start of a real turnaround. Unfortunately, I've believe the same thing about three other times.
I understand him as a desperate play but he's still in "lotto ticket" land
Mark Vientos
11:12
I neglected my 3rd base position in my keeper league because I had no good options during the draft.  Mid-season I picked up Mark Vientos and now I'm wondering what to make of him and if I should keep him.  I didn't think one could hit .260 with a 40+% strike out rate and over a full season is a 30+HR guy or does the strike out rate catch up with him and next season will be a big regression?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:14
I'm a pretty big fan - always liked the stick and while the strikeouts aren't ideal they're not so bad in today's baseball. A 30% K% can play fine in today's game and he's now under that with an MiLB history that says that's about what he's always been
I'd be pretty happy with him as a young dynasty 3B

Hi,  In my dynasty league (with 240 prospects), a manager wants me to trade Jhonkensy Noel to him.  He is offering Quinn Mathews and Kumar Rocker.    I may be able to get him to replace Rocker with Augustin Ramirez.

What are you thoughts (long term) about Jhonkensy Noel.  His 12 HR in 112 AB looks great.

What are your thoughts about Quinn Mathews, Kumar Rocker and Augustin Ramirez?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:17
I'm concerned about his long-term outlook even though I love the power profile.
His discipline has improved a lot on the surface but he really, really loves to chase
11:18
I worry about his ability to adjust to the adjustments
my no longer young pitchers trio
11:20
I've been carrying the trio of Reid Detmers, Triston McKenzie, and Edward Cabrera for the last few years hoping one or more of them would become upper tier fantasy pitchers worth keeping.  It's getting to the point where I can't keep them all anymore, so who do you like most going forward - not just next season but next 10 seasons?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:20
yo - you're speaking to my soul
Those three smh
11:21
I'll still say it's Detmers - I just can't quit him

Why do the Nats keep playing J Gallo? Don't they have AA/AAA guys they should be seeing? (I know they brought up Crews) but wasting ABs on Gallo seems idiotic.
Nicklaus Gaut
11:21
It is idiotic
11:22
Which is how MLB executives love to act when it comes to sunk costs
IE "We're paying him $2.5 million so he damn well better play"
*fist shaking*
11:23
No legitimate reason to keep trotting his corpse out there

What are your thoughts on Colt Keith down the stretch?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:25
Love the bones of his profile but worry this might be a sputter to the end
Monster July and not much since
11:26
notably, he is still smashing fastballs but has really been struggling with breaking/offspeed
this will continue to not go unnoticed

Is Nasty back to being a Dirty Dawg after dominating Guards? Is today's game vs. Nat a trap game?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:28
Great matchup as long as you don't expect a lot of Ks
WSH has been basically a bottom-5 team vs LHP since the ASB
But also have a sub-20% K%

I can understand why the O's are reluctant to deal prospects after Norby trade. (A)Resigning Corbin or (B)Soto staying in Pinstripes. Which option is essential?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:29
I think it's Soto
Love Corbin but the SP market is heavy for 2025.
11:30
Soto is just a different kettle and should be treated as such

I'm looking for a hitter to stream for the next week or so, who do you like most out of JD Martinez, L Nootbaar, P Meadows, R McMahon, and C Blackmon? (7 games at Coors against bad pitching looks really good but I'm a little hung up on how bad McMahon and Blackmon have been recently)
Nicklaus Gaut
11:31
Yeah, Blackmon and McMahon have been stru-uggling - but I'm still  taking that juicy homestand. Might not work but it's the smartest bet
11:32
But I also really, really like Meadows this week
