haha. I was definitely not expecting 2017 to be my last season. I was still just 34 years old. But injuries got to be too much. I hope the Reds spend some money and put a winning team out there for the fans. I can sense what a good fan base it is out there, they just need to see some progress from ownership.

Thank you for doing this chat. What is it like when you're traded mid season? I would think that's one of the toughest things having to just up and move mid season.
Scott Feldman
12:51
My pleasure. The midseason trade is probably the toughest part about being a baseball player, but if you go to a winning team it makes it a whole lot easier. In the two times I was traded, that was the case. But it was much easier when I was married vs. being single

what are your thoughts on a 14 yr old pitcher throwing a curve ball? Is he too young? Will it hurt his arm tendons?  Thank you
Scott Feldman
12:52
I don't know about the medical side of curveballs, but I'd recommend learning how to spot your fastball and throw a change-up first

Did you enjoy your time in Baltimore?
Scott Feldman
12:54
YES. Some of my all time favorite teammates, great coaches, getting to play for Buck Showalter again. Camden Yards is definitely not a pitchers park, but such a beautiful place to show up to 'work'

Hey Scott, thanks for doing this!  How did you like your experience with the Cubs? Does it bother you at all that you're so well known as part of the trade for Arrieta?
Scott Feldman
12:58
I loved my experience with the Cubs. It doesn't bother me at all that people associate my time there with Jake Arrieta. He had such an amazing run there and helped the Cubs win the World Series, which was great to see. I love it when fellow pitchers do well and I was pumped for everyone in Chicago. I wish I was there to be a part of the celebration.

What was the reason you didn't participate in the 2017 WBC for Israel?
Scott Feldman
1:00
I really wanted to, but we had such a young team with Cincy that year and a lot of injuries to pitching staff. I felt like staying with the Reds for the entire spring training was the right thing to do.
1:01
Would love to go check out Israel some day though!

The Rangers got over $600 million in taxpayer dollars for the new stadium, just up front too. How do players feel about stuff like that? Does it even come up?
Scott Feldman
1:03
The business side of baseball is fascinating, but I can't say I ever paid too much attention to stadium funding.

Good afternoon Scott, big Cincinnati Reds fan here. I remember your Opening Day start in 2017. Wanted to ask you how pitching on Opening Day in Cincinnati compares to the other 2 places in which you started on Opening Day. Obviously we as fans feel it's a pretty big deal around here but would love to hear your perspective.

I remember walking to the stadium on opening day and going though the parade and all that. Really wanted to soak it in and it lived up to the hype!

Hi Scott, not sure if some of this got lost given most of your career was played in Texas, but did you realize that while you were playing every Jewish kid that has ever picked up a bat would look to you as proof that they could maybe make the MLB one day? There have never been that many Jewish players in the league so everyone where I grew up (NY) idolized you, Kinsler, Youk, Braun, etc.
Scott Feldman

Big ups to all the Jews out there!

Ya'll- thanks so much for having me. I'm sorry I couldn't get to all the questions this time, but would definitely love to come back soon and do it again. Thanks to MLBTR and all everyone who sent in your question. Until next time!
