Class 3A is very top heavy with Quips and South Allegheny. Bishop Canevin intrigues me. As far as the four teams you mentioned? No, I don't see them going on a playoff run.

He has a few Division II offers. I think he's waiting to see if more come along. Nova Southeastern is very interested but they have told him they don't have a scholarship. They are one of top D-2 programs in country.

In 4A, it seems like it can be anyone’s year. What are your thoughts on each first round matchup? And, do you think a first round bye and a home game in the quarterfinals for those teams is a little bit too much of an advantage?

No, a home game is not too much of an advantage. Other classes also have teams with home games in quarterfinals. As for first-round 4A games? Quaker Valley and Deer Lakes is interesting. Could be close. I'll also take EF. Other two are Knoch and Central Valley.

Mike, I'm not sure this kid from Greensburg Central Catholic is getting much playing time yet, but keep your eyes open for 6'6" sophomore Brandon Martin.  I'm hearing he is pretty good.  See him play yet?

No way should 6-13 Highlands be No. 9 in 4A boys. No signature wins. Nothing special about non-section schedule. Team was in disarray early season. Possible rematches in quarterfinals between section teams in quarterfinals, so there goes that argument. Might be the worst basketball seeding decision ever.

Can't wait to see the crowd, or lack thereof, for a SWAC and GCC WPIAL final. Just what we will need more of; private schools in the championships, with zero community support because they are AAU teams.
