What do Reciprocity stickers/permits for part-time District residents look like? Do they look/are they the same like identification cards? END

To obtain a DC driver license, you would need to convert any out-of-state license you currently have and provide proof of residency that your primary residence is in DC.

Suggest checking with your probation/parole office for documentation confirming your date of birth, social security # and, and residency. This information can be provided to DMV for an ID card. Driver license eligibility would be determined at that time.

Good afternoon and welcome to today’s online chat with me, Jamie Miller, Public Information Officer with DC Department of Motor Vehicles. Today, we’ll discuss your various DMV issues related to driver licenses and identification cards; vehicle inspections, titles and registrations; and the adjudication of photo, parking and moving violations. We have over 55 online services (http://dmv.dc.gov/page/online-services) and seven facilities which provide in-person service to 2,800-3,300 daily customers. In regards to tickets, we have two main sister agencies: DDOT which regulates parking (i.e., signage, meters and parking permits) and DPW/DDOT which issues parking tickets, along with 30 plus other entities in the District. Also, MPD issues photo enforcement tickets.

I'm now ready to take your questions related to any DMV service and activity. If you have a question not related to DMV, I'll try my best to redirect you to the appropriate agency.
