Hi there, thanks for your question. DMV does not boot or tow vehicles - the tow truck team is under Department of Public Works (DPW).

Are there plans to expand the DC tow truck team? It seems fairly small considering the size of our city.

Yes, you will need to convert the Maryland license. This can be done at a DMV service center location with the appropriate documentation.

Sorry to ask a clarifying question, this says convert your  DC DMV provisional license online, but I still have a Maryland provisional license...would I need to covert my Maryland provisional license first at a DMV location to obtain a DC provisional license?  THank you

Hello, Follow up on my previous questions: Can you tell me how to appeal a series of old fines that DMV only told me about when I tried to register a new vehicle?  These were fines apparently because I had an uninsured vehicle although I had sold every vehicle before stopping the insurance policy.

Hi there, thanks for your inquiry. There is a Photo Enforcement Moving Violations Public Inquiry Portal. You must have the ticket number and PIN from the lower right corner of your citation or notice to access images at the site.

Hello, I'm interested in determining if the District makes available to the public, through any online database, some record of prior decisions made by hearing officers for photo enforcement tickets? Thank you.

Good morning. I just moved to DC from Maryland. I currently have a Maryland Provisional Drivers License that I obtained in December 2023. When I go to the DC DMV to transfer to DC, will be transfer to a DC provisional or do will I have to start over?

Does DC plan to roll out digital ID/Drivers license through the Apple and Android wallet?

I'm now ready to take your questions related to any DMV service and activity. If you have a question not related to DMV, I'll try my best to redirect you to the appropriate agency. Also, I may not be able to answer specific questions which require research related to DMV issues since I only have an hour to chat. Therefore, if your question is specific to your driver license, a ticket, etc., I may request you submit it to us by email (dmv@dc.gov) or service request (http://311.dc.gov).

Good afternoon and welcome to today’s online chat with me, Chiderah Monde, DMV’s public information officer. Today, we’ll discuss your various DMV issues related to driver licenses and identification cards; vehicle inspections, titles, and registrations; and the adjudication of photo, parking and moving violations. We have over 60 online services (http://dmv.dc.gov/page/online-services) and seven facilities which provide in-person service to 2,800-3,300 daily customers. In regard to tickets, we have two main sister agencies: DDOT which regulates parking (i.e., signage, meters, and parking permits) and DPW/DDOT, which issues parking tickets, along with 30 plus other entities in the District. Also, MPD issues photo enforcement tickets.

Good morning, please submit your questions now. The chat session begins at 12PM (NOON) EST.
