Hey, all! Opening this up a few mins early; as the queue is packed. Will get to as many as I can. Great time of year for sure; onward!

Matt cederholm gave nick lodolo a 3.5 on the Big Hurt index. Does his Sunday start change that risk assessment, or is this as good as it gets for him this season?
Brent Hershey
11:58
We'll stick with that for now; just so much unknown about the leg injury; just in terms of it still being there after a 'regular' offseason. Perhaps with a few more starts before opening day, that figure becomes a bit more positive. Huge upside, but just know the risk is still big, too.

How does a shift from a 12-team -only league to a 9-team league impact values?  Obviously, some $1 players will no longer be draftable, but should players at the top get more money or players in the middle?
Brent Hershey
12:01
All depends how you play (your own style), but there's a case to be made that you could go stars/scrubs a bit easier (better replacements in the pool). BHQ subscribers can run the numbers for both with a bunch of different settings in our Custom Draft Guide. (Yep, a shameless plug.)

With Marte suspended, do you now anticipate a starting role for Encarnacion-Strand?
Brent Hershey

Definitely provides a half-season cover for many of the Reds infielders. Our PT TODAY column (FREE SAMPLE TODAY!) has more details.

hello - My question is on Wyatt Langford & Jackson Chourio.  HQ has always tempered expectation for rookies and I have noticed its been difficult for me to get either of these players in drafts using the custom draft guide.  Rotowire has Langford at 38th overall and Chourio at 159.  You guys have 5 other players ahead of them in your prospect rankings.  Is a .275 20hr/20sb season with 160+ R/RBI total that likely to vault him (WL) into the top 50?  And, is there that much real estate between these 2 players?  thanks for your consideration.
Brent Hershey
12:08
Yup, we definitely play the percentages on rookie projections (meaning, so many fail to meet expectations in their first year). But this is a good reminder that the team you draft is yours! The type of season you suggest for WL would certainly put him in that Top50 conversation. For me personally, I'm more likely to draft Chourio than Langford for 2024 (assuming more or less same cost) b/c of a longer track record in the minors as well as his MLB deal. But those are the kinds of decisions we each need to make. Two of the most talented players who haven't seen the majors yet for sure. The question to roster comes down to your own risk tolerance.

Thank you for all the great content.  Al-Only, 12-Team 4x4 Roto Keeper ($260/23). Which BOS OF (Abreu or Rafaela) is more interesting for this season?  Are either restorable at $10 (keeper league with some inflation, and OF will get thin fast).
Brent Hershey
12:10
Both super interesting; I slightly lean Rafaela b/c of the CF defense and slightly more fantasy-friendly profile (more speed), though have Abreu on several teams already also. Similarly, I'd think CR is more keeper worthy at 10 than Abreu.

Will there be a league sync for Fantrax?
Brent Hershey
12:11
Unlikely from the start; working on getting them signed on, though.

Thx for all the insight.  Where do you come out on PT and ABs for Junior Caminero this season.  The Rays are maddening at times, but I look at who is slated to get ABs over him -- Aranda, Ramirez, and to a lesser extent Caballero (Dif. skill set there) -- and I can't help but think that after ~April 22 )where I believe they retain an extra year of control on him) he is up and raking for 400-450 ABs.  Paredes and Randy A. are the only other real power bats in the entire lineup.   Your take?
Brent Hershey
12:14
Yep, mostly agree. Feel like the talent level is so high that even if he starts in the minors, he'll be up very soon, and when he is, I expect the Wander Franco treatment -- meaning that he ultimately is insulated from all the Tampa platooning and is in the lineup most days. The power + BA profile is real.

In a 12 team head to head points league, is Emmet Sheehan worth holding on to in redraft leagues or should I cut him?
Brent Hershey
12:18
Feels like a cut in that format.

Hello Brent!  Need some help with my NL only 12 team roto.  Keeper deadline is Thursday, and I doubt the roster situation is resolved by then, BUT do you think Max Meyer ($5) is worth keeping.  I have some decent pitchers that I'm keeping aside from him, but at his cost, I was trying to weigh out whether he will even be in the Starting rotation. Thanks!!!
Brent Hershey
12:18
Have my doubts that he'll break camp in the rotation/on the roster. I guess in an NL-only I could see keeping him there -- but if you have decent depth otherwise, I'd probably throw him back. The two-pitch-heavy arsenal feels like something he still needs to overcome, even with the filthy SL of his.

Which AL $1 catchers scare you the least in OBP? It's rough out there
Brent Hershey
12:22
It is. Matt Thaiss and Max Stassi have shown decent walk rates in the past.

Hi Brent, between Chayce McDermott and Cade Povich who do you think has a bigger impact this year? When do you see either of them up?
Brent Hershey
12:27
It's close; think I trust McDermott a bit more. Better strikeout upside if he can find some better control. Both got a bit of AAA time last year, and given the O's playoff aspirations, I think the team would probably prefer each gets as much time at that level as possible—though injuries could force their hand. WIth a healthy starting 5, you may not see either until August.

Encouraging velocity reports on Beiber - how much confidence do you have in him in standard 12 team roto leagues?
Brent Hershey
12:29
Don't hate the ADP where he's going currently in a 12-teamer. Velocity loss last few years was the story; if that's back for good he seems like a good rebound candidate (to that mid-rotation level; he's not a SP1-2 for me)

Which closer is the safest bet for 2024 relative to their draft cost? Clase, Hader, Jansen, Kimbrel?
Brent Hershey
12:31
Clase; feel like he's still top-tier, and 2023 is pushing him down the list some. Seems entrenched in the role, so saves will follow — which is the #1 thing we want from a closer, right?

Is Jackson Holliday a viable starting option at SS in shallow mixed leagues?
Brent Hershey
12:33
If he makes the team, probably yes. Has on-base skills that at the very least should give him good counting stats in that BAL lineup. And as we saw yesterday, there's pop in there, too. So impressive that the HR was off a seasoned MLB starter (Kikuchi)

rank these MI in a 12 team mixes h2h categories leagues; Semien, Bo, Horener, McClain. Who would you target out of this group at their respective costs?
Brent Hershey
12:35
Would target Bo first respective to cost.

General rank: Bo, Semien, McLain, Hoerner -- though McLain's injury defintiely raises his risk some.

Is  Arjun Nimmala omitted from the HQ100 mostly due to proximity? Looking for high upside prospects regardless of how long it may take to get him to the bigs
Brent Hershey
12:37
Mostly; yes — 25 pro AB for a HS draftee is just not much to go on. Definitely high upside in a dynasty format, though.

Chances that Luis Robert puts together a $30 season?
Brent Hershey
12:41
25%? Batting average, if the K rate continues, is what is going to keep him from that threshold. Well, that and health. Power/speed numbers are going to be there for sure.

Which prospect do you like best as a 2024 contributor: Lawlor, Crews, or James Wood? (12-team OBP)
Brent Hershey
12:43
Lawlar. Feel like he's closer to an everyday job than the other two, and could have a CJ-Abrams-like SB impact when he gets the call.
Will say, though, that Wood's spring has definitely opened some eyes. He's still not had AAA time, though -- so making that WAS roster right out of spring will be more difficult. Next two weeks are obviously big on that front

Hiya Brent,
I have 2 questions about NL 5x5 freeze options. I have Austin Riley at $35. I think he may go for $40 (but it's a lot of money to tie up --on the other hand, a bird in the hand...)

Henry Davis is mine at $8 and I think with his hand injury behind him and his elite prospect status, he could be a great pick but is $8 too much for him?
Brent Hershey
12:46
Yeah, Riley at 35 seems worth it, assuming you're not taking in too many of those big-ticket keepers. Davis -- that $8 is tricky for sure. If I knew he was going to catch for sure, that would lean me towards keeping him. And obv the hot spring helps a ton. I'd probably frame it as ... if you threw him back, how much would it take to roster him in the open market? If you think it's 10 or 12 b/c your league is in on prospects, or pays up for ST darlings ... then maybe you do keep. If not, maybe the flexibility (can always buy him back) is worth it. Good luck!
Dan
12:49
What to do with Puk?  Had him last year as a closer for $5 and had no intention to keep him.  Now as a starter and looking good so far in a Marlins rotation starting to look thin, having second thoughts.  In a 4x4 NL only with pitching going to be at a high demand and prices usually going way more than they should, do I  1) keep him with his known risks with the idea that he may do well or later be switched back to closer if Scott continues to falter or 2) drop him and use his $5 to pay up for someone more reliable and also much more expensive ($5 starters are always nice!)  Thanks as always!
