I hope everyone enjoyed Father's Day!  I took my kids to the batting cages and was reminded how hard hitting is (I always have to cheat just to foul off some pitches in Very Fast).  Let's get chatting!

Where will Clint Frazier be playing on August 1?
Tim Dierkes
1:50
San Fran, Toronto, or Cleveland.
CorShep

Gimme a couple pitchers who could be had by a package led by Clint Frazier and more
Tim Dierkes
1:51
Tanner Roark, Anthony DeSclafani, possibly MadBum, Anibal Sanchez...
Trader Phil
1:52
Realistic cost for the Dodgers to land Brad Hand?
Tim Dierkes
1:53
Keibert Ruiz, Gavin Lux, Dustin May - I think a package led by one of those would be reasonable based on past history.

If TEX decides to be buyer, who would a good SP target be?
Tim Dierkes
1:54
Marcus Stroman would be a fine choice, as one of the game's top groundballers.  Plus you have him for next year if the team ends up flopping.
Kyle Tucker

Who will I be starting for August 1st
Tim Dierkes
1:55
Round Rock Express

Ryan Divish, who covers the Mariners for the Seattle Times, predicted that Mike Leake might just stay with the Mariners through the season... Am I the only one that has a REALLY hard time seeing that come to fruition?
Tim Dierkes
1:57
He'll have about $43MM left on his contract through 2020 at the trade deadline, and he's a 31-year-old back of the rotation dude.  He can help someone, but it's mostly a matter of sorting out the financials.  Which the Mariners have generally been successful doing with contracts more onerous than that one.  So I'd lean toward a trade.
Matt Klentak
1:57
Who should I be looking at the hardest as far as Starting pitching goes before the deadline
Tim Dierkes
1:58
I don't know that I can see them getting Scherzer, and otherwise Matthew Boyd could be the prize if he can be had.  Guys like Kluber, Bauer, Stroman, and MadBum could all be difference-makers.

Will the Nationals stay in the "goldilocks zone" of 6-8 games back through the trade deadline and miss a chance to re-set their farm system?  Or do you see Rizzo starting to pull the trigger on any of Scherzer, Rendon, Doolittle, etc.?
Tim Dierkes
1:59
I think if they're 8+ out in late July they'll make some moves, unless ownership kills them.  But yeah, 6-7 out could result in them standing pat and regretting it.

Robbie Ray to phils? who comes back?
Tim Dierkes
2:00
The D'Backs are 2 games out in the Wild Card, so I'm not sure why they'd be looking at doing such a thing.
Big Red

Where does Cody Allen land
Tim Dierkes
2:01
Let's go wiiiith....the Rays.

2:02
If the giants dont trade MadBum to the Yankees for Frazier, who could the Giants send at that point for him?
Tim Dierkes
2:02
It would be a bit of an embarrassment of riches but I could see the Yankees considering moving Frazier for Will Smith.  But only if they somehow first acquired an SP without using Frazier (which is plausible).
Dustin
2:03
If the Nats were to move Scherzer what would they be asking in return?  Any recent comps?
Tim Dierkes
2:06
Not in the last few years.  In terms of a bona fide ace being dealt, it could have shades of the Cole Hamels deal in 2015.  Tough guy to deal though...I think Scherzer ultimately stays.

Is Texas serious about trading Mike Minor?
Tim Dierkes
2:06
If the season ended today, the Rangers would be in the playoffs, so...no?
CorShep
2:07
Surely you can't be serious with Roark and Sanchez.. I meant what type of pitchers SHOULD the yanks trade Frazier for.
Tim Dierkes
2:08
So I think Frazier could headline a deal for a decent mid-rotation arm.  Maybe a rental, maybe control for 2020.

What would Rays have to give up for Lindor?
Tim Dierkes
2:08
I feel like if you're the Indians, you need Wander Franco in that deal.
Danimal
2:09
What would Trevor Bauer cost the Cardinals?  The Cards/Indians have matched up well as trade partners in the past.
Tim Dierkes
2:11
I could see Nolan Gorman as the headliner of such a trade.  I can't find a great comp in the last two Julys though.  I was thinking about how the A's got three 55 prospects from the Yankees for Sonny Gray when he had 2.3 years of control, but Bauer has 1.3.  So I don't know if maybe one 55-60 (Gorman) plus another strong piece gets it done.

Are the Cubs showcasing adbert alozay this week for a potential middle relief trade or just hogwash?
Tim Dierkes
2:12
I think Alzolay just makes sense as Kyle Hendricks' fill-in.  Possible eventual mid-rotation guy and pretty much MLB ready.
Chris
2:12
How realistic is it for the Twins to get someone like degrom or wheeler or Strasburg?
Tim Dierkes
2:13
I don't think the Mets will trade deGrom having just signed him.  Strasburg isn't out of the question, but his contract would be a major complication.  Of those three I'd consider Wheeler the most likely, should the Mets drop 2-3 more games back in the WC.
Will Smith
2:14
what is my current trade value and will I remain in the Black and Orange come August 1st?
Tim Dierkes
2:14
Probably the best reliever available and a near-lock to be dealt:
