Recent word was, like most free agents, Machado is just seeking the largest contract.  Could the Marlins swoop in and offer something in the low 200s, maybe with creative opt-outs or multi-year club options?  Sure.  After 2019, Wei-Yin Chen is the Marlins' only contract on the books, and after 2020 he's gone too and they literally have zero.  The club has all the financial flexibility in the world if they want to lock down Manny as a long-term building block.

Earlier in the off-season, there was talk of NMazara to the Braves...is that no longer a consideration? Or are the Braves keeping Maz on the back burner in case they cant land a Pollack. Or is this type of move really out of the question???

3 years of control, coming off a bad year, but only about to turn 24.  He seems like a reasonable Braves target to me.  Can't really compare without knowing the Rangers' asking price, but the Braves wouldn't lose a ton if they get Mazara instead of Pollock.

Why is no one interested in Harper? Even the Phillies haven’t made an offer.   Is the asking price just too high?

We don't know whether Harper has offers other than the Nationals' end of season bid.  He may well have a few in hand.  I don't even think there is a price.  It's just, "Everyone bid, and if it reaches a point where I think it won't go higher, I'll accept."  So I don't understand why teams aren't tossing around $250MM bids left and right just to get a conversation going and feel Boras out.

Is Vizquel actually going to make the HOF, seems like a total joke

He might crack 40% this year, and it's only his second year on the ballot.  But I don't know if Vizquel will see that steady rise to 75%, if the electorate gets younger.  I could see the Veterans Committee shoehorning him in unjustifiably a decade from now.

Can you remember a solid ROY runner up that got as much attention on trade rumors than Miggy Andujar in recent memory?

Alright, one more.

I'm gonna bring it back around to Jose Iglesias.  2013 AL runner-up after being traded in July in the deal that brought Jake Peavy to Boston and Avisail Garcia to the White Sox.  That's the closest I can get.
