I think I would have liked being a commercial pilot
Angels

If you could do it over, what would you do different ?
Dan Haren
6:57
In life or baseball? Haha…. Well in baseball I don’t have many regrets…. I signed an extension with Dbacks that maybe cost me tens of millions lol…. But I’m happy (boarding southwest flight now)
Rob

Do you support the outlaw of the shift? And as a pitcher was it frustrating when a guy would hit the ball where the SS or 2B normally would have been?!
Dan Haren
6:58
Rewarding hitters for not being able to hit the ball all over the yard? No thx
Angels

Hi Dan, you made 32 starts your last season. You mentioned your body was failing you but did you just not get offers or just wasn’t into it anymore? It always seemed like you stopped so abruptly.
Dan Haren
7:00
I knew it was over, it was hurting to walk let alone pitch
Ken
7:00
Hi Dan! What was it like to pitch in Dodger Stadium? And any memories with Vin Scully?
Dan Haren
7:00
Vin scully called me “the pride of Pepperdine” , that’s pretty cool
Rob
7:01
Anyone ever charge the mound on you?!
Dan Haren
7:01
No they were probably scared…. I always lifted biceps and triceps in between starts
Kyle
7:01
Do you think guys like Bonds, Clemens belong in the HOF?
Dan Haren
7:02
Maybe this is unpopular opinion but yes I do

You were my favorite pitcher growing up. Felt like you were such a control artist. Did you ever feel like you were underrated and did it rub you the wrong way or motivate you? I thought so
Dan Haren
7:03
I mean I never really thought of myself as underrated, I thought I was good and got respect. Was always proud of my durability
Ryan
7:03
How old were you when you realized you thought you had a legit shot at making the MLB?
Dan Haren
7:04
Probably not until I was successful in the minor leagues
Matt
7:05
Who’s the best catcher you’ve ever worked with?
Dan Haren
7:05
Jeff Mathis and Aj ellis
Mr. Padre
7:06
Is there a pitcher you wish you could have back that still haunts you today?
Dan Haren
7:06
Barry bonds hit 1 homer off me, it was on a 3-0 count….. I should have just walked him!!!
Dknight

What’s the hardest part about being a major leaguer?
Dan Haren
7:09
When I didn’t perform well I took it really hard…. I hated the feeling of letting my team down. It’s tough to be in a profession where you’re judged on tv and your failures are highlighted
Youth Pitching
7:10
Do you feel too much pressure is put on youth pitchers to throw hard and fast instead of accurate and under control.
Dan Haren
7:11
Seems like kids are judged now on how hard you throw, fast you run, how hard you hit the ball….. while this is probably correct we have probably devalued actual results too much
Baseball Mack
7:12
after how many years of MLB service does the MLBPA pension kick in? Is that ever a goal or something players are working towards?
Dan Haren
7:13
Players reach maximum pension at 10 years of service. At eight years of service you get a card from mlb that gets you 2 tix to any game if you show it.
Jake
7:13
Can you talk about your one career save? What do you remember about closing out that game?
Dan Haren
7:15
Great question. We were in Atlanta and I had a rally beer in the 10th, 11th and 12th….. then they told me we ran out of pitching and asked if I could do it…..
I said sure why not haha

Do you think pitching is better now than it was say, 20 years ago?  Do you think too much emphasis is put on velocity?
Dan Haren
7:18
Pitching is much better now than it was 20 years ago, it’s a different game
7:19
