What does Zach Eflin bring to the rotation and clubhouse?
Ryan Thompson
6:31
Eflin is not only an amazing and humble human being, he is a veteran presence on the pitching side that we really need. He fills the void Kluber left.

What 2 AAA cities deserve the next MLB expansion teams?
Ryan Thompson
6:32
I want the A's to move to Vegas and the expansion teams to be Nashville and Charlotte but it'll probably be Nashville and San Antonio

Hey Ryan, who’s the toughest out in your opinion?
Ryan Thompson
6:33
I always struggled with Brett Gardner. His strike zone awareness was the best I have seen. But Shohei is one of those at bats that you really have to get creative.

Looking forward to seeing you guys in Cincinnati again this year! I'll be behind the Rays dugout for the whole series. What is the feeling around the clubhouse about the schedule change? Do the more trips make it exhausting or is the change refreshing?
Ryan Thompson
6:34
Looking forward to it! The trips out west are exhausting but I think we are all looking forward to seeing more stadiums and playing more teams each year.

Thank you for being the sidewinder we didn’t know we needed! I did see the tweets, as many others here likely, was it hard to decide to put that all onto the table? Any guys in specific reach out after the thread?
Ryan Thompson
6:37
It is always dangerous to be vulnerable on social media these days, but I felt it was the right thing to do. I was willing to take a bullet to attempt to bring light to a process that is taken place in the shadows for future players. However 99% of the feedback was positive.

How many days out of 7 can you pitch an inning in a game without feeling over worked?
Ryan Thompson
6:38
3 I think is the right answer but it depends on pitch count, bullpen work, etc

Hi Ryan, thank you for the description of the arbitration process! How was the process of acclimating to new catchers when Zunino got injured and Christian Bethancourt near the deadline? Was there any strategic disagreement or new ideas/sequences?
Ryan Thompson
6:40
It's tough to lose someone like Zunino who puts such a huge emphasis on learning pitcher tendencies and walking through game plans with guys etc, but Bethancount was about as easy of a transition as possible. It took about 1 game to get perfectly on the same page

Who on the Rays do you think is due for a breakout season?
Ryan Thompson
6:43
Basabe if he gets called up mid season or earlier I got him being top 3 rookie of the year

Thanks for doing this, interesting to get a current player and from the Rays. How do you look at things like playing time in that org and it's impact on earning potential?
Ryan Thompson
6:45
Great Q. The Rays are really smart. They know how to utilize guys and how to win games with a massive roster by season's end. I'm sure earning potential can be hindered, but only for some. If you're THE GUY, they will play you.

What’s it like warming up in TB opposed to other stadiums? I personally liked Tropicana when I visited a few years ago, and don’t fully understand the hate it gets. However, I’m not a big leaguer having to warmup in its bullpen.
Ryan Thompson
6:46
The Trop is amazing lol. I'd love to pack it out more often but when we go to Baltimore in the summer or Kansas City in April. We like the Trop a little extra
