Happy Monday, chatters! Predictably, lotsa questions in the queue already, but continue to fill it up and I'll breeze through as many as I can. Reference our guidelines above, I'll skip over open-enders and circle back only if it have time. Thanks ... let's go!

Hi! 12-tm, H2H, category … want to drop a bat to create bench slot for streaming or adding a pitcher (i.e., Wrobleski). All were auction targets, but could you see dropping any of Matt McLean, Jorge Polanco, Jacob Marcee, Luke Keashall? In what order? Thanks !
Brent Hershey
12:03
Wow; even in 12s, I think I'd want all of those guys as options. If you're making me choose one to drop, I guess it would be Polanco.

Hi Brent,   Just finished our draft for a 6X6 Mixed 14-team Rotisserie draft.  As always, I missed out on a lot of players I wanted, but with some tweaks, I think my roster will play.          1) Is Jordan Lawler a good bet to break out this year?  I waited all year in 2025.                                                                2) Chistian Walker, Jake Burger or Ivan Herrera for the Utility spot?                                                                                                 3) I have Swanson, Polanco and Pena covering my middle.  Strong enough?  Is Baty a good addition to the mix?                 4) Six starters: Gausman, Bradish, Eovaldi, Imai and Painter.  I need to add one from R. Lopez, Shane Smith, Musgrove (when healthy), Lugo or Littell.  I know I am taking some risk with Imai/Painter.  What would you advise?   4) Add one from Keith, Doyle, Sanchez to fill out my roster?   Thanks
Brent Hershey
12:06
1) If health cooperates, yes.
2) Herrera
3) It's OK, more floor than ceiling. Baty would be a nice add as another option, yes
4) Lopez first, but keep an eye on Smith. Am not interested in Musgrove right now
4-b) Doyle

TJ Rumfield is available in my league as a Free Agent.  Is he a good dart throw knowing that Condon is "on-the way" in the future?  Can the 'Rocks find a place in their line-ups for the both of them?
Brent Hershey
12:08
Coming into camp Condon only had a half-year at AA, in AAA to start now. Would not let him stand in the way of your pursuing Rumfield right now. TJ is a decent shot to take.

Happy baseball!  From an 8A prospect and a Top 30 HQ Prosepect in 2025, Rhett Lowder, who appears healthy, doesn't seem to be getting much love on the SP Matchups tool nor from Baseball HQ in general.  Not a bad first start either against BOS in the Cincy bandbox.  Why the cold shoulder?
Brent Hershey
12:10
Partially b/c Matchups tool usually takes several starts to stabilize. Also, the missed time from 2025 means we don't have a ton of minors data to go on. It's not a slam-dunk, but I give you permission to play your gut here until our MLB data catches up. :-)

AL only, standard rotis with keepers, QS+W is one category. Picked up Mike Burrows as a cheap 5th starter. I know it’s only 1 start but limited options available. Would you replace with: Boyle, Bradish, Cantillo? Thanks as always.
Brent Hershey
12:13
Hmm. Burrows a big fave of mine pre-season, and I'm ready to be patient. That said, Bradish is probably safer and a better long-term bet. Very close on those two, who are a step above the remaining duo

Ben Brown was recently picked as one of the best 6th starters to stash in an HQ article. In a keeper league, would you drop R Weiss, J Latz or Hunter Barco for him? Thank You!
Brent Hershey
12:14
Yes to Weiss, who for me has the least long-term value (and most to prove in MLB). Brown could end up as bullpener, but take the skills shot here now.

Quick note related to Schanuel: here's a great example — or COULD be a great example — of why to never write off hit-tool-first youngsters who play every day. Doesn't happen in every instance of course, but when you make contact as a skill coming up, sometimes the power comes later .. and then you have something. Not the same player, and different points int their career, but there are similarities btw Schanuel and, say, TJ Rumfield. TJR was known as a hit-tool-first 1B with limited power for a while. Started getting to more punch last year in AAA. Interested to see what he does in Coors.
Ok, back to reg scheduled chatting ... :-)

12:19
Expectations for Schanuel going forward? He has 2 HR’s already?
Brent Hershey
12:19
Think it could be a power breakout season. Bat speed and launch angle numbers keep going up. Wish I had him on a couple teams (don't have him anywhere, I don't think)
Brent Hershey
12:19
Sorry, got those last two out of order ... ah, well!

12:20
Randy Vasquez. One good outing or a sign of things to come?
Brent Hershey
12:20
Late season 2025 and spring 2026 show this is a different guy. Schanuel of pitchers, perhaps? I'm taking shots on Vasquez in a bunch of places. Come along!

Emerson Hancock seemed to have improved stuff and made some pitch mix changes as well. He had a nice ST too. Any chance this could be real?
Brent Hershey
12:23
Really, these are in queue order.... Hancock fits the Schan/Vasquez bill, too. Came up was a command-first guy with pedigree who has now found some velo. Yet another one that I'm on board with b/c of the changes (and in this case, in an org that obviously knows what they are doing with young SP).

Hi Brent - as always - thanks for these - my favorite BQ offering! NL 10 Team 5x5. I grabbed Rumfield in our minor league draft and his salary is $10. To activate him, I have to trade or waive a guy, or I can trade him. I can wait up to weeks to act. Would you keep Rumfield or trade $9 Ozuna?

Or - my plan - do nothing  and wait for an injury on my team and just watch Rumfield in Colorado and see if he's a valuable addition or a trade chip. Thoughts?
Brent Hershey
12:25
Yep, I'd hold for as long as you can in this instance. Flip side is that it's been 3 games for Rumfield; so I think it's too early to choose him over a veteran with some bounceback potential like Ozuna. Might not hurt to put out some trade feelers for either, though.

12:26
Could an Owen Caissie breakout be upon us?
Brent Hershey
12:26
It's possible. Want to see if MIA uses him more than just a platoon guy, though. Huge HR yesterday, tho.
Steve
12:27
Sal Stewart has come out on fire! What's the 2026 celling for this dude?
Brent Hershey
12:27
It's pretty solid. Our projections were surprisingly bullish on him. Best part is that he'll lock down that 1B job if the hits keep coming.

Thanks for taking my question.  12 team 5/5 mixed league (OBP instead of Ave): D Hamilton (MIL) does he have more than a utility role this season ? Is he worth stashing with multi-position availability ? Projected AB and SBs in 2026?   Please rate these SPs in priority order: M Meyer, K Harrison, C Holmes, C Bassset, B Sprout.
Brent Hershey
12:29
MIL has come out and said Hamilton will have more time than what we might have thought. Speed makes this important.

SP rank: Meyer, Bassitt, Harrison, Sproat, Holmes

NL Only 5 by 5.  Rank these starters - Vacquez, Leahy, Houser, Williamson, Junk, Marquez.  Any you like/hate?
Brent Hershey
12:30
Most interested in Vasquez, Leahy and Williamson, in that order. Don't believe in the others except for deep-league filler
michael
12:33
happy Monday- NL only, first pickup, please rank --Bauers, church, Hamilton and for starters- Mlodzinsky, lowder, holmes, littel , buehler and fuentes.  thank you
Brent Hershey
12:33
Bauers / Hamilton / Church
Pitchers ... in that order mostly. Fuentes was sent down this AM, but if this is a keeper league, he's probably between Mlodz and Lowder. I'm confident he'll be up and in the ATL rotation at some point.
David
12:36
What do think happens in Nats bullpen - Beeter, Henry or Perez? What do you think of Perez?
Brent Hershey
12:36
This order is my pref right now. Perez is a bit of a journeyman type with a high walk rate historically, so I'm skeptical. BUT, 7:1 K:BB in spring training, and throws hard from the left side. Keep watching.
Bud

I am in a 10 team AL only 5 x 5 league. Cats-HR, RBI, SB, Avg, Runs, Wins, Ks, ERA, Saves, H/W -my two questions are Masataka yoshida or austin Martin? need avg and sbs? also, have Finnegan, Romano, Martin for Saves- is there a possible down the road closer, who is not closing now, and is not on a radar that you see I could p/u?
Brent Hershey
12:38
A) Martin; fairly easily
B) I'd keep that trio, and read our bullpen column every Sunday for additional shots
