Back on the 5A: I didn't criticize PR, I actually like it because of the competition.  I do think they are going to roll through for a while though, and that is not a criticism as they are just very good.  And on another 5A note, if NH doesn't win a playoff game soon what do you think the chances of Pat Carey retaining his job are? Especially since he will likely be in the same conference as another McCurry product who has been substantially more successful.

Maybe you didn't criticize P-R. But others have. As for North Hills and Pine, don't compare. Totally different makeups of districts and programs.

How many schools will be in 6A football next year if Butler leaves? How many do you expect to make the playoffs?

Right now, there are nine. Pine is 5A. Baldwin moves up from 5A to 6A. If Butler leaves, that would make eight. No problem. Still doable with eight teams.

Not sure who we will put No. 1 but it might be Mars. Planets going to be good again. Not a state championship type team, but still good. Moon would've been really good with Puff Johnson, but still decent without. Chartiers Valley has excellent point guard in Brayden Reynolds. Penn Hills should be good also and Montour improved.

Everybody said SF would struggle when they made the move to 4A... and they never lost a conference game in 4 years.  Perhaps 5A will challenge them finally but I don’t see them having a losing record or anything like that...  I’m very excited to see them play at that level next year!

I don't remember people saying South Fayette would struggle in move to 4A. Certainly not me. Playing 5A will be different most certainly. They won't have losing record. Joe Rossi's program is too good. But they aren't going to go 5 years or so without a conference loss. Lost to Upper St. Clair each of the past two seasons. South Fayette will be extremely competitive but undefeated regular seasons won't be the norm in 5A.

They play in 2A. Southern Columbia also plays in 2A. Read above about Southern Columbia. That will answer your question about Avonworth's chances of a state title. But I'm sure Avonworth is just worried about WPIAL playoffs first.

OK, I'm done. Remember, four WPIAL semifinal games Friday night in 5A and 2A. Four title games in other classes Saturday at Heinz Field. Everyone, be good.
