Is P-T the real deal after the impressive win over Gateway? I mean I thought they would hang around or have a chance to win but not by 21 points. Or was the game closer than the score showed?

Yes, P-T is for real. They were highly thought of coming into year. Lots of starters back from a good team last year. And they have a "program" now. Every year, they're in the thick of things. I think John Ruane has proven to be among best coaches in WPIAL. I certainly didn't expect them to beat Gateway by three touchdowns. But when you throw five interceptions like Gateway did, who you gonna beat???

Certainly some good ones this week. Belle Vernon at TJefferson will be our game of the week. I think TJ might win by a couple touchdowns. There's NA and Central. West A and Bethel is good. I really like Central Valley and Beaver Falls.

In the WPIAL, who has the best press box hospitality for the media?

I would say just about all of the schools are good to the stinkin' media. Some just have better facilities than others.. One that boggles my mind is Mt. Lebanon. A school like that has done so much with facilities and their press box is horrible. As tiny as some Class A schools. Same press box as I can remember back in the 80s or 70s. I can tell you no media person looks forward to covering a game at Mt. Lebanon because press box is so bad. Very little room to work. You hear that Mt. Lebanon? Geez, do something with your press box.

Central scored late. Not that surprised because Seneca is pretty good. But you call the winning TD run by Pieto crazy?? It was just a good fake and a bootleg from what the 2 or 3? Good call but I wouldn't call it crazy.

Win games. They are expected to be good and I think they can be. 0-2 is not the biggest issue but offense hasn't exactly been overwhelming. 21 points in two games.

No. No chance whatsoever. They should just hand in the equipment. Of course Brentwood has a chance. I think they will be in the thick of the race for the top four spots. After Burgettstown, it seems that conference is pretty open.

Did great job. True freshman. Ran for over 100. Didn't throw for a ton but impressive. At William & Mary. Looks like he won the job because they used two QBs.

How much of a chance do you give Mckeesport this week against 4A Cathedral Prep?  Erie Prep seems to be kinda down this year with no big names or D1 prospects that I've heard about.  Maybe the WPIAL has a chance for some paybacks this year.

I think McKeesport will give them a game. Yes, Prep isn't loaded with D-1 prospects like other years, but you know they are still good McKeesport will run its flexbone and maybe have some success. Robinson was a running back last year and now is QB. I think it might be close.

Nothing against Hampton but they have one conference win -- against Armstrong. So there are still plenty of tickets available for that bandwagon. I will say this, though: That Class 5A Northern Conference looks a heckuva lot easier than the other two.

Yes, it's terrible. We have no update on him, whether he's still in hospital or not. But Post-Gazette's Brad Everett talked to few teammates Sunday and they said he is expected to be OK. Will he play again this year? Who knows.

Well, West A lost some pretty good players from last year. I don't think anyone expected them to be a top three team this year but they will certainly be competitive. Interesting game this week vs. Bethel Park. I like Bethel a lot.

Last drive by Central was all heart everyone knew they were running the ball and a soph running back carried the load down the field behind some great blocking. I agree boot leg call at end was nuts
