I'm not, really ... that .385 BABIP and pretty lousy Statcast quality of contact metrics still pull me back to reality. I'd say the speed intrigues me more than anything ... but not sure that alone finds him the role he needs to be fantasy relevant. I mean it's worth watching, though ... I'm just not on board yet.

Teoscar looks very replaceable so far this year. Are you taking .80 cents on the dollar for him in redraft 5 OF H2H leagues? Maybe just to acquire a more unique skill set?
Brent Hershey

Strikeouts are cratering his line, which was a concern when he first arrived .. but he addressed those in multiple years and we all (well, me) figured he was past that. Other metrics look good -- but ya gotta make contact. Might not be the worst thing to shop around for an upgrade in your case -- but also could see hanging on and hoping that 2021-22 Teoscar returns.

Alright, still a pile of questions here ... will try to whip through a bunch in final 10 mins or so..

Thanks for these chats! NL 10 team 5x5: Will Myers and Jesse Winker are terrible.
Will they start heating up with the weather? Do I keep them?
Should I waive them and attempt to FAAB any of these:
PHAM, MERCADO, G HAMPSON, X EDWARDS...? (slim pickins!)
Brent Hershey
1:01
Would hold, as yes, this be slim!

also, is taylor trammell Seattle’s primary left fielder the rest of this season?
Brent Hershey
1:01
No, think he gets more AB in DH role

Hi Brent- can you rank Shuster, Houser, Lively, Weathers, Williamson, Covey and also indicate at which guy you would prefer a decent reliever than picking the pitcher up?
Brent Hershey
1:02
The order you have em .. I'd probably pivot to RP after Houser

Are you concerned with the recent slump from Wander? Seems to be directly after his next injury.
Brent Hershey
1:03
A bit, yes, for the exact reason you state.

Joe Musgrove - i think better days are coming but skeptical on if he will ever even be a legit SP 2 again. Is he a hold in redrafts or would you be shopping after his next decent start?
Brent Hershey
1:03
Valid concerns. Does not hurt to shop and see if someone likes him more than you.

Bryce Miller impressed at ATL last week but still looks like a sell high in redraft. Do you see him being a mid rotation arm ROS?
Brent Hershey
1:04
Yes, I do. ATL is tough opponent; take solace he didn't get blown up. Testament to his stuff. I'd hold.

Is this just a hot start from Kiriloff or do you expect him to continue slugging?
Brent Hershey
1:05
Given recent injury, surprised at his start. If I take that out, this was about what I expected when he first debuted.

15-team NL-AL league. Would you drop Canning for Wacha, Lorenzen or Oviedo? Thanks.
Brent Hershey
1:06
Would probably only consider for Wacha; the other two too volatile.

For what purpose is Atlanta fast-tracking Smith-Shawver -- age 20 and at AAA already with not a lot of innings under his belt? Could he be a late-season arm that gets high-leverage innings down the stretch?
Brent Hershey
1:07
They have very little MLB-calibler pitching depth that is ready in the minors. Trying to see what Shawver has against better competition. Could be a sign they think Fried / Wright will be out a while.

Which happens first: Wil Myers gets DFAd, Jake McCarthy gets reinstated, or Elly De La Cruz gets called up?
Brent Hershey

Cruz called up

Thank you for answering these questions Brent!  I'm in a 10 team, NL-only league, trying to pick up ground in ERA and WHIP.  Is it way too risky to start Gavin Stone for his 2 start week?
Brent Hershey
1:08
Decent shot to take in NL only

Best dynasty bench stash: JJ Bleday or Pavin Smith? Both are former 1st round draft picks who have shown a spark this season.
Brent Hershey
1:08
Bleday, slightly

In 12tm h2h pts league for last RP slot...should I roll with Whitlock against AZ or Evan Phillips or Peter Fairbanks? Are you confident Whitlock makes his start this upcoming weekend?
Brent Hershey
1:09
I'd go Phillips. Many days between now and Sat

Hi Brent. BHQ projects Joe Ryan for a 3.60 ERA ROS, but his BHQ xERA is 3.18, and his Statcast xERA is an elite 2.30, second among starters after Jacob deGrom. Is it realistic to expect an ERA around 3.00 going forward, or is a mid-3’s ERA a more likely outcome? I recently traded Altuve and Matt McLain for Ryan, so I’m hoping it’s the former!
Brent Hershey

Think we've seen enough to expect ~3.

good afternoon...as always, thanks for the chat.  Can someone please explain to me what is going on with Emmanuel Clase?  Is it really, really, bad luck...or has he changed something?  those K numbers are abysmal.
Brent Hershey

Sorry, I can't. But agree with you that it's frustrating and (frankly) a bit foreboding.

After a terrible start to the season, Lance Lynn’s last two starts have been really good. Is there anything going on under the hood to suggest his turnaround is sustainable? His seems to have cut his walk rate significantly in those two starts, to 4%, and although his career walk rate is 8%, he did have a 4% walk rate in 2022. . . .
Brent Hershey
1:11
Yep, think a rebound (within limits) is coming.

Pick 1 for this week: Musgrove @ NYY or Bibee vs STL?
Brent Hershey

Musgrove, but razor thin

Hi Brent, thanks, as always for your time. I'm a little saves starved at the moment -- have Jansen and Jason Adam active with Munoz and Alvarado on IL. How would you rank them for ROS?
Brent Hershey
1:12
Saves only: Jansen / Alvarado / Adam / Muñoz
