Many of the guiding principles used by the jurisdictions can be found here:  https://aamva.org/topics/mobile-driver-license?#?wst=4a3b89462cc2cff2c...

Totally understood that the requirements for digital drivers licenses are lengthy. Can I request them or an RFP or similar from someone on your team?  Thanks!

Hello.  The requirements are too long for this communication, but we are following the same model and standards as other jurisdictions.  The DC DMV has completed a number of the requirements behind the scene.  I am not prepare to announce a solution at this time.

Hello!  Thanks for taking questions. Can you please share what your goals and requirements are for digital drivers licenses?  I’m trying to understand what requirements you gave the vendor(s), whether there is a competitive bid, and how much of the work needed is internal to the DMV. I have read the law passed by the council but I’m looking for information about the solution. Thanks!

This topic is on the radar and we are engaging in talks with potential vendors.  Once we are sure we have a viable option that will be safe and secure, we will announce.

Thanks. Glad to hear it’s still on the radar. It would be helpful since surrounding airports use it and are still confused with our ID without statehood. Also, Maryland has it too. Is there a timeline with the city council legislation? Or by you as the leader?

Is this working?

Hello.  Unfortunately, I am unable to answer your question.  You may consider contacting the Department of Public Works (DPW) or MPD to determine if they removed the vehicle.  This is not something the DMV would do.

I am a senior, and I have a car in my yard that I cannot afford to register at this time and I got a notice that the District can come on my property and remove the car without my consent.   Why would the District want to take my property that is on my property?

Thanks for the feedback.  I will have the team review the matter and how we can improve.

It was the Georgetown location. It should also be noted that on the first visit they blamed 311. My perspective is that it is one government and you all should be more coordinated.

Hello.  The DMV is still working the matter behind the scene.  When we reach an agreement with a vendor and sure we can offer an option that is safe and secure, we will provide a more robust update.

Hi. I’m online to find out an update on the digital ID and driver’s license for iPhone. It’s been several months without any updates or movement on this topic.

I wanted to share my recent experience at DMV. My husband moved out of state and the cars were registered in his name, DC didn’t tell us when he moved that the registrations were canceled. We went to renew them online and could not do so, my husband called 311 and asked how to register them, and they told him to just come into the DMV. He did that and was told they would need to be moved to my name. I went down with all of the documents noted on the website only to have DMV come up with more documents that I did not have and we’re not noted on the website. On the third visit, they decided they wouldn’t except the lien release from Ford motor company. This was an absolute disaster and on the fourth visit they didn’t even asked to see the revised lien release .

Hi
DC Dept of Motor Vehicles
I'm now ready to take your questions related to any DMV service and activity. If you have a question not related to DMV, I'll try my best to redirect you to the appropriate agency.  Also, I may not be able to answer specific questions which require research related to DMV issues since I only have an hour to chat. Therefore, if your question is specific to your driver license, a ticket, etc, I may request you submit it to us by email (dmv@dc.gov) or service request (http://311.dc.gov).

Good afternoon and welcome to today’s online chat with me, Gabriel Robinson, DMV Director. Today, we’ll discuss your various DMV issues related to driver licenses and identification cards; vehicle inspections, titles and registrations; and the adjudication of photo, parking and moving violations. We have over 55 online services (http://dmv.dc.gov/page/online-services) and seven facilities which provide in-person service to 2,800-3,300 daily customers. In regards to tickets, we have two main sister agencies: DDOT which regulates parking (i.e., signage, meters and parking permits) and DPW/DDOT which issues parking tickets, along with 30 plus other entities in the District. Also, MPD issues photo enforcement tickets.
