Good day! We start 10 active pitchers in our 16 team mixed with SOLDs. I am starting 6 Sps alongside Cade smith, Devin Williams and Bednar. Last spot for a two start Verlander, a one start Kumar Rockar or Closer Ryan Walker?
Brent Hershey
12:39
Walker would be my choice. I know you mentioned 12 IP requirement; I'd probably not worry about that at this point. Wrack up those saves while you can.

hi Brent, thank you for doing this. How worried are you with David Peterson velocity in his first game? 90,1 mph vs 91,7 mph average last year. Results were still pretty good: 14 ground balls and only 2 linedrives. Would you start him vs SF this week or prefer Marquez vs sf, eflin vs tex, cantillo vs chc or pfaadt twice vs det & atl?
Brent Hershey
12:40
Prefer Eflin v TEX. Not overly worried about David Peterson; he'd proably be by choice 2 out of this group.

Patience or cut bait on Mike Burrows and Shane Smith?  Would you drop either for Abel?
Brent Hershey
12:42
Patience on Burrows for sure. Really like Abel and think there's a possibility that this weekend's relief struggles could keep his price low. He's destined for that rotation as far as I can tell. Obv not the track record of Smith, but better spring #s for sure. Very close; I'd prob lean Abel.

I’m using up a lot of bench spots on stashes like Condon, Beavers, and Vientos. Are they worth it?
Brent Hershey
12:44
This year or keeper is the big issue. I'm off Vientos for both; would probably want Condon in some sort of dynasty/keeper situation, but if it's one year only, Beavers would be my choice. "Stashing" all three seems excessive, yes.

NL-only, 12-team, dynasty. Nabbed Connor Phillips as a supplemental round selection in yesterday's draft. Assuming modest gains in BB%, is he a fair bet to get a shot close in 2027? I realize Santillan and even Maxwell are in the mix...
Brent Hershey
12:45
In a dynasty, this type of play never hurts as long as the rosters are big enough. He struggles or gets hurt again, you move on.

burrows and imai both looked bad. early i know your preference? thanks
Brent Hershey
12:47
Burrows, just on more MLB innings/exposure. But good things about Imai in spring, though. Always a ton of issues to sort through for those coming over for the first time.

Speculating for saves in a 12-team AL-only league.  Please rank Justin Topa, Matt Strahm and Cole Winn.  Are any of them worth adding over Justin Sterner?
Brent Hershey
12:48
Strahm has the best shot of those three ... then probably Winn/Topa? Would rank Sterner between Strahm and Winn right now, but would prefer more MLB info

Will Pomeranz have 15+ saves for LAA this year?
Brent Hershey
12:49
Doubt it pretty strongly. Might get some, but not that many

Hello. Do you know when the site will have the in-season ROS projections available?
Brent Hershey
12:51
They are there currently, and have been since Opening Day. On PlayerLink pages, TeamView pages, csv downloads .... reach out to support@baseballhq.com if you need more help. Thanks

Who do you like in the desert for saves, both short term and long term:  Ginkel, Sewald, or the field?
Brent Hershey
12:52
Sewald right now; the field probably if we're predicting the whole season.

Hi Brent,
Thanks for taking my question. NFBC 5x5. Opening weekend overreaction: Joey Wiemer. All the pre-draft research I did on him came up with a resounding “meh.” Now he’s hitting in the heart of a (bad) WAS lineup. Just an early season fluke, or would he be worth a FAAB to drop any of the following: Triolo, Larnach, Cody Clemens?
Brent Hershey
12:53
My guy says early season fluke. That said, might prefer him over Clemens right now, and maybe Larnach. Type of guy you might just pick up and ride for a bit; ready to drop once things catch up to him.

14-team mixed 9X9. Have Harper as my 1B, grabbed Burger for my bench 1B but realized afterwards I'd overlooked Schanuel. Worth changing course to grab Schanuel or just ride with Burger as a bench bat?
Brent Hershey
12:56
Probably depends on what your "extra" categories are in that 9x9 setup. If they are power based (SLG or OPS, etc), then I'd keep Burger. If they lean OBP or hit-tool based, then  Schanuel is probably the pick. Sounds like a question for our Custom Draft Guide, where subscribers can fill in those cats and compare ROS projections according to your parameters.

Thin at SP in my 12-team 5x5 (OBP/QS) league after losing Pepiot. Who would be your first drop to free up a spot (1C, 2 Util): Herrera (backup C behind Baldwin), C. Walker (have Busch, S. Stewart), M. McLain (behind Keaschall, though maybe I now have that backwards), Sewald, or Sands (also have Palencia and D. Santana)?
Brent Hershey
12:57
Sands or Sewald

12-team NL-only keeper league.  Every season we spend our surplus dollars on superstars:  $45 for $31 Soto, $55 for $41 Skenes, etc.  Those prices are well beyond our inflation rate, typically about 20%.  I have been assuming I will keep one or two slightly overpriced players (e.g. Tucker, $38 but the CDG has him at $24 or $29 inflated), since I have to buy someone, but I've suddenly have the thought that I should ditch all of them.  I will surely end up with overpriced superstars after the auction, but if I don't lock myself into Tucker maybe I will get Soto or Freeman instead.  Is there any reason I should hold a star just in case?
Brent Hershey
12:58
I'd hold Tucker and plan from there.

Looking for an IL spot to fill in a H2H points league.  Thoughts on who has the most value: Bieber, Bryce Miller, Schwellenbach, Grayson Rodriguez
Brent Hershey
12:59
I'll answer this for rest of season: Bieber, I guess. Schwelly #2

Hi Brent--Thanks for your pre-draft keeper tips, they really helped. I'm in a 9X9 that counts holds and saves separately. I usually punt saves or hope to get just enough saves from my holds guys to get me a point or two over anyone else who punts but, in the past we've had NSV, which can make it tough to get anywhere. This year, we're back to straight Saves and I went more aggressive on relievers...but still ended up with 4 primarily HLDS guys. I'm okay with that, as they should all grab some Saves, and I mostly want just the best pitchers out there, especially. with competition with HLDS being pretty fierce. With all that said, would you drop any of these to pick up Erceg?

Hi Brent,  how do feel about Royce Lewis and Hancock in 12-team mixed leagues?  Do you buy the upside?
Brent Hershey
1:00
Sure ... you have to buy some upside in 12-team mixed. Just be ready to move on if it goes south

Oriole fan here, at my AL only draft yesterday I ended up with 4/5 of the O's starting pitcher rotation.  Good gamble or disaster waiting to happen?  Got everyone except Baz.
Brent Hershey
1:02
Eh, think it's OK. Not cardinal rule violated. Enjoy rooting for you home team... just be objective about it if / when you need to cut bait on these guys.

SSS.. but, are velo drops this early in season a real indicator of potential issues (Sheehan-LAD) or normally just noise? In Sheehan’s outing, he still struck out like 5-6 in little over 3 innings. Mixed message? Then there is Estevez who all spring was less than last year. He already is probably sharing 9th inning. So that was a predictable outcome. Sheehan was sort of unanticipated I think.
Brent Hershey
1:03
You give Sheehan more time b/c it was fine in spring training, correct? But Estevez has been a worry all along; I'm moving on there.

Emerson Hancock worth a waiver grab? Was not on my radar but apparently velo was up in ST and that carried over yesterday. Would drop either a spec 4th closer (Sands, Sewald) or my backup C (Herrera, behind Baldwin). (12 team 5x5 w/OBP)
Brent Hershey
1:03
Yep, worth a shot; I'd drop one of the spec closers
