How do you think Fernando Rodney does the rest of the season?
Steve Adams
3:53
He'll be the same roller-coaster ride he always is. Missing tons of bats with questionable control and generally being that car crash/train wreck "Want to look away but can't bring myself to do so" type of guy. He's been solid since a terrible start, and there's still talent there, but I don't think he's going to be consistent for another three months. If the Snakes upgrade, deepening that relief corps would be a nice place to look, even though it hasn't been bad.
3:54
Almost any team can always find a way to improve its 'pen via trade, and the D-backs don't have many other areas of weakness.

Is Amed Rosario callup worthy?
Steve Adams
3:55
I think he is to almost everyone but the Mets. I get wanting to make sure his approach is mature enough for MLB pitching, but I'm surprised he's not up yet. That said, at this point they look headed toward a sale, so there's no real rush to get him up to help save a sinking ship.

Cueto's market has been called complex because of the opt-out.  What is a realistic return for him?
Steve Adams
3:56
It's been called complex because it legitimately is. This is the first time we've seen one of these impending opt-out guys really hit the market, and he's also not pitching up to his usual standard. I think they should still be able to get some kind of top 100 style prospect for him and another useful piece, but he's not going to fetch what he got last time he was available as a rental (three near-MLB-ready left-handed starting pitching prospects)

Any info on Luke Weaver's role with the Cards, since his newest call up?
Steve Adams

Bullpen for now, he told reporters (h/t Jen Langosch on Twitter)

robertson to nationals??
Steve Adams
4:00
At this point, I honestly think if it were going to happen, it'd have happened by now. Maybe Nationals ownership is more open to the idea of eating some money now, but the price on Robertson has only gone up this year. It's such a hot-button topic for so many people, but he Nats don't necessarily need to limit themselves only to guys that are closing right now.

Ryan Madson is freaking dealing in Oakland, and no one's traded with Rizzo more than Billy Beane. Just sayin'.

Does Mike Moustakas make sense for Yankees to replace Headley?
Steve Adams
4:02
Headley's hitting .286 with a .405 OBP in his past 120 PAs. I don't think the Yanks are in as much of a rush to trade him as most expect, even with his power completely evaporating. Plus, Royals are playing too well right now for me to call a sale likely, even though I think it's absolutely the route they should go.

When we gonna see Gonsalves get Call up ?
Steve Adams
4:04
Missed the beginning of the year due to shoulder issues, and they may want to get him some Triple-A work before taking a look. I don't think he has a lot left to show in Double-A, so I'd imagine he'll be moved up either to Triple-A or the Majors in the very near future. If I had to guess, AAA first.
Guatemala Royals
4:04
Hello from Guatemala, what starting pitcher do you think the Royals pick up?? Thanks
Steve Adams
4:05
I don't think they're really in a position to add any pieces. I still think they should be sellers, but if they do add an arm, it won't be anyone that comes with too high of an asking price. They've got to start looking long term soon -- this offseason at the latest with so many stars hitting free agency

Since headley has experience at 1st, can yankees shift him to 1st and trade and start prado at 3rd?
Steve Adams
4:07
If the Yankees put Headley at first it won't be to take on two years of an expensive, underperforming Martin Prado. They'll just play Andujar there or go for a rental like Nunez or Frazier

Correct me if I am wrong but if a player ( on the 40 man) is suspended, the team is allowed to fill that slot with someone else correct?  I ask due to Gregario and the Giants. Could we see them add Beede in his place?
Steve Adams
4:10
THE BEARD.

Yeah they opened a 40-man spot with the Gregorio suspension. I don't think they'll bring up Beede unless they have a clear rotation spot for him, which they don't seem to at the moment. (I'd be fine with them optioning Blach to get a look at him, but they may also just wait to see if they move one of their current arms. Plus, he doesn't need to be on the 40-man this winter for Rule 5 protection

What do you mean when you write h/t, (e.g h/t jen langosch on twitter)
Steve Adams
4:11
h/t = "hat tip" or (courtesy of), basically
Effectively -- Weaver told Jen that he'll be in the 'pen for now, which she tweeted out.
h/t's reasonably common shorthand and we use it on MLBTR from time to time... I've never really gotten questions on it, but maybe it's not as universal as I thought.

Do you think teams like Oakland will be asking for David Paulino now that his value droped?
Steve Adams
4:12
Generally speaking, I don't think getting popped for Boldenone is a great way to increase your trade value.
Mike Girsch

I need to make some big moves before the trade deadline to put my name on the map.

What happened to Shaw today? Saw he was removed from the game!
Steve Adams
4:14
He got hit by a pitch on the wrist, which is a bit frightening, but Milwaukee has already announced that it was precautionary because it's a 7-0 game. It doesn't sound like they're worried about a serious injury
There'll be updates on him after the game.

Anyone going to bite on Jesus Montero for one last shot?
Steve Adams
4:15
I mean, I guess maybe someone'll throw yet another minor league deal at him, but he was just released from another minor league roster.... at this point, Indy ball? Asia? Not sure what's really next for him.
Ryan Madson

Am I a fit for the Minnesota Twins?
Steve Adams
4:17
If the Twins can lower the asking price by eating the rest of the contract and they get out without dealing significant prospects, sure. But if the A's are looking inside their top 10 or something, I don't know that a 36-year-old reliever is going to be high on Falvey and Levine's list. I'm legitimately curious to see if they'd do something like trade for Gray and one of the relievers in the wake of Levine's comments, but I think Minnesota would consider that type of move a bit premature.
Would make for a fun deadline though.

Are the NL wild cards races really over?
Steve Adams
4:19
Not over, but I do think it's very likely that both Wild Cards come out of the NL West this year, yeah. I like the D-backs to hang onto one more than the Rockies at present.
