The A's and Mariners will face off in Tokyo a week from Wednesday, Adam Jones has a job, and it's time for a Monday afternoon chat!

I know many of you are doing fantasy drafts now, so feel free to ask those types of questions.

Top 5 landing spots for Kimbrel?
Tim Dierkes
1:58
Best to just point you to Steve's post:
1:59
Steve concluded three days ago, "From my vantage point, the Braves, Twins, Dodgers, Phillies, Brewers and Mets have the best blends of divisional aspirations and payroll capacity to make this type of match work."
Jim Bowden has more recently said the Braves are not in, though.

What can we reasonably expect from a healthy Miguel Cabrera in ‘19?
Tim Dierkes
2:00
Maybe 500 PAs, 20 jacks, .370 OBP.  Not too shabby at DH.

Who signs first Kimbrel or Keuchel?
Tim Dierkes
2:01
Kimbrel, I guess...Andy Martino said this morning that "There is increased speculation in the game last night and today, including among teams that had checked in on Craig Kimbrel, that a resolution is getting closer in the reliever's long free agency."
I mean, a resolution almost has to be getting closer, but still.

Phillie most likely to go Papelbon on Harper? I say it's Arrieta. Im not bitter.
Tim Dierkes
2:02
No way...they share an agency and from what I saw Jake was pretty excited.  It'll be Jerad Eickhoff, mark my words.

Kris Davis---over/under .247 batting average?
Tim Dierkes
2:03
You know what? I think he's going to hit .244.

Saw this on a Reddit post earlier today. Which division do you think is more likely to send 3 teams to the postseason: the NL Central or NL East?
Tim Dierkes
2:04
Tough one!  I'll take the Central, in that any of the five teams could make the playoffs.  The East only has four such teams, though I'd understand someone picking them, since the Nationals are clearly the best of all nine clubs, giving the division a bit of a leg up.

Do you see Luzardo making the A's Opening Day Roster?
Tim Dierkes
2:05
Nope.  But imagine the positive PR a team could get for throwing, say, a Nick Senzel on the Opening Day roster and making a huge deal about how they're not worrying about 2025 like those other teams are.

2:05
Tim you have the first pick of a fantasy draft. Who are you gonna choose?
Tim Dierkes
2:06
There's no real case for anyone other than Trout.  Unless you are playing in a league that has quotability as a category.  He's a tad vanilla in that area.

Anyone out there willing to give me a chance?

We would happily give him a writing job.

you're 4 for 48 on your free agent destination predictions. thoughts?
Tim Dierkes
2:07
Heh...well in the official picks I made for our contest, I'm actually 6 for 48: https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/mlb-free-agent-prediction-contest-2019?...
So only 447 people who entered have done better.
2:08
I'd like to get 12 or 13 correct in the contest...I feel maybe I've done that once or twice?  But we at MLBTR are no better at picking FA destinations than our beloved readers.  It's true.
Meatloaf, we want it now!

Final prediction-where does Kimbrel go?
Tim Dierkes
2:10
Ugh...I guess I'll take the Phillies?
Brewing up a Winner
2:10
Would Kimbrel have a bigger impact for the Brewers than getting the ace everybody thinks they need?
Tim Dierkes
2:10
In a WAR type of sense, no, it's more likely that Keuchel could add two wins to the ledger than Kimbrel.  In more of a gut feel sense, I'd call it about a draw, in that it's easy to see Kimbrel winning the team two or more games that they might otherwise have lost.

Keuchel 2/$36 back to Houston...who says no first
Tim Dierkes
2:11
My guess is that Keuchel has already said no to a proposal from the Astros in that range.
2:12
Keep in mind the Astros let Charlie Morton go to the Rays on a 2/30 deal, and did not even make him the $17.9MM one-year qualifying offer.  So maybe they threw something more like 2/32 at Keuchel, but we don't know.

If the Red Sox extend Chris Sale they will go over the luxury tax this season correct? So why not sign Kimbrel to avoid any major leaks in the bullpen?
Tim Dierkes
2:13
I believe a new Sale deal would not include the 2019 season and so the AAV of such a contract would not come into play here.  In the case of the Red Sox, the luxury tax is a real deterrent on signing Kimbrel.

Chances I sign Keuchel, Gio, or Kimbrel?
