Greetings, Monday chatters! Looks like a lot to get to, so will keep the intro short ... like this!
Bob
12:06
Drop MJ Melendez (catcher eligible) for Langeliers? There is a transaction limit.
Brent Hershey
12:06
Still think both are good bets to rebound; maybe the fact that Shea has shown more HR wise in the past makes this worth it. Really good things under the hood for Langeliers.

Hi! Need help for injury-riddled pitching! Please rank and point to any that you like, as potentially more than just a streamer, among slim pickings on 12-tm, H2H Roto categories WW … Gasser, Parker, Wesneski, Paddack, Lively. Thanks!
Brent Hershey
12:10
In a 12, not sure if any are sure-fire "more than streamers" from this list. My rank with that in mind:

Paddack / Gasser / Parker / Lively / Wesneski. Wesneski, though, could be as high as #3 if I knew he'd get a rotation spot from here. Lotsa others in Chicago for him to climb over right now, though

hi, what do all these established professionals hitters (arozarena garver polanco mullins benintendi olson goldschmidt Springer carroll bregman soler bell bichette lindor Vaughn torres kim castellanos swanson bogaerts : all batying average < ,210) have in common besides having awful hitting season? Thank you for considering my question
Brent Hershey
12:15
Since it's a rhetorical question, my rhetorical answer is "They've all only played six weeks of a 26-week season."
And that's not meant to demean your question or frustration -- I've got many of these guys rostered, too, after feeling like many were 'safe bets,' which ... stinks. But I'll bet at least half of them get back to near their historical levels by the end of the season.
Jose Ramirez’s mother
12:17
hi, what’s happening to Jose Ramirez’s batting average and obp? He struck out twice on Sunday while facing Soroka! Thank you for considering my question
Brent Hershey
12:17
One game; his K% for the season is still superb and in line with his previous years. That .220ish BABIP, far below his established levels, is at least partially at fault. Still time to correct.
Johnny Dickshot
12:19
Best catcher short and long term - I Herrera, Moreno, Stephenson, Ruiz, K Lee
Brent Hershey
12:19
Short-term: Herrera
Long-term: Moreno (think he'll add power)

Good Morning Brent, 5X5 redraft, 16 team league. Is this the beginning of a Goldschmidt rebound or is just smoke/mirrors
Brent Hershey
12:20
Not enough info. Want to see it over a whole week at least.

Remember ... he went to Driveline (ducks)

Hi Brent, NL only 5x5, replacement moves- any thoughts on Brujan,Sosa, fitzgerald anmd solano on hitting side and vazquez, black or gasser on pitching side?  thanks as always
Brent Hershey
12:23
Most interested in Brujan and Fitzgerald of the hitters; feel the others are just short-term MLB replacements

Pitchers: Like all three to some extent; would prioritize Gasser / Black / Vasquez in that order. All have very good matchups this week

How sustainable is the production we’re getting from Bryce Miller? Stuff is obviously good, but cant help but feel like his true level is closer to a high 3s/low 4s era. He a sell
Brent Hershey
12:27
Skills say this is a step up, but not this far. Like the fact that he's widened his arsenal. That said, our BHQ xERA is 3.64 for him, which tracks with your "feel". I wouldn't no-doubt sell (doesn't look like there's a disaster about to happen, for instance), but never hurts to ask around in case someone believes more in the start than you.

Feels like Jazz Chilsom is taking this leadoff spot role and is about to start filling the stat sheets like we’ve all been waiting for. Do you concur?
Brent Hershey
12:30
Think it's possible. Nice step up in plate skills (more walks, less Ks), but still going to be about the health. Monster producer if he gets to 525+ AB.

Cristopher Sanchez and Reese Olson both have nice streaming matchups this week. Given depleted pitching (and anxiety over Woo's return), I might look to hold one or both. Which is the better bet for the rest of the season? (12-team QS)
Brent Hershey
12:34
Our projections favor Sánchez slightly; might be able to make a case for keeping both in a QS league
Dan
12:35
Thoughts on Robert Gassler?
Brent Hershey
12:35
I'll give you three:
  • Long-term, more a mid-rotation rather than #1/2 starter.
  • This week, though, our Matchups tool love him vs. PIT.
  • Rookie pitchers also break your heart.

12 team H2H redraft points league. Time to bail on Ian Happ? Feels like a hidden injury
Brent Hershey
12:37
Always depends on the alternatives, but Happ striking out more is a thing. Prob can find something more reliable in a 12 on the wire
Leone
12:38
NL 5x5 Wesneski, Cecconi or Elder ROS?
Brent Hershey
12:38
Cecconi has impressed so far
Herb Scoresheet
12:39
NL-only, 5x5, Keeper.  Which Giant's outfielder has the best chance for long-term success, Heliot Ramos or Luis Matos?
Brent Hershey
12:39
Probably Matos ... but there's also a post-post-post hype case for Ramos also. But picking today, I'd go the younger guy
Katman
12:42
I’ve owned Luis Matos his entire career until this year in my deep NL 5x5. His history is weird — periods of rapid growth and great results followed by apparent regression. Last year he destroyed the PCL, but everyone seems to have forgotten because he’s been so awful at the same level in 2024. Now injuries have given him at least a brief chance to get ABs. Any reason for optimism?
Brent Hershey
12:42
Back-to-back! Yes, I think the fact that he can play CF will give him some rope while Lee is out. Likely won't cost you much at this point to pick him up; given his AAA struggles this season. I'm cautiously optimistic; it's not like this career path has never been taken before.
Porcho Villa
12:44
Is Jacob Young a possible longer-term SB weapon, or more of a short-term play? Ideal context (currently leading off for run-happy WAS), but lineup spot and even playing time might not last given mediocre plate skills, lack of power, and Wood waiting in the wings.
Brent Hershey
12:44
Likely short-term, especially with Wood and then Crews in the wings, but you never know. I'd live in the now with Young (what you mention in parens) and just know you'll have to re-evaluate along the way. The now (opportunity, running) is good.
Lane Thomas
12:46
Thanks so much for your time and advice, Brent! What are your projections on Lane Thomas when he returns from IL? Can we expect similar production to last year?
Brent Hershey
12:46
.250ish; double-digit HR and SB. Think it's possible last year was his career yr; everything went right. Do worry a bit about the speed being there upon his return, given it's a knee injury. So yes, I think he can produce some when he gets back -- but no, I'd be surprised if it was at last year's levels.
Porcho Villa
12:47
Choose one 1B for this week only: Tork, Santana, Singleton, O'Hearn, Wade Jr. (5x5 OBP)
Brent Hershey
12:47
Sched and opportunity says Singleton, though Tork is 2nd

12:49
Flipping a coin here...15-team mixed, standard 5x5.  Luis Garcia or Nico Hoerner?  Using Nat Lowe as my UT.
Brent Hershey
12:49
Assuming ROS, I think Garcia will give you more well-rounded production, even if continues to be platooned. Close, though, since Nico is out there every day.
Keaton Winn
12:51
NL-only 5x5 league.  Worth hanging onto Keaton Winn and Mitchell Parker or drop one/both for reliever such as Romero, Ottavino, Ty. Rogers, Nardi
