Morning, y'all!
11:00
It's a cold and rainy day in the STL and we got our last chat until closer to drafting season

Strategy Q
11:00
In my daily moves league, I cut my one bench bat (Delucca) for an RP (Quijada), figuring that most I would get from him is a Thursday game when a possible vulture win/save was more valuable. Was that a bad idea?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:01
Not if it fit your specific goals. This time of year, I'm super Team-"do whatever strategy you think gives you the best chance to win"
normality be damned
11:02
Attack those margins, baby!
The 6th Borough
11:02
In a starts-capped league, is it rostering Yarborough (maaaybe a follower vs MIA) too silly or just silly enough?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:02
Just silly enough (if you have the room)!
Using followers to take advantage of a starts-capped league is basically my love-language
11:03
Yarbrough the follower is in my own personal Fantasy HOF
Starts Started
11:04
For legal reasons, I can only get one of Bryce Miller's starts this week. Should I start him @HOU tonight or wait til he faces Oakland at home on Sunday, knowing full well that there might be no such start?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:05
I think you ride/die for the Oakland start
Combination of @HOU shaping up as a terrible matchup with the (possible) OAK start matching up like a monster

I'm in a tight 2 week championship (H2H categories with OPS instead of avg) - What to do about Ian Happ? He sat with lower back tightness yesterday and as someone who is coming off a lower back injury myself, I'm concerned. With the Cubs pretty much out of the wild card race, seems like he could be a candidate to get some rest this week. I have Brendan Rodgers or Jasson Dominguez as a potential fill ins?  If he's sitting today, would you still roll him out? Even if he's starting, would you roll him out over those two players?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:07
sweet lord help me...
I'd rather have Brendan Rodgers over both
11:08
Just so we're all clear: a bunch of junky COL hitters deciding a bunch of championships via a monster Coors week is EASILY the funniest timeline
11:09
Everyone should be rooting for Nolan Jones having a four-HR week

11:09
Do you think Colorado will ever have a cy young winner? Is my team doomed to only producing valuable hitters?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:09
Literally never
11:10
I've written about this before but it's not just pitching at Coors - it's also how much it messes you up on the road. Pitchers basically have to learn two sets of stuff because everything moves so differently. Impossible situation

Wrong number!
Rank my depth
11:12
Could you please rank my starting OF for keeper purposes. R, HR, RBI, SB, OBP - Riley Greene, ONeil Cruz (assuming he's an OF now), Michael Harris, Jackson Chourio, Juan Soto, Kyle Schwarber.

Could you also please rank my second string IF - Brice Turang, Jordan Westburg, Masyn Winn, Jace Jung, Deyvison De Los Santos
Nicklaus Gaut
11:13
Soto >>>> Schwarber > Chourio > Greene > Cruz > Harris
11:14
Turang > Westburg > Jung > De Los Santos > Winn
Lance McCullers Jr.
11:14
I stashed Lance McCullers Jr. on my IR because I can carry him until cuts in March prior to our draft.  It's a partial keeper league, so what would you suggest I look for with him over the winter & spring training before having to make my decision to keep or cut him?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:15
You should look to see if he is on your roster. If he is, you should cut him.
I kid, I kid
11:16
But if you set his rest-of-career IP at 100, I'd take the under

Okay, Nick, it's crunch time and I need your help.  5x5 weekly, NL-only, and my path to victory requires me to lower my ERA and WHIP.  Wins *might* help a little, but that's secondary, and Ks and SV don't matter.  Given that, which of these SP would you start, and which would you sit?  It's a bunch of ugly choices:
K. Gibson (prob. at COL, maybe at SF)
J. Irvin (vs. PHI)
L. Webb (at ARI)
J. Musgrove (at LAD)
Y. Yamamoto (at COL)
M. Mikolas (at SF)
R. Ray (maybe he makes a start vs. STL)

11:16
Crunch time - let me crunch them numbers quickly
11:17
Webb for sure
