Psalm 91
1:46
As a pro athlete, how do you balance your professional and spiritual obligations? With playing so many games and being on the road during the season, is it hard to find time to go to church and prayer?
Nick Ahmed
1:47
Going to church yes, impossible in season. But we have an organization called Baseball Chapel that comes to the ballpark for us every sunday. Prayer is all about a continual conversation and relationship with God, everywhere you go.
Jake

Make it fun! Kids learn well through fun play

For multi-sport high school athletes, when do you feel it's best to focus exclusively on baseball?
Nick Ahmed
1:49
Once you go to college. I love multiple sports as long as possible
John

What's your pre-game routine?
Nick Ahmed
1:51
Get to ballpark around 1. Eat lunch, watch video, corrective exerices and workout in weight room. Throw, ground balls, hitters meeting, eat a small snack, hit in cage and then out to the line to stretch and run.

Nick, What's the play perspective on the new schedule? excited to play teams like the yankees and blue jays every year or is it more of a why do we need to go all the way to Toronto kinda feeling?
Nick Ahmed

Love them! they are hungry and work very hard

How has your faith impacted your perspective on playing baseball?
Nick Ahmed
1:52
Its given me a new identity and perspective with which I can go out on the field and compete with freedom.

Big fan of yours. Hoping you have a healthy, productive season.  Do you feel that growing up in New England put you at a disadvantage compared to young players from SoCal or AZ who can play more months of the year as they develop?
Nick Ahmed
1:53
Only if you view it that way. I don't. It was an advantage for me to play multiple sports and develop later as a baseball player and have much more athleticism.
Paul

You were a favorite of mine on the Bourne Braves because you were so sure-handed. I played through college and developed the yips eventually. Do you remember putting your hand to your sternum - David Price does this as well - while out in the field? Seemed like a confidence move or something. Hope the Sox trade for you this year!
Nick Ahmed
1:55
Not something I remember doing but need something to focus and calmed your mind.
chris
1:55
hi nick, how do you bear witness to Jesus in the clubhouse with other players? Esp knowing that not everyone has a positive attitude towards religion/Christianity. Thanks!
Nick Ahmed
1:55
Love on my teammates and be there for them on and off the field

So I'm not an athlete, but my dad is a pretty prolific golfer. When you talk to him about it, he can perfectly recount a course he hasn't played in years, "oh yah -- the tenth hole -- that was that tricky par 4 where my friend got a birdie". With nearly 200 baseball games played a year between spring training and the regular season, do you find that you can remember small details like this - i.e. that rainy game where I hit a triple - or does it all melt together?
Nick Ahmed
1:56
Yes, there's so many details and specific moments I can remember
John
1:56
Are you picky about your glove? Do you use the same glove all year? Multiple gloves in rotation? Same model glove?
Nick Ahmed
1:56
Ive used the same glove for 5 years in a row now
chris

what was it like playing with George Springer at connecticut? could you predict that he would become such a star in MLB? especially in the playoffs
Nick Ahmed
1:57
Incredible athlete and baseball players. Not at all surprised with his success!

Can’t wait for Spring Training in Arizona this year! Which spring training stadium in Arizona is your favorite?
Nick Ahmed

Ours at Salt River Fields

Woah! So cool that you are doing this! What is it like to build relationships with guys around the team with new people entering and leaving the building every week?
Nick Ahmed
1:58
That can be tough when your teammates get traded or released. We are all human and have relationships with one another
Trea Turner
1:58
Thanks for the chat, Mr. Ahmed. I love great defense and you bring it! In your opinion, how much of it is the mental side - "wanting the ball...knowing that you will make the play so that your athleticism and instincts can take over"?
Nick Ahmed
1:58
So much! That mindset is key. My college infield coach always used to say You have to Want the ball, not just expect it.
tyler
1:59
How often do you interact with the younger middle infielders? Do you do any mentoring towards them?
Nick Ahmed
2:00
Try to build relationship in spring training.  And yea, I share and teach everything I can to them.
