His teams will pass a lot at Central. Won't move a lot, though.

What’s Allderdice have to do to beat Mt. Lebo tomorrow night?
Mike White
11:26
Score more points. Woooooo hoooooo. I'll be here all week.
11:28
No, they have to start better than last time. Gave up 20 some points to Lebo the last time they met. Then they settled down in last three quarters. You'll probably see some man and some zone from Allderdice. You'll probably see the same stuff from Mt. Lebanon. Press. Try to play fast. Spread the court. Shoot a good amount of 3's. 3-point shooting will probably be key in this game, but also watch 6-7 Dalen Dugger. He could have an impact.

What are the chances OLSH can advance to Hershey out of the west? Who are the challengers besides Farrell?
Mike White
11:30
Well, Farrell is good. Certainly not unbeatable. Also on the western side is Bishop Guilfoyle. This team is certainly intriguing. They made 22 3-pointers against Sto-Rox in first round Saturday. That's crazy. Has to be near some kind of PIAA record. That would be record for WPIAL playoff game.

Vincentian vs Elk County? Leechburg stayed with both teams until a bad quarter! Elk county number 2 in state but I think Vincentian wins by 10pts tonight! Thoughts?
Mike White
11:32
Elk County is undefeated but you have to wonder a little about competition. Hard one to pick. OK I'll go with Elk County.

What are you hearing about the upcoming opponents for Moon, Archbishop Ryan and Mars, William Penn?
Mike White
11:33
William Penn is good. Mars will have hands full. Archbishop Ryan doesn't have great record, but I also think Moon will have trouble.

Do you think the attendance at games in wpial championship is down because of private schools. They really don’t have a community of fans
Mike White
11:35
Attendance was not down, Jack. Over 18,000 over three days. Best they have had at the Pete. Saturday night doubleheader drew almost 6,000. Friday drew more than 5,500. THis was good year for attendance. Hard to compare to Palumbo days because there is one extra day with six classes. But most they had at Palumbo was 14,000. So attendance is up.

IUP Coach Lombardi, PIAA head Lombardi... Related?
Mike White
11:35
Not that I know of. I don't think they're related at all.

Mike -- baseball has started and it's not even snowing!  Who are the top teams / prospects to watch for?
Mike White
11:38
Mars pitcher Will Bednar. Clocked at 95 last year. Committed to Mississippi State. Maybe drafted decently high? Remains to be seen. West Allegheny junior Austin Hendrick was rated last year as one of the top sophomores. And you want one to watch for the future? Cole Young is a freshman at North Allegheny. Already committed to Duke. AS A NINTH GRADER.

Maurice Bryant (guard for 2001 Coatesville that beat Schenley in PIAA 4A Finals) is the father of current Red Raider guards Jhamir Brickus and Dapree Bryant. Coatesville is guard heavy team.
Mike White
11:39
OK thanks. As long as RIp Hamilton isn't playing.

When will the Fab Five and All-Section teams be published?
Mike White
11:39
One or two weeks after the season. Fab 5 for boys is extremely hard to pick this year - after one player.

Still sticking with your Dice over Lebo prediction from last week?
Mike White
11:39
Tossup game. Yes, I'll go with Allderdice.

Would you rather fight 10 duck sized horses or 1 horse sized duck? Why?
Mike White
11:41
I'd rather fight Kenny "The Horse" Mrazik from our paper. Or former Notre Dame guard Duck Williams. Should I put this on my bill?

Mike will PIAA look into basketball having all District Champs making PIAA, Especially with horrible fan attendance from Philly (D-12). District 1 shouldn’t have 10+ teams qualify in 6A out of 32 teams, with D 6, D 8, and D 10 playing for 2 seeds.
Mike White
11:42
District 6, 8 and 10 have like 2 or 3 6A teams in their district.
Adam
11:43
Looking at the 6A boys PIAA bracket - how does District 1 get in 10 teams?  Are there that many more teams?
Mike White
11:45
District 1 has 39 teams in 6A. The whole state has only 120 teams in 6A. So that's 33 percent of the 6A teams are in District 1. WPIAL has 18.  Now do you understand why so many more in District 1 qualify?

Mike, who do see as the favorites next year in 6A boys in the West?
Mike White
11:46
I can tell you definitely Butler in WPIAL. Lose one starter. Kennedy loses a ton. They won't be the same, unless players come in.
Coacher
11:46
The Ralph article has great points, but I think the shame of coaching are the guys who don't win at such a high clip, and STILL do the things that you say Ralph does for NC. 85-90% of coaches care for their players/towns they are coaching or teaching in, and do so with little thanks.
Mike White
11:47
Agree wholeheartedly with you, Coacher. There are a number of good coaches out there who put in a ton of time. Just a shame they don't have very much talent a lot of times. But Ralph does so much for that town and school and players. Don't downplay his accomplishments.

Who starts at center for Butler next year?
Mike White
11:50
Most teams at all levels don't have a true "center" any more these days. But I would say probably freshman Charles Kreinbacher next year.

How many other coaches do you think would of handed down suspensions to their star players going I to the playoffs? I would have to think you could count them on one hand and have some fingers left over.
Mike White
11:50
Yes.

Sorry, should have clarified, beyond Butler, who are your top 3 in 6A boys?
Mike White
11:52
I can't give you top 3 yet. But Pine will always be good, even though they lose a lot. Same with Mt. Lebanon. We did not have them in top 5 at beginning of this year. You'd think we would've learned to always have them in top 5. Peters Township returns a decent amount I think, and so does Upper St. Clair.
WPIAL
11:52
Predictions for Dice/Lebo? I know Lebo won the first game but feel like Dice has more talent.
Mike White
11:53
Hard to go against Mt. Lebanon. I really think it's a tossup. As I said, 3-point shooting will be a key. If you make me choose, I'll go Allderdice.
