I was ticketed for inability to show proof of insurance. I was insured but ticket is past contesting period. Is it possible to provide proof and lessen the total?

Thank you. How can we stay informed on the process and be involved in market research?

DC DMV is in conversation with a number of potential vendors for a mobile ID option.  Apple is only one potential vendor.  Council passed the Bill in December of 2021.  We continue to do market research on the option to help determine our final timeline.

May we have an update on when DC will be able to use an electronic ID such as the Apple Wallet ID? I am glad the Council approved it and that the DMV is working on it.

Hello, I apologize for the issues.  Yes, our system is old and outdated.  We currently have an RFP out on the street to secure a new system and it can't come soon enough.  With that said, the issues raised should not have happened.  If you can DM me the ticket numbers and your contact info, we will confirm the status of your tickets and research to resolve the issue for future customers.

Hi Director Robinson,

I have two questions that I want to ask you. The first is concerning your systems, which feel to me to be very outdated and full of bugs, which leads to organizational dysfunction and a bureaucratic nightmare. To give you two examples

 - I attended a virtual hearing 3/16/22 2 1.30pm - I was unable to log on to the Cisco Webex conferencing system via any of my computers. If I did not have the wherewithal to try my phone, I would've missed the hearing and verdict would've been placed in my absence.

- I received two emails on March 27th - indicated that I had two hearings coming up
- the first one was for the hearing on 3/16/22 - ten days after I attended the hearing, so why am I receiving notification for a past hearing?
- the second one was for a in person hearing dated for 4/14/22 @ 10am - But I have already long received a post card for this ticket, informing me that the ticket was dismissed.

So my first subset of questions are a) what are you doing about an archaic system that i

I'm now ready to take your questions related to any DMV service and activity. If you have a question not related to DMV, I'll try my best to redirect you to the appropriate agency.  Also, I may not be able to answer specific questions which require research related to DMV issues since I only have an hour to chat. Therefore, if your question is specific to your driver license, a ticket, etc, I may request you submit it to us by email (dmv@dc.gov) or service request (http://311.dc.gov).

Good afternoon and welcome to today’s online chat with me, Gabriel Robinson, DMV Director. Today, we’ll discuss your various DMV issues related to driver licenses and identification cards; vehicle inspections, titles and registrations; and the adjudication of photo, parking and moving violations. We have over 55 online services (http://dmv.dc.gov/page/online-services) and seven facilities which provide in-person service to 2,800-3,300 daily customers. In regards to tickets, we have two main sister agencies: DDOT which regulates parking (i.e., signage, meters and parking permits) and DPW/DDOT which issues parking tickets, along with 30 plus other entities in the District. Also, MPD issues photo enforcement tickets.
