I have no idea. I have no information on the makeup of Belle Vernon's enrollment.

Hypothetically if a team were to have 10 transfers in basketball and no success points.  Would they be forced to move up in classification by definition of the PIAA?
Mike White
11:30
No. You have to have a transfer ---- and success points. Must have both things to be forced up.

Has the Pete been chosen for the finals yet?
Mike White
11:30
No. At least not officially, although I believe that announcement could be coming.

What wpial schools are playing in the mlk chambersburg tournament?
Mike White
11:37
For boys: Woodland Hills, Mt. Lebanon, Imani Christian and Aliquippa. For girls: Woodland Hills, Mt. Lebanon, North Allegheny.

Is there any momentum locally or statewide to carve out non boundary schools for post season?  That way public schools can go back down to 4 maybe 5 divisions.
Mike White
11:38
Nope. None at all. Some schools might want it, but it's not going to happen. Been through this before. PIAA wants nothing to do with separating public and private/parochial.
Allen
11:45
What dictates why some sports have 6 divisions while others only have 2 or 3?
Mike White
11:47
The number of teams in a sport. The PIAA makes the number of classifications based on the number of teams in a sport. But there are those who feel the PIAA should change the number of classes in some sports, like track and field. There are only two classes (3A and 2A) in individual track and field, yet three in cross country.

When are the player scoring averages coming out?
Mike White
11:47
Later this week on Post-Gazette web site and then in Thursday Varsity Xtra.

Do You ever think the city league schools would join the wpial in football and basketball?
Mike White
11:48
There was a movement a while ago by some to make it happen. But Pittsburgh Public Schools administrators have been against it for most part. A few City schools have joined the WPIAL in a few sports like soccer, baseball and softball. Besides a little success here and there, it has not gone well.

Is North Hills playing 6a basketball next year, and if not how will this affect section 1 given that they already only have 5 teams?
Mike White
11:50
We have already had this in a few stories and in a chart that is on our high school page. North Hills will stay in Class 5A next year. It will not play up in Class 6A, like the past two years. There will only be 11 6A boys teams next year. That means there will be two sections. Look for Central Catholic to come to northern area section and probably Norwin and Hempfield to the South Hills section.

Could a team like Allderdice leave the city league and play a WPIAL schedule?  I believe they do for baseball.  What classification is Dice?
Mike White
11:51
Allderdice is Class 6A. City League would have to let them out for the sport and WPIAL would have to accept them. I would doubt City League would like that because Allderdice is sort of the face of City League basketball right now.

Would you consider Cugini a top 20 player in the wpial even though he is the top scorer?
Mike White
11:56
Yes, probably.
Pete

Laurel Highlands has a legit trio.  Are they the best trio in the wpial?
Mike White
11:57
Teaser alert. I wrote about the trio to lead my notes column later this week. Check it out.
Well that's about it. Same channel, same time next week. 11 a.m. Tuesday.
