I think they can. I have a lot of faith in coach Mike Sullivan. I've been impressed with his ability to identify an issue -- and then correct it. During the 2018-19 season, they were the NHL's worst team at giving up odd-man rushes. That issue has been significantly corrected recently. Then last year, they were one of the NHL's worst teams in front of their own net... then almost overnight transformed into one of the best. (This is more than an observation. The stats on chances from the slot were noticeably improved). So I do think they can get back to what made them successful

not a question— no need to respond— but I haven’t thought about JJ at all until I saw him in last night’s TB v. Colorado game… was surprised to see he found a home on the best team in the league (arguably)

I hear you my man. I was just kidding (and trying to deflect a bit). Truthfully, Jack Johnson on the Penguins was one of the worst things about covering the team because it was impossible to have a nuanced conversation. He was bad. Very very bad at times. But, obviously, he can also be okay-ish enough to play regular minutes in the NHL. I think he was slightly better than public perception

after falling short a few seasons— and flaming out against CBJ— Tampa diversified their roster a bit and has used players like Maroon, Killorn and now Cory Perry. seems like the Pens could learn a lesson from them, no? I know they have won with Sully’s system but that was 5 years ago and they have been getting crushed in the 1st round

Tampa is the model, I think. They have it all. Elite goaltending. Size. Speed. Role-players. I love that team and think they could have a shot at a three-peat

Alright everyone. I've got to shift my focus to the ice for practice. Thanks to everyone for the questions. I'll be doing chats more regularly. Hope to see you all here next time!
