Is it bad that I hope the Pens lose, get a shot at the #1 overall pick, and can retool for Crosby era part  3? I say that simply because there’s no way they can go all the way this year, even if they claw back and win this series. This team just isn’t built to go deep.

I think you can take solace in the possibility after the fact. I'm not sure it's something you root for as a Penguins fan. You only have so many runs left with Crosby/Malkin. Can't just write one off. Certainly not one where you're starting against the 12th seed in the conference.

Well at least the Bucs are on! Oh wait they lost and they are 2-10. Steelers training camp anyone? No seriously if the pens can dig out of this hole this may help them for the next round as they will obviously be battle tested. If they don’t make it out of the first round Rutherford has to at least think about some major changes.
