But if I were to name things that I would think other editors have to fix often, I might note that a lot of folks are bad at properly using that vs. which, and don't know when to capitalize Major League Baseball (hint: not that often!), and make centerfielder one words when it isn't.

Is there a way to say you're impressed that a woman knows a lot about baseball without sounding sexist or patronizing?
Meg Rowley
2:42
absent the context of our entire lives, maybe, but uhhh I'd maybe stay away from that
David
2:42
Is there still hope that the Paxton trade could be not terrible for the Mariners?
Meg Rowley
2:42
lol of course
Mayra
2:43
Speaking of going to games alone, do you like to keep score?
Meg Rowley
2:43
I don't keep score when I go, though I admire the attention spans of those who do.
SomeGuy
2:43
I'm impressed when anyone knows a lot about baseball; there's a lot of baseball to know.
Meg Rowley
2:44
Sure, but that often isn't the spirit with which it is delivered and why risk being misunderstood.

How should fans manage their fanhood of a team with a moral contempt for its players?
Meg Rowley
2:45
We are allowed to switch up our fandom. It is allowed.

The jays pinch run for Vlad twice already, and I'm no doctor, but that "kid" is not in good physical condition. I think the bat and the name made a few quite blind of some glaring weaknesses and risk.
Meg Rowley
2:46
Every prospect evaluator loves Vlad, and every one of them noted those risks. The thing is, the bat is that good.

Good afternoon, m'lady.
Meg Rowley
2:46
Really, everyone can just use each other's names.
SomeGuy

I agree, and apologize for phrasing otherwise.
Meg Rowley
2:47
Didn't read it in a negative light, and there is a neutral version of that observation -- we just so rarely get it.
2:48
I have told people what I do, and gotten weird responses, that imply I don't know baseball. It's just a tricky, yucky thing best avoided.

Re Vlad: That was the consensus for Jesus Montero too, let's not forget the ranking of "Bryce Harper, Mike Trout, Jesus Montero"
Meg Rowley
2:49
lol ok
This impulse is such a strange one.

Are dynasty's good for any sport? I keep looking at Golden State and thinking how that can't be fun for anyone knowing that the season is basically over before it starts. I know the Yankees did it fairly recently but did it make baseball less fun?
Meg Rowley
2:51
I think dynasties get read as villains a lot of the time, and I think villains are very good for sports, so yes.

Who besides the Mariners are your favorite team to watch this season?
Meg Rowley
2:51
(*whispers* I haven't watched the Mariners much)
2:52
Love that Padres team. Love that Phillies team. Enjoy that Brewers team. Like the Rays.

I hate (but understand) the idea of changing fandom based on who owns the team. I was called out by a friend recently for still being a Cubs fan. I mean, most Cubs fans were around before the Ricketts. It seems crazy that we should feel inclined to change our allegiances because a different 1%er  is in charge of the team.
Meg Rowley
2:53
I mean, despite what I said, there are differences between some of these folks.

Vaguely remember you not liking Ben Gamel (apologies if it was someone else), but he seems to be a perfectly cromulent fourth outfielder for Milwaukee. Any early thoughts on the Santana-Gamel trade?
Meg Rowley
2:54
It's not that I dislike him, I just don't get very exercised about him. I think it was fine, and ultimately isn't something I'll spend much time thinking about.

If you had the opportunity to go back and enjoy baseball strictly as a fan, would you? Or do you enjoy your editing and journalistic responsibilities too much?
Meg Rowley
2:55
My job is just insanely the best, and still allows me to enjoy the game very much, just in a different way. I am incredibly grateful for my situation.
2:56
Baseball fascinates me, and has brought some people into my life whom I genuinely love, and I get to do this job. I will never, ever be able to pay baseball back. Not ever.

Does the fact that the Jays pinch ran for Vlad necessarily mean that he's out of shape, as opposed to just slow (like, say, Wilmer Flores, who has always looked to be in good shape)? I wouldn't presume to assume to know what kind of shape he's in just from looking at his body type.
Meg Rowley
2:57
I think you can have concerns about the body long term and also, think the bat is so good it won't seriously matter. But yes, I suspect it was more about speed, which, yup, fair.

When you don't have a local team, what's the furthest you can defend driving to attend a regular season weekend game?
Meg Rowley
2:58
I think it is fine to go on vacation.
Black Widow

Favorite players to watch besides Mike Trout?
Meg Rowley
2:59
There have been few things I've enjoyed as much this season as watching Manny Machado back at third base.
Mayra
2:59
Wait, Domingo Santana has been HOW bad on defense?
