Welcome back, chatters! Let's see if I can keep ahead of all the questions this week!

16 team H2H points league. I own Carter, Mayo and Black and can activate each with a 4 year contract of ~$5 at any time/year of my choosing

I've been offered Pasquantino (who will shore up my 1B position - Hoskins on IL) and Bibee who strengthen my pitching. Both players are relatively cheap at ~$4 each for 2024 and 2025. I can re-sign them to 5 year contracts @$14/year.
When Hoskins returns Santana will be bumped to the bench. I should not that Riley is on the bench though not the IL and will return by the 27th I hope. I also have Bobby Miller and Gavin Williams on the IL which, in a few weeks (?) will render Bibee less important.
Really hesitant on this but it will strengthen my current roster but is it necessary and is the future cost too high. I'm not altogether satisfied with the current performance of Vinnie or Bibee. Your opinions?
Brent Hershey
12:05
You don't say it specifically, but context infers that the trio is who you're giving up. In this case, I think I'd hold. Vinne/Bibee are nice complementary pieces for now, but Carter and Mayo especially I think have higher long-term ceilings. Quick assessment says you've been bitten pretty hard by the injury bug, but some of those are due back very soon. Not a horrible trade to make if you choose to ... just feel that at this point in the season, you can afford to wait.

Hi Brent- pick 1 in H2H points for ROS: Pages, Nootbar, Adell, B. De La Cruz.  Thanks!
Brent Hershey
12:07
Think it's Pages; via combination of skill, how the team has handled him so far, and surrounding lineup. Probably BDLC next for me (and quite honestly, a bit safer given track record).

Time to cut bait on Civale? In 10 tm H2H, can pick up H. Greene, Pfaadt, M. King, or a returning Urquidy.  Thanks!
Brent Hershey
12:08
Would prefer any of the first three to Civale right now in a 10-teamer; and in the order you have them. Not interested in Urquidy in your format.

12-tm, H2H, H+S, categories … w  SPs so volatile, carrying only four, instead multiple middle relievers — punting Ks! Focusing on ratios, please rank Quantrill, Sandoval, Arrighetti, Lively as streamers or more! Thanks!

Sandoval, Lively. <gap> Arrighetti, Quantrill

Morning do you think P.Leon of Houston is up soon?
Brent Hershey
12:10
Tough to say, as Meyers' recent run has complicated things, and now McCormick, who can also play CF, is coming back. That makes me think that it's later, rather than sooner, for Leon.
Gary
12:15
Which if these sluggers would you rather roster in a H2H 12 team categories league ROS - Yordan, Olson, Alsonso?
Brent Hershey
12:15
Yordan; easily. Best pure hitter of the trio.

Good morning Brent-Happy Monday-I have a few general player questions. AL 1) Do you see Chas McCormick turing his season around when he gets activated this week? -it's been brutal so far! 2) What's wrong with Jordan Romano? Seems hurt-will the Blue Jays turn to Yimi Garcia and get Romano's confidence back? His strikeouts are lacking.  NL for last question NL 5 x 5 dynasty questions-long term best option for shortstop- I currently have Bobby Witt $5 in his second year (can long term for 2 more years) Anthony Volpe  also $5 in his second year and Jackson Holliday, Cole Young and Sebastian Walcott in my minors. I see Witt, Volpe and Holliday as my MI for next 3-5 years-do you agree? Much Appreciated as I mold my roster for the future!

1) The thing to watch that I alluded to above is how HOU employs McCormick upon his return. Liked (and drafted) him enough in the offseason that I'm still sticking to my guns in believing he can take another step. But will need the opportunity.
2) The possibility of that back issue lingering is real. Feel like the Jays will continue to turn to him in the short-term ... but a Yimi backup or stash at this point would make sense if you have roster room.
3) Would most def agree ... there's no rush, but I'd be willing to move Young and/or Walcott if I got the right offer. Though "right offer" is important — given what can happen (injuries, below-par performance) that can change situations quickly, I wouldn't 'empty the bank' right now. Great situation with that current trio, though.

Tough start for my staff this season. Sit Heaney (@Philly), Detmers (two starts @HOU and home CLE) and / or Greene (rematch at home vs Dodgers) this week in favor of relievers (we use saves plus holds)??
Brent Hershey
12:22
Yes to those first two for sure. For me, Greene has the best chance of giving you something decent -- though yes, a rematch in CINCY in scary. Could see sitting all three.

NL-only 5x5 league.  Team WHIP & ERA are dreadful YTD due largely to Musgrove, Bednar, Alzolay.  Injuries have taken a toll as well. Do you recommend I dump Keaton Winn for a reliever such as Romero, Nardi or Ryan Yarbrough.  Try to fill with a starter such as Tylor Megill, Kyle Gibson or hang onto Winn? Chasing wins is not advisable but I could use help there as well.
Brent Hershey
12:24
I'm wary of Winn and would be likely to cut even in an NL-only (assuming you don't have IL spots). Megill would be priority #1, then one of those relievers, then Gibson. It has been rough out there for sure.

Some weekend chatter about the Braves looking at Eflin as a possible trade target. How you currently viewing him and can he go on a run similar to last year?
Brent Hershey
12:26
Have no problems with Eflin. Sure, he's down a bit off last year; but that had the makings of a career year anyway. Is still not walking guys; he'll be fine. Can get on a hot streak like anyone else; skills give him a nice floor.

Hi Brent,…thanks for your insights they have been very helpful. My question is simple enough,is CJ ABRAMS going to step up his stolen base numbers or have we been deceived into thinking he would be on the way to a stolen base title????
Brent Hershey
12:29
I would still roster CJ for stolen bases, yes. Not like that skill has aged or gone away. He's just hitting for such surprising power that my take is he hasn't had the same opportunities as last year to run. The fact that WAS is among the league leaders in SB only reinforces the view that his lack of SB so far is just circumstantial. Think they could mushroom at anytime.

How good can Joey Oritz be this season? His skills look awesome.
Brent Hershey
12:30
I believe in the skills; back to several years ago had minor league scouts tell me how impressed they were with the improvement he made with the bat. Can play all over the infield, too ... hopefully MIL is finally realizing what they have there and will get him everyday AB going forward. Not going tho be THIS amazing, but skills are there for a very solid player.

12:33
Are you a Davis Scheider believer? I love his batted ball profile.
Brent Hershey
12:33
I'm coming around a bit; definitely has taken me a bit longer than some. The Statcast data does look strong, as you say — and as weird as it sounds, the Jays are looking for offense. Makes sense that he is finding everyday AB between 2B and OF.

Hi Brent , traditional 5x5 NL.  Who do you like better turnbull or leiter?  Thanks
Brent Hershey
12:34
Turnbull; he has a better chance of finding himself in a fantasy-relevant opportunity in my eyes.
Rick
12:37
Good Morning Brent. Looks like Luis Matos has a starting job for the season. What are your  thoughts on him long-term? Potentially an above average hitting outfielder?
Brent Hershey
12:37
Too early to say, but I commend your realism given the "holy smokes" weekend Matos just recorded. It's so important that he's SF's best option for CF in the short term; whether he can grasp that opportunity (IE, hit enough) will be the question. Some nice fantasy-relevant skills throughout the minors, even though results in AAA this year were underwhelming. Let's see what he's got.

12:38
Start Gilbert against the Yankees?
Brent Hershey
12:38
Yep, unless you are in some crazy-shallow league with better alternatives. Start your studs -- and if he's on your roster, he's likely one of em.

In a QS H2H league where I need to give up two of Steele, B. Garrett, C. Sanchez, R, Olson, Mize, Means, or Fedde, is there a combo that you would do?
Brent Hershey
12:39
I think Garrett and Means are the least likely of that list to accumulate QS over the balance of the season.

12:41
In a QS H2H league would you trade any of these pitchers for K. Gausman...Sale, Ragans, S.Gray, or Nola?
Brent Hershey
12:41
Probably not. Gray would be the closest for me, but not right now given the run that he's on.

Is Goldy toast? Should I drop him for Wade Jr.?
Brent Hershey
12:42
A) Likely no, but it is concerning. Will be watching closely this week after a bit of weekend success
B) For sure, no; not that this point.

How do I find YTD stats with all the great BBHQ metrics besides looking on each individual players page?
