Yes, he transferred after freshman season. That rule only applies if you transfer after you played as a sophomore. So he will be in playoffs.

What a turnaround this season by the North Hills girls.  Kudos to Tony Grenek on what he’s done in 2 years.  Have they clinched a playoff spot yet?

Tony has done a great job. Came from coaching Point Park women two years ago, where he had plenty of success. North Hills now tied for first in section. They are in good shape for playoffs, but not in yet for sure. They would have to lose their final four section games and a few of the bottom teams would have to win all of theirs. Not likely to happen.

Heard legendary coach Jon Miller from Blackhawk has been running CV practices and has been on the bench for games. Any chance he will take over the CV program and right the ship?

All I know is he was not on the bench last Tuesday's game. And I would seriously doubt John Miller has any interest in coaching high school again. No way. He's like a consultant for some.

Anything new with the Blackhawk AD and football coach positions. That used to be a major WPIAL powerhouse school back in the days of John Miller and Joe Hamilton, with Jack Fullen as the AD. Is Blackhawk not a prime job anymore?

Lots comments about a player.  We know the player and situation is CV. The entire WPIAL and South Hills is watching this story.  The AD and Board have a chance to protect coaches, Refs, and other players.  We saw the issue play out at SF.  Now, we have a player at Trinity who was Spit on.  There are OTHER previous issues as well.  I hope this forum is made public for CV Board.  They gave another kid 2 game suspension for pushing a player away.  Spitting on a kid!!!!!  Thank you Mike for using this chat to have a discussion.

Seton La salle boys seem to be the surprise team in 3a #2 ranked team leading 3a in scoring with 64 ppg merchant and weldon both averaging 15 what are your thoughts on them?

I haven't seen them, but I'm nost surprised. Knobby Walsh does an excellent job year-in and year-out, no matter who is there. Kudos to Knobby.

Saw Joe Roth Sat. at Moon and wow is he fun to watch dropping a triple double. Other than Thomas from LP he might be the most impressive player in WPIAL. I think those 2 are locks for Fab 5, stayed and watched the Moon Hampton game that was a thriller and Kramer and Guillory did their thing so they could potentially make it as well imo.

I think Joe Roth is one of the best stories in WPIAL -- ever. State champion swimmer. Will go Division I in swimming. A top basketball player. Who does that? Do you know how hard it is to do both of those sports in the same season? Sure, athletes have done it before, although I don't know many. But nobody, absolutely nobody, like this kid. I would not consider him a lock for Fab 5. But I think he should certainly be considered. I will see him play hopefully in near future. Has had a few triple doubles this year.
