I texted Todd about a week or so ago and he sounded like he has nothing going on yet.

SOME BREAKING NEWS ON FOOTBALL COACHING FRONT!!!! Check Post-Gazette web site. Longtime Bethel Park coach Jeff Metheny has resigned. 25 years with Bethel. 33 overall. Won 200 games. Wants to see his son play more at Albany.

Sewickley and OLSH have dominated 2a the last two years, any idea if they can be challenged this year in playoffs?
Mike White
11:38
Serra intrigues me for one main reason --- Jimmy Moon. He's 6-9 242 pds. and is having as good a season as anyone in WPIAL. 28 pts, 11 caroms, 4 swats a game. He's 6-9 but has made 28 3's. I've gotta get out to see him play. Early in season, Serra lost to Sewickley by only four.

How about Dom Serapiglia from TJ? Another fun kid to watch..has he committed anywhere?
Mike White
11:39
His only Division I offers are as preferred walk-on. He has not committed anywhere yet. I know he's hoping to get a D-1 offer. But it's getting late.

See WPIAL committee voted not to have play-in games to determine lower seeds in PIAA tourney this season.  What are you thoughts about play-in games vs. the follow the leader format currently being used?
Mike White
11:40
Some coaches sent a letter to WPIAL asking for play-in games to determine state qualifiers. WPIAL board of directors said they will examine the possibility after next season, the end of the PIAA's two-year cycle. I like them. Never liked follow the leader format. WPIAL did play-in games few years ago. Would have to do them on nights of other playoff games. Were not real well attended. But I wish they would bring them back. If I were a betting man, though, I wouldn't count on it.
Mike
11:40
That’s a shame for both kids... great players... both deserve a shot....
Mike White
11:41
No, it's not a shame. They'll get a shot to play somewhere. Just maybe not at the level they thought.

11:43
Do you think Jeff Metheny was the most underrated coach in the WPIAL?  What he did with the lack of talent he had was incredible.
Mike White
11:45
Very underrated. Old school but won a lot. I wouldn't say he's most underrated. Some other underrated guys. But he won 200 games at Bethel and also coached at places like Hampton and Waynesburg. I think he will come back to coaching once his son Levi is done with playing at Albany. Will never forget Jeff's voice. Nick Nolte of WPIAL coaches. ha ha.

opinion on Char Valley girls basketball team
Mike White
11:46
They are good enough to win a state championship. They are better than last year's Mars team that won states in 5A. Doesn't mean they will definitely win it but CV is that good. And will be good for years to come. Loaded with young talent.
11:47
Speaking of CV, anyone see T.J. and James Harden go at it a little bit last night? Great stuff.

NA girls or peters Girls for WPIAL?  GO
Mike White
11:47
Ahhhh the weekly Peters Township girls question. Won't predict. Haven't seen either.
Mike
11:47
Do you think either of them are good enough to have played D1 football? What part do coaches play in recruiting ..
Mike White
11:48
Low Division I maybe.

11:48
How many WPIAL coaches have won WPIAL titles in both boys and girls as head coaches?  Appears Tim McConnell has a good shot to do so at Chartiers Valley?
Mike White
11:50
Good question. None come to mind right away. Reggie Wells came close, though, with South Park boys and girls. Won it with South Park girls and lost in final twice with boys.

Can you update us on your boy Rob Carmody at ND?
Mike White
11:51
Had shoulder surgery in December. Done for season. Will get redshirt. Four years eligibility left. Was starting as freshman at Notre Dame. Got hurt first game and affected him greatly. Saw him at a Mars game in December. Not the worst thing he said. He is upbeat about future

T.J. is old school NBA player. Love watching him. Not enough TJ's in the NBA these days.
Mike White
11:52
One of the greatest success stories in history of Pittsburgh sports. Seriously. A kid from suburban Pittsburgh making it at point guard in NBA? And having an impact?
That's about it for now everyone. Good stuff. Gotta run. We'll do it again next Tuesday at 11 a.m.

Have you seen Moon play yet and are they the real deal?  They seem to defend well but Section 2 not as strong as in year's past and they lack secondary scoring.
