Steve Adams
3:14
Greetings world. Let's discuss all of the topics that we find most important.
3:15
Brewers just designated Nick Franklin for assignment
Braun and Villar back from DL
Nats fan
3:15
Are we still in good shape to make a run in October if we get bullpen help?
Steve Adams
3:15
Wow. Grilli DFA as well
3:16
Anyhow, back to the Nats -- yeah they're in fine shape. Lineup's still stacked, deep rotation, all that. But they do need to add probably two relievers with Treinen and Glover underwhelming
Steve
3:16
What do the Red Sox do with Pablo Sandoval?
Steve Adams
3:17
At this point I'd imagine he's just going to get released eventually. They have to look at rentals this summer, and Devers will push for the job in 2018
Guest
3:17
Do Yankees go for Belt?
Steve Adams
3:18
I think they'll look at first base rentals but not someone as long-term and expensive as Belt. Doesn't seem like they've given up on Greg Bird or anything

David O'Brien is reporting that the Braves are looking to add one of Archer/Quintana/Gray at the deadline, with Archer and Quintana the favorites.
Steve Adams
3:20
They can try for Archer, but I don't think the Rays are moving him. Quintana, obviously, has a pretty good chance at being dealt this summer, and the Braves have the prospects to make it work. He'd fit in fine in terms of payroll and their timeline to contention, so sure I can see that. And DOB is obviously as good as it gets when it comes to Braves intel, so I don't doubt the accuracy of said rumor
Tigers Fan
3:21
Any other rumors for Tigers players, the fan base wants a rebuild. Will Al Alevelia give that to us?
Steve Adams
3:22
He already said he's open to dealing away veterans. You're not going to get anyone to take on the remaining Cabrera money AND give up a significant prospect haul, and there's no moving Zimmermann at this point, plus Verlander has a no-trade clause and is making $28MM in each of the next two seasons.

J.D. Martinez, Ian Kinsler, Justin Wilson, Alex Avila -- those are the guys that Detroit will market this summer, and I think they'll move Martinez, Avila and Wilson for sure.
3:23
Bryan Price saying on MLB Network Radio that Brandon Finnegan is going to miss several weeks "at least" with the injury he suffered in his first start back with the Reds
O's fan
3:24
O's suck. Why does the front office think we are buyers?
Steve Adams
3:25
Duquette's not wrong that the team has underperformed, but I can't really fathom that they're actually going to be further depleting their farm to try to piece something together this year. Then again, Duquette has never really sold since taking the helm in Baltimore. They're going to have some tough decisions this summer and this offseason with Britton and Machado a year and a half from free agency
Ian
3:26
Every fantasy owner knows not to buy high on a guy like Alex Avila, won't guys getting paid to manage teams do the same
Steve Adams
3:26
Avila has always had a huge walk rate (14% career), and now he's leading the planet in exit velocity and hard contact
3:27
Sure he's not going to keep hitting .330 or whatever he's at, but a lot of this improvement looks to have legitimacy, even after factoring in some regresssion
Mike
3:28
Does yu darvish get traded ?
Steve Adams
3:28
I don't think so, no
Marlins outrighted Christian Colon after he cleared waivers. 40-man transactions aplenty during this chat!

3:29
Any rumors on when the Rays will sign McKay?
Steve Adams
3:30
Think they have till July 15, and he was playing in the college world series for awhile, so not a surprise that it's taken a bit. He'll sign -- he's not going to pass up the $7MM+ Tampa Bay's going to give him.
Jake Taylor
3:30
Do you think Melky Cabrera and Todd Fraizer get traded? What can the Sox get in return?
Steve Adams
3:31
Yeah, but I don't think the Sox are going to get all that much. They could help themselves out by eating a bunch of the cash each is owed, but neither is going to bring back a huge return
Mike
3:31
as cheap as Avila, why not just keep him?
Steve Adams
3:31
He's a free agent at season's end, at which point he won't be nearly as cheap following his 2017 season. No guarantee he returns... may as well get something for him.
Steve
3:32
If angels make the WC should Sosh/Eppler be considered manager/GM of the year?
Steve Adams
3:33
Manager of the Year more often than not seems to be "award to the guy whose team was least likely to make the postseason but somehow did it anyway" so yeah I'd have to think Scioscia gets it if the Angels sneak in
Bmcferren
3:33
Grilling back to the Pirates?
Steve Adams
3:33
Sure once he clears waivers and they can sign him for the pro-rated minimum. I can see that.

3:34
Why couldn't the home run derby accept non All-Stars years ago?  I always wanted to see Adam "Big Donkey" Dunn in the derby.
Steve Adams
3:35
Agreed -- it's silly not to. That would've been loads of fun.
Ian
3:36
I hate when GMs won't talk about extensions until season end when it's too late because the player can almost smell the FA money because the team is worried it'll distract the players. These guys are professionals, can't they deal both?
Steve Adams
3:37
Generally speaking, teams are more open to extensions during the season than the players. There's just not much upside to taking an extension unless it's for full market value or damn close to it at this point -- from the player's vantage point, that is.

3:37
Mets will trade Jay Bruce?  Over /under ?
Steve Adams
3:37
That's not really the sort of thing to set an over/under on, but yeah I think he'll get moved in July
Twinsman
3:38
Extension candidates on the twins this coming off season? Seems like they have a budding nucleus.
