  1. I'd agree with that order. Was hoping Larnach might get more time v LHP; doesn't seem to be happening just yet
  2. Yes, I think so. He's less valuable in a 12 than a 15, but still gives you more overall than Lopez (who I also like some)

Hi Brent, Would you drop Romano for Luke Jackson in a 4x4 mixed league?
Brent Hershey
12:38
Right now, don't think I would ... I'd still give Romano the chance to grab onto that job — and I think if he does, he'll be the man in Philly. BUT ... Jackson seems to already have the role from a loyal manager, as I've mentioned above. You prob have to make this decision today, and right now, it's Romano for me.

Good Afternoon Brent and thank you for your time every week. 5X5 16 team mixed redraft. I am in need of another closer. I can get one via trade by sending CJ Abrams for Devon Williams. I have Carlos Correa to slide over to SS. Your thoughts?
Brent Hershey
12:38
Seems fair, yes, and all the better if it fills a need.
Don Dringus
12:39
Which SS steals more bases this year - Hamilton, Caballero, Dylan Moore, Ha-Seong Kim?
Brent Hershey
12:39
Kim. Think he plays everyday once returns from injury; not sure the others do.

I'm taking too many shots on exciting young position players and need to drop one or two to add pitching. Who would be your first couple drops: Cam Smith, Tork, CES, K. Campbell, V. Robles (5x5 H2H OBP)
Brent Hershey
12:40
  1. Tork, 2. Smith.
Tim
12:40
A question at the buzzer! Think quick ... Max Meyer or Drew Ras' for ROS in a 12-teamer!
Brent Hershey
12:40
Meyer

12:42
Will Tauchman and Josh Rojas play everyday when healthy in Chicago? What happens to Bryan Ramos?
Brent Hershey
12:42
So muddy there. Yes to Tachman/Rojas -- or at least against all RHP. Ramos has to get healthy, he could benefit from either of these sitting (slotting in as short-side DH). But the Ramos situation I feel the least secure about compared to Tauch/Rojas
Dan G
12:42
Yes, it's early.  But any alarm bells going off on any of the slow starts.  Devers, for example.  Any others like that?
Brent Hershey
12:42
No, just notes. As I mentioned, Dylan Crews has looked awful also.
Dan G
12:43
What do you make of the closer situations in Pittsburgh, Miami, Colorado, Cincinnati and Texas?
Brent Hershey
12:43
Staying away from the first three right now; monitoring CIN and as mentioned earlier, I think it's Jackson as a no-doubter for now in TEX
Mark
12:44
Understanding a need for patience, but Austin Wells is available on the waiver wire.  Too early to cut Realmuto for Wells?  I like that Wells leads off in that lineup
Brent Hershey
12:44
I could see this, mainly from the youth v veteran perspective. Not that far off by the end of draft season.

Sorry if you have already addressed this, but any idea of what the odds are of Jose Ramirez playing this week? I have him in my UT slot currently, and am debating starting Joc Pederson over him this week, barring an injury status update beforehand. The day-to-day designation is so hard to play the guessing game on I know.
Brent Hershey
12:48
Yeah, the fact that Joc has 6 RHP lined up, and could well start all 6, makes leaning him a real possibility. Probably won't have CLE lineup by the time TEX starts. I'd hold off on the decision as long as possible, but if J-Ram is out, then I'd prob go Joc for sure. Might just go Joc either way ... the wrist could affect the swing, of course.

Happy Monday, Brent -- is Moniak going to be a starter in CO soon?
Brent Hershey
12:49
It's possible, I guess. Might be worth a flyer in deeper leagues. But that means trusting the Rockies' decisionmaking process.
Can I?
12:50
NL 5x5. Looking at Matchups Tool. Would you do Canning (vs. TOR 0.1) this week or AJ SS (vs MIA -0.7 and @SD -1.8)?  The tool doesn't know that SS has a new pitch, though his first regular season outing wasn't great.
Brent Hershey
12:50
Yeah, new pitch plus the vMIA might sway me in this case -- though Canning looked pretty good the other night against HOU. I'd probably take the two-step.

Drafted value in a 14 team mixed 6x6 rotisserie league and ended up with an outfield/utility with Rodriguez & Arozerena and Wood, Crews, Dominguez, Cowser.  Plus Pitcher Jackson Jobe.  Did I drink too much young guys kool-aid?
Brent Hershey
12:51
Eh, maybe. Just remember that odds are they won't ALL break out. Speaking of out, just saw the Cowser news before this started. Gggh.

We are having our minor league draft tomorrow night. Thanks to a preseason trade I have picks #2 and #6. Many of the best players are unavailable because they were drafted in prior years. My goal is players to help next year, not so much this year. My top six:  Andrew Painter, Bubba Chandler, Travis Bazzana, Coby Mayo, Nick Kurtz, Jordan Lawler. (I moved Kurtz up from most rankings because of his spring and what I see.) Question:  Who would be your top 2 picks? Since I also have #6 a ranking of all six would be helpful. Thanks! Love your chats!
Brent Hershey
12:54
I like Painter over Chandler long term, so I'd look for him at #2. If Painter goes #1 (not to you), then I'd go Chandler. Either way, if I got a pitcher at #2, I'd push for a hitter at #6. Hitter rank for 2026: Lawlar, Mayo, Kurtz, Bazzana.

Hi Brent. Whom do you prefer in a 5X5 OBP league and why: Torkelson and Soderstrom?
Brent Hershey
12:55
Soderstrom. Don't yet believe in Tork; TS has the position to himself for now. Just more barriers for Tork to overcome.
Michael T.
12:56
Can't believe I am writing this, but I am thinking about starting Matt Shaw at 3b and benching Rafael Devers for this week. Am I crazy?
Brent Hershey
12:56
Nope. I think benching Devers, if you have a good option (I consider Shaw that), is viable.
Base
12:57
NL-only $100 FAAB league. How much is too much to spend on a backup closer on uncertain pitching staffs (e.g., CIN or PIT)? Is $5-$8 reasonable to spend on a D. Santana or a Pagan?  I already have two mid-tier closers, but neither is a sure thing.
Brent Hershey
12:57
That seems around the right range, yes -- esp if you're not desperate for saves at the moment.
Dave
12:58
Buehler or Jobe (2 starts) this week?  Rotisserie
Brent Hershey
12:58
Hmmm ... probably Jobe? Nicer matchups.

12:58
Which CHW starters are worth a shot in AL only?
Brent Hershey
12:58
Both Davis and Cannon are worth a look. Burke, too.
Dave
12:59
Do you see any of Bender, Tinoco or Ashcraft as possibility for more than a rare save ros?
