I think most of the boys brackets are up for grabs, but I would say Olsh and Bishop Canevin are the clear favorites to win. I don't see many  teams being able to beat those 2. But its high school anything can happen on any given night

AAA Seems down with Lincoln Park and North Catholic moving up. Is an Aliquippa vs. SA final the best chance we have a great title game ? Can anyone else compete ?

No, no one else can compete. A bunch of teams that can't be competitive. Geez, c'mon, Gina. South Allegheny is good but just lost to Shady Side Academy, which has one loss. I don't think 3A is real good, but you also have Neshannock, Beaver Falls, Avonworth and even Ellwood City. Don't sleep on them.

Mike i was born in 1972 and watched hs basketball from 1987 through the present day. Ive always been interested in historical teams of the 60s and 70s. Schenley, Midland , Ambridge, Fifth Avenue, Farrell . I know wqed used to televise the finals wpial and state. Do you know if there is way of purchasing those games from the past? I would really love to see those historical teams.

No, no way that I know of. I do know I've watched the Schenley state championship game of 1971 at Civic Arena against Norristown. Search for it on youtube. Quality isn't bad, either. That's Maurice Lucas, Jeep Kelley team.

Funny you ask this question this week, lil Prexie. Later this week, I'll have big, big story on top 10 places to watch a game in WPIAL-City. We had 54 coaches pick their top 5. You might like the story. Check it out. Without giving anything away, I will tell you the gyms that finished in the top three in voting were all built in 1951 or before.

Hi mike - Port Vue and Glassport have been buzzing over the SA Gladiators finding success. They’ve recently played some stiffer AA and 5A opponents with varying success. 3 Parter here : Do you think “scheduling up helps or hurts” in the long run? Does a team like SA get hurt a bit by gauntlet that will inevitably be an “open” playoff &  Finally handicapping AAA do you anyone that could give the gladiators trouble ?

Well, first off. I'd say Shady Side could give South Allegheny trouble. They did just beat them. No, playing tough schedule will only help South Allegheny and the losses won

continued - the losses won't be held against them in seedings. They should be No. 1 seed. They have a team this year that can be competitive in good non-section teams against teams from bigger classes. That will help come playoff time.

I'd have to think about it. Can't do on the spur of the moment on the chat. I do know this. I really like OLSH and some people are claiming they might be the No. 1 team in any classification. Don't count me among those people.
