Who is more likely to be starting running back at psu?  Martin or Hayes?  Martin didn’t really put up great numbers for a kid rated so high
Mike White
11:37
Forget Martin's numbers. They don't mean a thing. Heck, he carried the ball only about 10 times a game the past two seasons. He did do a lot of other things. That's a good question about who is more likely to be the starter. Honestly, I can't give an answer. I don't know who I would say. I saw Tikey Hayes in a basketball uniform a few times this season, including Saturday. Looks like he's getting bigger.

Pratt from Aliquippa has been very good all year.  It was good to see him get some spotlight in the championship game. I think he was getting over looked due to not being a football player.  He transferred from LP.  We the basketball team now have to move u in classifications like the football team?
Mike White
11:40
Pratt was at Lincoln Park for I believe 8th and 9th grade. His brother played at Lincoln Park, LA, and is now at Elon. Family originally from Columbus and they came here I think when Josh was in 5th or 6th grade. So it's not like he grew up in Aliquippa. As far as the move up in basketball. Aliquippa's enrollment places them in 3A next year. That's already been decided. If they make the PIAA quarterfinals, they would be bumped up to 2A to 3A under competitive-balance rule. But it doesn't matter because they already are 3A next year because of enrollment.

Did Imani Christian opt to play 6A for the next boys’ basketball cycle? If so, it seems it may have bitten off more than it can chew. It dominates the small A schools, but will never contend with the bigger 6A schools.  That was evident by the huge blowouts when they tried to play with the big boys out of state.  But with Imani, you never know who will show up next week.
Mike White
11:43
Yes, Imani chose to play up in 6A next year. They lose a couple top players. And you're right. It's hard to say how they will be in 6A because you're right again. You never know who is going to show up there and from where. I will just tell you that many coaches in 6A are very leery about who will be on their roster next year.

Is Sean Lee the best football and basketball player in usc history?
Mike White
11:48
As far as the football-basketball combo, I think definitely yes. And the best football player ever? Yeah, I would say so. But they've had some good ones there. You might not remember a Jeff Delaney. Played at USC, was starting DB on Pitt's 1976 national championship team and played in NFL for few years. But have to go with Lee for football. As for basketball, you know Joey David was pretty dang good and did have a nice career at Pitt. Lee and David are only two USC players to make Post-Gazette Fab 5. I wouldn't say Lee was better than David. In fact, I might go with David.
Run it back
11:48
USC can repeat I think. They're most of the team back next year and Robbins is still growing. Agreed
Mike White
11:48
They will definitley be No. 1 going into next year. I think three starters back, 5 or 6 of top 8.
Ball is Ball

I want to know who your most likely team to win it all is who didn’t win the Wpial? Or just go on the farthest run
Mike White
11:50
I can't give you a team that didn't win WPIAL that I think is most likely to win state. I don't think there is anyone. Since 5A was best classification, I think, I'll say someone from there.

Mike, do you see Quip players in summer league or AAU basketball or do they pretty much just pick up basketball for 4 months a year. The caliber of cross sport football-basketball athletes there the last 30-40 years is truly amazing.
Mike White
11:52
I don't know if football players play much in any summer leagues. Honestly, I don't think football players play much basketball of any kind in offseason. That's why what Aliquippa does in basketball is pretty remarkable, because those football kids do very little with basketball in offseason, I think.

Read the article on Avonworth girls by Keith Barnes other day. Tremendous accomplishment but if not for that article not a lot would know. Was a great read! Going to be tough for that record to ever be broken.
Mike White
11:52
Ridiculous accomplishment by a great run of athletes at Avonworth. I agree, people don't realize the great level of success they've had in past few years. Unheard of.

Any idea when and if Chartiers Valley is going to open up the boys basketball position? With no superintendent currently in place, could that hold up the hiring process?
Mike White
11:54
I have no idea what Char Valley is going to do. Let's just say that, ahhh, Brandon Sensor really doesn't want to come back. Not that school wants him back. Their administration doesn't talk to media about what has happened with basketball program. So I have no idea what they'll do.

Now that it has been 20 years can we all admit the sto rox and trinity fight 20 years ago was the coolest moment in championship history.  Geiger got the last laugh by becoming a millionaire
Mike White
11:55
Rocky Geiger moment will live forever. That was actually 21 years ago. I was there. One of my sons was in stands for game. Still talks about it.
WPIAL Lifer

Mike, how many rounds will schools receive a home game in state tournament? Just the first?
Mike White
11:55
Just the first round.

Sorry I broke Facebook this morning Mr. White and readers. I was too busy filling out  my PIAA bracket. Speaking of that, which WPIAL team on the boys side can win a State title ?
Mike White
11:57
Best chances would be Lincoln Park and Imani Christian. You could see a Lincoln Park-Neumann-Goretti rematch. Did you know Neumann beat Lincoln Park this regular season.
Mike Junko
11:57
Tyler Robbins would make a good Tight End or Wide Receiver next Fall. Agreed
Mike White
11:58
Wide receiver???? Wow. I don't think so. How about more like offensive tackle??
Wpial
11:58
What school would brandin cumming play at if not for Lincoln park?
Mike White
11:59
He lives very close to Lincoln Park, I believe in Midland. So would that be Beaver maybe? Western Beaver? I'm not totally sure, but I know he lives close to Lincoln Park.

i can’t wait to see Imani play in 6A. What section would they be put into? North or South?
Mike White
11:59
Good question. No idea what WPIAL will do. They could make an 8 and 7 team section. Or three 5's.

What do you think about South Fayette's girls 5a three-peat, pretty impressive with three starters who played hardly at all last year.
Mike White
12:00
Very impressive. I don't think anyone expected that at start of season. Great coaching job out there by Brian Bennett. But don't kid yourself. They have players, too.
12:04
Well, let's call it a day. I think leftover meatballs from last night are calling my name for a lunch sandwich. Everyone, be good.
