A suspension seems appropriate, though MLB might take care of that for them.
2:40
He's not all that good, so they might just cut their losses.
I would like it if they would have a DV expert come in and talk to that clubhouse about how to talk about this stuff.
2:41
Rizzo kind of botched it, though I think the impulse to say "I don't know what happened" is better than when dudes say things like "Oh he's a great guy in the clubhouse."
Lazzaro Da Fietta
2:41
Odd man out: Dodgers, Rockies or Cards?
Meg Rowley
2:41
Rockies, I expect.

Is there any chance Harrison Bader wins the ROY? He's right up there in WAR. I know he doesn't have the future that Acuna or Soto are likely to have, but the award is supposed to be for what you've done, not what you might do in the future, right?
Meg Rowley
2:43
I would be surprised. He's been great, but Acuña has been better and in less time. I don't think him winning is an injustice.

You think the Giants will try to build an more analytical FO with Evans being removed from the GM position or will they not change course from their current philosophy?
Meg Rowley
2:45
The spread on how analytical orgs are has really compressed but still, hopefully, they use it as a chance for a reset. Easier to hire an analytically inclined guy or gal, than change course mid stream.

2:45
Do you see the A's using a Bullpen Day (or, *clutches pearls* an OPENER?) in the Wild Card?
Meg Rowley
2:45
I wouldn't be surprised if they start with a starter, and similarly unsurprised to see that starter go two to three innings.
I Have To Go To Work Tomorrow
2:46
Please spare a thought for us baseball fans here in England. The most exciting month of the season is upon us, but so many of the games will start at between midnight and 3am local time.
Meg Rowley
2:46
Can you secure a temporary assignment stateside?
Moltar
2:46
Are weekday daytime playoff games still a thing? I've always been so baffled by the reasoning behind putting your best, most exciting games on TV at a time when the vast majority of potential viewers are at work or school. Air all the games overlapping in prime time instead.
Meg Rowley
2:47
I believe they are and I also found them very irritating when I was not doing this job.
About to Graduate
2:47
Say you're getting a graduate degree in Statistics and love baseball.  Best interest to pursue?  A blog, or something else?
Meg Rowley
2:48
Depends on what you want to do. If you have the credentials and want to work in a front office, I'd do a little public facing work so you have something to show when you're interviewing for internships.

2:49
How much longer do you think it is until we see actual consideration from the Angels on trading Mike Trout?
Meg Rowley
2:49
I'm sure they will talk about it this offseason just as they'll talk about a very, very long extension.
Bork
2:49
I believe 10/5 rights is exact to the day, including mid season. Players can be traded the day before they would hit it.
Meg Rowley
2:49
I believe this is correct

https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/the-10-and-5-rights/ from 2011 but they haven't changed since then

2:49
Oh hey there you go.

Kim Ng reportedly on Giants short list. Great hire?
Meg Rowley
2:50
I am sure she would be! I look forward to the day when we have more names on this list. A lot more names. I don't know that Kim Ng wants to be a GM. She has a pretty rad job now.

As an Astros fan, I'm more scared of the Indians than the Red Sox. Short series, great rotation, this one has a classic Houston sports let down written all over it.
Meg Rowley
2:50
Your favorite team won the World Series literally last year.
You are the reigning World Series Champions.
2:51
I get being afraid of that Cleveland rotation.
Woad Raider
2:51
Would a Rockies - A's World Series be a great thing for baseball?
Meg Rowley
2:52
I think expanding the circle of teams that contend is always good. Something fresh is always good.
Though we'd have to watch that Rockies team hit, which feels... less good.

2:52
I get why Ohtani is the frontrunner, but why do people seem to think that Andujar and Torres have better Rookie of the Year cases than Joey Wendle? Is it Yankees over Rays bias, prioritizing offense way over defense, prioritizing top prospects over surprise rookies, or a combination?
Meg Rowley
2:52
I think it is all of those things.

I'm considering how much I will pay for a seat at the division series and (GOD PLEASE) the world series. I'd pay $1200 for a seat. I am not wealthy, but I'm not poor. I have have to attend alone, and damn I'll attend alone. Would you attend the WS alone?
Meg Rowley
2:53
I love going to baseball games alone, so yes. I like going to games with friends, too. Don't get me wrong. But there is something very different about attending solo.

Trout's only flaw....mediocre at best defense. And it is something nobody wants to be caught dead talking about.
Meg Rowley
2:54
People do talk about that. If for no other reason than it is has rebounded from last year.

Can you quantify how much of an advantage big market teams have over small market teams in terms of WAR or Wins Above Average? Seems tricky to pin down, but it'd be nice to estimate how many more expected wins the Cubs/Dodgers would have over the Brewers/Rockies over a certain time period based only on market size or payroll.
