Hello, chatters ... back at it on Friday, filling in for Ray. Queue is full, but continue to add questions! Will do my best to keep answers succinct and try to get to as many as I can. Let's go...

H2H 12 team mixed points league 31 man roster play 12 hitters and 9 pitchers.  Need to create cap room to acquire replacement for Teoscar who I can hold while on IL. Have Goodman ($6) and can pick up Quero ($4). The $2 lift in cap space will allow me to pick up suitable replacement (likely Dylan Moore) for Teoscar. Outlook on Goodman v Quero rest of season?
Brent Hershey
12:03
I would think especially in a points league, that Quero > Goodman is the right call. Impressed with what I've seen with Quero, and the fact that he's seeing DH time, too, tells me that the Sox want his bat in the lineup going forward.

Curious where you would slot Zabby Matthews of Twins vs. Jobe, Horton, Smith -Shawer, and Loupp? Matthews still in MILB this year for now, and the others all up already for say next 2-3 years. Looks to me with Twins limiting Zabby to a max of 20 hitters per game, they are keeping pitch counts down to save him for 2nd half?
Brent Hershey
12:05
Will answer for this year ... probably would rank Smith-Shawver, Jobe, Zebby, Horton, Loupp, though I think those first three are very close. I like Horton, but no MLB track record at all yet.

In a 10-team NL-only league with 5 OF, and one of my OFs is Conforto.  Do I stick it out with Conforto, or replace him with one of the top waiver OFs (Moniak, Rosario, or McCutchen)?
Brent Hershey
12:08
In your context, I think I'd stick it out for a bit yet given the surrounding team. McCutchen, though, a sneaky play in deep leagues like this one.

4x4 al only keeper league. 1.hogland or mcullers  2 barger or dezenzo 3 vargas or williamson 4. montgomery or varland. ROS Thank you  Brent!
Brent Hershey
12:09
  1. Hoglund
  2. Barger slightly -- think he finds 3B time v RHP
  3. Vargas
  4. Montgomery (closer to saves IMO)

Little Abner of Brewers or Liam Of Red Sox ROS for saves?

Mornin' Brent...Pls give me your thoughts on Kerry Carpenter.  Will he get the opportunity to conquer LHP & what level of confidence do U have that he will? A keeper in 12 team mixed @ $6?
Brent Hershey
12:11
Yes, I think they will give him that chance, and have started to already, and I think he can become a no-doubt full-timer. So much for him hinges on health. As for keeper in a 12... probably in that conversation, but tough to make a call right now on it.

Hi Brent. What do you make of Daulton Varsho's hot start? His CT% is terrible (50%), but he's crushing the ball (315 xPX), so his xBA is .294, and he's walking a lot (15%), so his OBP is a very palatable .346. But his track record suggests his OBP will settle around .300 (.297 career OBP). Any reason to expect Varsho's higher OBP to stick, or should we expect him to settle in around a .300 OBP as in most of his previous seasons? Relatedly, in a 5X5 OBP league, would you prefer Varsho or JJ Bleday?
Brent Hershey
12:13
Varsho: should settle; really really early for him to take much stock in those numbers. I'd probably lean Bleday slightly over him right now.

Is Brandon Lowe's year long slump a foreshadow of things to come or just a rather loud burp? I am not sure if he has even been in earshot of his pre-season projections. He seems like a strong cut candidate, especially if there are no bench slots.
Brent Hershey
12:15
History of inconsistency, so this could just be one of his downturns. Cut question all depends on depth of league, other options, etc., but yeah, no bench spots def hurts.

NL only 5 x 5 Roto keeper, 5 man reserve. With Cronenworth coming back, will need to waive at least one of the following: Baty, J Iglesias, Sanoja, Ryne Nelson. Sanoja and Iglesias are currently active, solid in all categories except steals. Which one or two do I waive?
Brent Hershey
12:16
I've never really seen the appeal of Nelson, so him for sure. Would trim J Iglesias if you needed a second.

Thanks for a second chat, Brent.  Rasmussen being dropped in shallow leagues, do you see a turnaround?  And are you a believer in what Makiel Garcia is doing? Is he a legitimate second baseman in a 12 teamer?
Brent Hershey
12:18
Rasmussen turnaround -- meaning your expected MORE than 3.09/1.06? I'd be inclined to scoop that up in shallow leagues, yes. And I'd ride M Garcia for now; stay on top of it of course be he's young enough that this might be stepforward.

Good morning Brent.  Thanks as always.  What's your outlook on Endy Rodriguez and Henry Davis ROS and over next 2-3 years.   Either a future top 10 catcher?  Also, would you rather have Bo Naylor or Danny Jansen ROS in an OBP league?
Brent Hershey
12:20
Endy v Davis question could hinge on new skipper. Currently, seems like Davis getting the first shot behind the plate, but Endy can hit and flexibility helps. Not sure either becomes a top-10 at that position. Naylor > Jansen for me.

12:21
Hi Brent!  Who do you think will get more saves and holds ROS in a league where saves count twice as much as holds:  Luke Weaver or Kevin Ginkel?  I'm leaning Weaver, because he has the job now even though they're paying Williams a lot of money.  But since no one in ARI can stay both healthy and good, Ginkel has a chance to take and hold the job.  Your thoughts?
Brent Hershey
12:21
Yeah, I'd go Weaver, too. Slightly better team, history in both setup and closer roles.

12:23
Do you think Adley Rutschman will turn it around?
Brent Hershey
12:23
Yes, but will it be this year is the question I ask myself. The vibes ain't good right now.

In a 15-team 5x5 mixed, should I be keeping Jake McCarthy in one of my precious bench slots?  He's raking at Reno, which makes me think he'll be back to his old self ($10-13 earner) soon.  But am I wishcasting?  CDG says yes I am, what do you think?  Thanks Brent!
Brent Hershey
12:24
I'd keep an eye on him, but no, I wouldn't have him on my bench in a 15. Lotsa competition right now in that ARI OF.

Is corbin carroll going 40/30 this year?
Brent Hershey
12:24
Crazy to think, but possible.

Does Luzardo have what it takes (health permitting) to continue this level of production?
Brent Hershey
12:26
I think so. Always had the talent; in an org w/ a good track record. Think it's likely he gets a bit of a break at some point (around ASB, maybe) midseason in hopes of keeping him fresh for stretch run/playoffs.

I'm looking at the 9D-rated Colorado pitcher Chase Dollander.  In a NL-only, 5x5 roto league where I can sit him when he pitches at home (or against a really good team) is he worth the risk?  The other issue is that I'd have to drop a (potentially) decent pitcher, probably Sean Manaea.  Thanks.
Brent Hershey
12:30
This would be how I would handle Dollander if I had him. But even that's a pretty big unknown — just in general, how he'll fare as rookie, with a questionable defensive unit behind him, not much run support, etc. Those things all have nothing to do with Coors. Even with a guy like Manaea on your IL and still a month away or whatever, I'd prefer him if is he or Dollander.

Is Mike Soroka interesting in an 11 team NL only 5x5?    he seems kind of Mike Soroka and not on a good team.
Brent Hershey
12:32
NL only? Yes. Was cruising through 4 IP until it caught up with him earlier this week. Not saying he's a world-beater, but there have been some changes and (health permitting—that's the rub) he coud have some value for you.

Hi Brent - Nickrand and others promoted Ben Brown.  Have heard elsewhere he suffers from only two usable pictches. Got him and thought he was so-so vs SFG. Good two step next week.  What do you see from him ROS?
Brent Hershey
12:34
With the Cubs SP injury list only lengthening, we're about to find out. ROS I see ups and downs, and you hope he improves w/ experience. The two pitches are good ones. Matchups play right now.

What do you expect from Max Muncy (Dodgers) rest of season? He has been on my bench in a 12 team mixed 5x5 with OPS instead of BA and I'm considering a change. Guys like Manzardo, Toglia, Roupp, Gavin Williams, & Sandy Alcantara are available in FA pool.
